Abstract

The limited availability of engaging and contextual learning media has contributed to students’ low participation and lack of confidence in expressing opinions during Indonesian language learning. This study aimed to develop the Pixton-assisted “KADAPAT” E-Comic as a valid and practical learning medium for teaching opinion expression to fourth-grade elementary school students. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consisted of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The participants involved 20 fourth-grade students at SDN 2 Campurdarat, Tulungagung Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation and were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that the “KADAPAT” E-Comic achieved validity scores of 91% from media experts, 90% from subject matter experts, and 96% from a language expert, all of which were categorized as highly valid. The practicality assessment yielded scores of 93.5% in the small-group trial, 92.4% in the field trial, and 95% based on the teacher’s response, all of which were categorized as highly practical. The distinctive feature of this learning medium lies in its presentation of opinion-expression materials through contextual stories, illustrations, and dialogues that provide examples of expressing opinions clearly, coherently, and politely. Therefore, the Pixton-assisted “KADAPAT” E-Comic is valid and practical for use as an alternative learning medium to support Indonesian language instruction on opinion expression for fourth-grade elementary school students.
