Abstract

PT XYZ is one of property companies that involved in apartment and condotel business in Yogyakarta. At present, PT XYZ had decreased in revenue due to decreased in unit sales and delinquent payments by existing customers. These problems made the company’s performance decrease so the company sold 38 percent of its shares to PT ADP and PT TBR. Together with the new management composition, the company strives to improve its performance. Therefore, a strategy formulation is needed to make the company performance being improved again. Interviews were conducted with informants selected by purposive sampling to identify company’s internal and external strategic issues. The IFE matrix (Internal Factor Evaluation) and EFE matrix (External Factor Evaluation) are used to evaluate company’s internal and external conditions. SWOT matrix (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threat) is used to find alternative strategies to improve company performance. There are five alternative strategies to improve company performance after acquisition, namely: (1) rebranding the names of apartments and condotels; (2) increase promotion and sales activities; (3) improve good relationship with consumers; (4) make value added for the apartments; (5) recruiting experienced sales employees.

Abstract

The research was conducted to measure rural banks (BPR) efficiency level in Jabodetabek and also to identify factors that increase the efficiency level. The measurement was done using non parametric approach with Data Envelopment Analysis. The result indicated that rural banks in Jabodetabek area were in inefficient condition, 80% of rural banks observed were inefficient both in technical and scale. Measurement on several asset distribution showed rural banks had efficiency scale on certain business scale, rural banks with total asset between Rp.1 – Rp.10 billion had the highest efficiency scale and rural banks with total asset less than Rp.500 million had the lowest efficiency scale. Potential improvement analysis result with CCR and BCC models showed that other income was the most contributed output variable to increase 30% to 40 % of rural banks efficiency level. Meanwhile, measurement using BCC model showed that, from output side, current asset has contributed to increased rural banks efficiency level by raising revenue from current asset management up to 10% from average value in 2007. On input side, all input variable had the same potential improvement value which increased the efficiency level by reducing labor cost, fixed asset cost, and the cost of fund 17%-18% from average value in 2007.

Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and traditional market occupies the largest proportion of the industrial sector and plays an important role in economic development, improvement of social welfare and employment in many countries, especially developing countries (including Indonesia). Based on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis has found dimensions and the dominant factors that affect real, both as a stimulus (incentive) as well as obstacles in improving business performance from the aspect of profit. Dimensions of the internal corporate environment, particularly organizational resource factors as stimulus organization, increase business performance, while factors on company's external environment dimensions  none of which have real impact on business performance. Based on Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis, it is proposed several business development strategies that will productive if implemented simultaneously. These strategies include maintain market share, market expansion and optimize production capacity/sales (S – O Strategies); improve the professionalism of business management, reduce cost, technical development and work systems development (W – O Strategies); improve competitiveness, technology development and range of products merchandises development (S – T Strategies); human resources development, financial management, and partnership networking development (W – T Strategies).

Abstract

The constant change and rapid growth of the business world could create turbulence in a business organization, therefore, the business professionals have to continuously increase their skill and ability to be able to maintain the existence and even improve the condition of their business in this highly competitive world. A company would reach its optimal performance when there is an alignment between its business organization and the surrounding environment filled with no strategic gap. If good strategic planning is already in place, then the other crucial aspect to be analyzed would be the external factors outside an organization. The purpose of this is to measure and understand the behaviors and effects of those external factors towards the company through threats as well as opportunities. There are five level of environment turbulence: Repetitive, Expanding, Changing, Discontinuous and Suprising. The case study in this research concludes that all seven petrochemical companies have done a consistent and continuous strategic planning. The environment turbulence level is on two grades, Expanding and Changing, however, the most dominant is Expanding. The avarage score calculation also showing the same result, Expanding.

Abstract

Todays, Supply Chain Management (SCM) becomes one icon of strategic factors to achieve a competitive advantage. This is a SCM case study in agroindustry especially crude palm oil (CPO) at PT. Eka Dura Indonesia (PT EDI), Astra Agro Lestari, Riau. The objectives of study is mapping of SCM problems of PT EDI, especially about value advantage and productivity advantage. Beside that, the objectives is building a SCM simulation model as strategic tool for developing strategy to achieve a competitive advantage. A system approach and modeling is used to analyze SCM problems. This study is successfully to build SCM Model that consist of SCM Strategic Model and SCM Tactic Model. SCM Model is used for simulating some scenarios about site management, supply schedulling, and tank management to CPO forecasting. From this model, the study also develops strategy chain for SCM to achieve a competitive advantage

Abstract

Aiming to investigate the satisfaction level of household beneficiaries towards Raskin Program, the study attempts to determine the gap between households’ expectation and Raskin Program perfor­mance of each satisfaction attribute. By collecting data from 125 respondents of legal beneficiaries, the primary data is processed using descriptive and survey method through questionnaires and interviews and gathered using convenience sampling (non probability sampling). The objectives of the study are to: (1) analyze household’s perception and satisfaction index of Raskin Program; (2) analyze factors that influence household’s satisfaction towards Raskin Program; (3) analyze the official perception of Raskin Program performance; (4) analyze the gap between households’ expectation and Raskin Pro­gram performance; and (5) formulate strategy to increase Raskin Program effectiveness.The study has shown significant contribution of all dimensions in influencing customer satisfaction. The application of Gap Analysis has revealed the fact that there is a significant gap in tangible dimension, with reli­ability dimension is having the largest contribution, sequentially followed by tangible, responsiveness, assurance and empathy dimension with the least contribution. Abstract

This study was designed to extend the Hersey and Blanchard's Situational Leadership Model to test the match of adaptability leadership style to the maturity level of subordinates using the LEAD-Self instrument and Readiness Scale of the Center for Leadership Studies. Maturity level of subordinate was analyzed based on the maturity level of employment (ability) and psychological maturity (willingness) to given work to subordinates. Also, to test compatibility with the leadership style with desired subordinates leadership style using LEAD-Other instrument. Leadership style is a combination of task behavior and behavioral relationships that will produce a directing coaching, participating delegating style. In addition, this study also tested the suitability of the existing organizational culture with the expectation organization culture. Effective matching leadership style and organizational culture is measured by the achievement of individual performance. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of matching between leadership style with the follower’s readiness level (X1), the leader's perceived leadership style with leader’s desired leadership style (X2), and the existing organizational culture with the expectation’s employees (X3) on the individual performance (Y1). The object of research was conducted at PT. Abstract

The objectives of this research are to (1) map the value chain in broiler at PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia, Tbk (CPI); (2) analyze the value chain governance in broiler at CPI; (3) analyze the margin of marketing at broiler industry both on farm or off farm; (3) analyze the gap between the expectation and the performance of consumers (farmers) upon using products of CPI and (4) recognize factors influencing competitiveness in broiler industry; and (5) to formulate strategy for value chain upgrading at CPI in order to increase competitiveness of broiler. As revealed by the value chain analysis, the role of CPI in this value chain is highly significant. All poultry inputs (DOC, feed, veterinary medicine, and poultry equipments) are supplied by CPI. As for downstream sector, CPI processes broiler into its derivatives. The type of value chain governance between feed supplier, DOC, and veterinary medicine, poultry equipment, and poultry derivates belongs to market value chain. Whereas the type of value chain governance between carcass supplier and restaurant belongs to captive value chain. Based on the margin of marketing analysis, the party that gains the lowest margin is farmer and the party that receives the highest margin is the processor. In gap analysis, the lowest attribute of competitiveness is the feed spending and the highest attribute is the spending on veterinary medicine for two months. Factors that influence the competitiveness in poultry industry are condition, demand, industry competition, main industries and supporting industries, and government’s role.Keywords: Value Chain, Competitiveness, Broiler, PT. Abstract

The need of fruits and the number of fruit outlets in Jakarta has been increasing, therefore the study on brand equity of fruit outlet services according to consumer’s perception is now required. In detail the purpose of this study is to analyze the demographic characteristics of  fruits outlets consumer in Jakarta, analyzing the factors that affect brand equity of fruits outlets services, analyze the level of contribution of brand equity variables fruits outlets service in Jakarta and analyze the managerial implications to  fruits outlets brand. Structured questionnaires instrument was used for data collection, while Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method was used in data analysis. The study results have shown that demographic profile of respondents who visited fruit outlet were female, aged 31-40 years, have an undergraduate educational background, private employment and married. Some factors which may influence brand equity are brand loyalty and brand awareness. The brand equity of fruit outlets services is influenced by brand loyalty with contribution of 0.71 and brand awareness with contribution of 0.58. Managerial implication that should be done is to increase promotional activities through advertising. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan penelitian ekuitas merek gerai buah-buahan berdasarkan persepsi konsumen. Secara terperinci tujuan penelitian ini menganalisis karakteristik demografi konsumen jasa gerai buah-buahan di Jakarta, menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi ekuitas merek jasa layanan gerai buah-buahan, menganalisis tingkat kontribusi peubah-peubah ekuitas merek jasa gerai buah-buahan di Jakarta serta menganalisis implikasi manajerial untuk merek gerai buah-buahan yang dianalisis. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen kuesioner yang terstruktur, sedangkan pengolahan data dilaksanakan dengan metode Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Didapatkan hasil penelitian bahwa profil demografi responden yang mengunjungi gerai buah-buahan Total Buah Segar adalah wanita, usia 31–40 tahun, pendidikan S1, pekerjaan swasta, status sudah menikah. Faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi ekuitas merek adalah brand loyalty dan brand awareness. Kontribusi variabel Brand loyalty terhadap brand equity adalah 0,71, sedangkan kontribusi variabel brand awareness terhadap brand equity adalah 0,58. Implikasi Manajerial yang harus dilakukan dengan meningkatkan promosi melalui periklanan.Kata kunci: ekuitas merek, kesadaran merek, asosiasi merek, persepsi kulitas merek, loyalitas merek

Abstract

This research aims to identify the actual condition of seaweed industry cluster in Minapolitan Area of East Sumba, determine the factors that influence the development of seaweed industry cluster in Minapolitan Area of East Sumba and to recommend the suitable strategy priority to be applied. This research use Cluster Model (Zone was determined by ministry of sea resources and fisheries) to analyze the actual condition, Gap analysis and Analytical hierarchy Process (AHP). The result of this research, by using the actual condition and Gap Analysis shows that the performance of the Zone I is not good, with performance score is 2,4 out of 5 for ideal condition. This score was the average of the addition of performance level from 9 supporting indicators in Zone I. The performance of Zone II also had not fulfilled the ideal condition – performance score is 2,6 out of 5 for ideal condition. This score was the average of the addition of the performance level from 4 supporting indicators in Zone II. Zone III has a pretty good level of performance on the actual condition with score of performance is 2,7 out of 5 for ideal conditions. This score was the average of the addition of the performance level from 4 supporting indicators in Zone III. The strategy alternative to be exactly applied and prioritized in the sustainable strategy to develop the seaweed cluster in Minapolitan Area of East Sumba is on the Zone I - increasing the production volume, Zone II – building an integrated and coordinated partnership with the factory and in Zone III – increasing the final production volume.Keywords: industry cluster, minapolitan, seaweed, strategyABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi kondisi aktual dari klaster industri rumput  laut di kawasan minapolitan Kabupaten Sumba Timur, menentukan faktor- faktor yang memengaruhi pengembangan klaster industri rumput laut di kawasan minapolitan Kabupaten Sumba Timur  dan merekomendasikan prioritas strategi yang tepat guna mendukung pengembangan klaster industri rumput laut yang berkelanjutan di kawasan minapolitan Kabupaten Sumba Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan model klaster dengan sistem zonasi yang dikeluarkan oleh Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan untuk menganalisis kondisi aktual, analisis kesenjangan dan Analytical  Hierarchy Process (AHP). Hasil analisis kondisi aktual dan analisis kesenjangan diperoleh data bahwa zona I masih memiliki kinerja kurang baik pada kondisi aktual dengan nilai kinerja (2,4) dari nilai 5 untuk kondisi ideal. Nilai kinerja ini merupakan rata-rata hasil penjumlahan tingkat kinerja dari 9 indikator pendukung pada zona I.  Zona II juga masih memiliki tingkat kinerja yang kurang baik pada kondisi aktual dengan nilai kinerja (2,6) dari nilai 5 untuk kondisi ideal. Zona III memiliki tingkat kinerja yang cukup baik pada kondisi aktual dengan nilai kinerja (2,7) dari nilai 5 untuk kondisi ideal. Nilai kinerja ini merupakan rata-rata hasil penjumlahan tingkat kinerja dari 4 indikator pendukung pada zona III. Faktor prioritas utama dalam pencapaian sasaran adalah zona I (kegiatan budidaya) dengan pertimbangan hasil analisis kondisi aktual dan analisis kesenjangan yang menunjukkan bahwa zona I merupakan zona hulu yang memiliki peran penting dalam penyediaan bahan baku bagi kegiatan yang berjalan pada zona II dan  zona III. Alternatif strategi yang tepat diterapkan dan diprioritaskan dalam pengembangan klaster industri rumput laut yang berkelanjutan di kawasan minapolitan Kabupaten Sumba Timur  adalah pada zona I yaitu peningkatan kapasitas produksi, pada zona II yaitu membangun hubungan kemitraan yang terintegrasi dan terkoordinasi dengan baik dan pada zona III yaitu peningkatan kapasitas produksi.
