Abstract

In several learning methods, the Slot Board is believed to be able to solve the difficulties in learning. So in this study the researcher will use Slot Board learning media to determine students' abilities in French speaking skills at A1 CECRL level after using Slot Board media as well as students' opinions regarding learning using Slot Board media in CECRL Level A1 French speaking skills. This research uses a quantitative approach method with a one-shot case study design with datacollection techniques through post-tests and questionnaires distributed to 36 grade 10 students in the 2023/2024 academic year. The results of the research show that the overall point for speaking ability after using this media is 3252/3600, namely getting an average class score of 90.22. With the scores obtained, it can be seen that the class average assessment predicate is very good. The results of the research questionnaire show that the majority of students feel that learning using a slot board really helps the teaching and learning process because the material explained attracts students' attention to be more motivated to learn than usual because it is more fun and easy to pay attention to. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis teknik terjemahan amplifikasi dan reduksi pada takarir seri Lupin episode 1 yang ditayangkan melalui platform streaming Netflix. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi penerapan kedua teknik tersebut serta bagaimana teknik tersebut mempengaruhi struktur kalimat dalam takarir. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa teknik reduksi lebih dominan digunakan, dengan 42 takarir mengaplikasikan teknik reduksi, sementara 29 takarir menggunakan teknik amplifikasi. Selanjutnya, analisis terhadap kalimat simpleks dan kompleks menunjukkan bahwa dari 42 takarir yang menggunakan teknik reduksi, terdapat 30 kalimat simpleks dan 11 kalimat kompleks. Di sisi lain, dari 29 takarir yang menggunakan teknik amplifikasi, ditemukan 22 kalimat simpleks dan 7 kalimat kompleks. Temuan ini memberikan gambaran tentang bagaimana teknik terjemahan amplifikasi dan reduksi diterapkan dalam konteks penerjemahan takarir, serta bagaimana hal tersebut mempengaruhi kesederhanaan dan kompleksitas kalimat.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan media Edpuzzle dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menyimak tingkat A1 CECRL Bahasa Prancis. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif desain one-shot case study, penelitian ini melibatkan 28 mahasiswa semester satu program studi Pendidikan Bahasa Perancis UPI. Pembelajaran dilaksanakan melalui empat tahapan yaitu persiapan media, pemutaran video, diskusi, dan evaluasi soal tes menggunakan Edpuzzle. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa dapat memahami materi pembelajaran dengan baik melalui media Epuzzle, hal tersebut ditunjukkan dengan rata-rata skor tes sebesar 92,85 yang termasuk kategori sangat baik. Hasil dari observasi menunjukkan 90% mahasiswa memperhatikan pembelajaran dengan baik dan mampu dengan mudah mengoperasikan media. Hasil angket mengungkapkan bahwa mayoritas 57,1% mahasiswa menyatakan bahwa Edpuzzle merupakan media yang interaktif dan membantu mahasiswa fokus dalam pembelajaran. Berdasarkan alasan-alasan di atas maka media Edpuzzle disarankan untuk diterapkan dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menyimak khususnya tingkat A1.

Abstract

This study investigates the development of French language learning and its relation to e-learning. The study employs a computational approach to bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer. The authors used the Publish or Perish application to collect scholarly sources from Google Scholar over the past ten years (2013–2023). The keywords “E-Learning,” “Educational Application,” and “French Learning” were used to identify relevant articles, resulting in 802 sources related to the topic. The results show that the four most frequently occurring terms are e-learning, French, application, and education. A total of 182 items were identified and grouped into seven clusters. The number of publications fluctuated from 2013 to 2020. In even-numbered years, there was a general increase in publications (56, 59, 66, and 73), while odd-numbered years showed a downward trend (47, 56, 60, and 73). In 2021 and 2022, there was a significant increase to 92 and 126 publications, respectively. In 2023, the number slightly decreased to 94 publications. The results of this study may serve as a foundation for future research on French language learning through e-learning and contribute to the growing body of literature on digital language education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis jenis dan fungsi tindak ilokusi dalam bidang pragmatik. Tujuan penelitan ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan dan mengidentifikasi jenis dan fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi yang terdapat dalam naskah teater “Le jeu de l’amour et du hasard” karya Pierre de Marivaux. Tindak ilokusi merupakan tuturan yang mengandung sebuah makna untuk melakukan sesuatu. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikasikan tindak ilokusi dalam naskah teater berdasarkan teori tindak tutur oleh George Yule. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dalam naskah teater “Le jeu de l’amour et du hasard” mengandung berbagai fungsi tindak ilokusi, seperti representatif, direktif, komisif, dan ekspresif. Selain fungsi, dalam naskah teater ini juga terdapat jenis tindak ilokusi, seperti tindak tutur langsung dan tindak tutur tidak langsung. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam memahami makna secara pragmatik dalam sebuah karya sastra, khususnya naskah teater.

Abstract

The mastery of adjectives in French is a crucial aspect of forming grammatical and meaningful sentences. However, learners of French as a foreign language often experience difficulties, particularly in gender and number agreement as well as adjective placement. This study aims to analyze the level of mastery of French adjectives and to identify the types of difficulties and factors contributing to errors among A2-level students in the French Language Education Program at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. This study employs a sequential explanatory mixed-method design, integrating quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data were obtained through an 82-item paper-based written test, while qualitative data were collected through open- and closed-ended questionnaire items. All data were analyzed descriptively based on the framework of French adjective grammar proposed by Grevisse (2008). The findings indicate that most students achieved a good level of proficiency, with an average score of 76, and demonstrated an understanding of basic adjective functions. Nevertheless, frequent errors were found in gender and number agreement, adjective placement, and particularly in the use of l’adjectif indéfini, which showed the highest error rate. These results suggest the need for instructional practices that emphasize explicit explanations of adjective agreement and placement, accompanied by contextualized exercises specifically targeting the mastery of l’adjectif indéfini.

Abstract

This Community Service Program is based on the limitations of foreign language skills other than English, namely the French language of hotel and restaurant employees in Denpasar, Bali. Meanwhile, in 2024, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy hopes that Bali will be able to attract seven million foreign tourists. French tourists are the seventh most common tourists who come to Bali. Departing from these goals, this service program will implement French tourism training that can provide linguistic insight to hotel and restaurant employees in Denpasar, Bali. It will lead to improving their language quality. This service aims to 1) provide French Tourism training for hotel and restaurant employees in Denpasar - Bali; 2) Conduct a technical simulation of Jeux de rôles- actes de parole. The service is training in Jeux de rôles-actes de parole techniques based on local material in learning French Tourism for hotel and restaurant employees in Denpasar, Bali.   Abstrak Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilandasi oleh keterbatasan kemampuan bahasa asing selain bahasa Inggris yaitu bahasa Perancis para pegawai hotel dan restoran di kota Denpasar, Bali. Sedangkan tahun 2024 ini Menparekraf berharap Bali mampu menjaring tujuh juta wisatawan mancanegara. Wisatawan Prancis, merupakan wisatawan terbanyak ketujuh yang datang ke Bali. Berangkat dari sasaran tersebut, program pengabdian ini akan menerapkan pelatihan bahasa Perancis Pariwisata yang dapat memberikan wawasan kebahasaprancisan kepada para pegawai hotel dan restoran di Denpasar - Bali, sehingga akan bermuara pada peningkatan kualitas kebahasaan mereka. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk 1) memberikan pelatihan Bahasa Perancis Pariwisata bagi para pegawai hotel dan restoran di Denpasar - Bali; 2) mengadakan simulasi teknik Jeux de rôles- actes de parole. Bentuk pengabdiannya adalah berupa pelatihan teknik Jeux de rôles-actes de parole berbasis local material dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Perancis Pariwisata bagi pegawai hotel dan restoran di Denpasar – Bali. Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of translation techniques in preserving the meaning and nuances of literary works. It aims to analyze the use of amplification techniques in the novel L’Appel de l’ange by Guillaume Musso, translated into Indonesian by Yudith Listiandri. The focus is to identify the types of amplification techniques used and analyze their functions within the translated sentences. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method with purposive sampling to select sentences containing amplification techniques. Data were analyzed by categorizing amplification types—explicitation, addition, paraphrase, description, and footnotes—and examining their functions in context. Results show that explicitation is the most frequently used technique (125 sentences), followed by addition (31 sentences), paraphrase (19 sentences), description (18 sentences), and footnotes (6 sentences). These findings highlight the significant role of amplification techniques in influencing the simplicity and complexity of sentence structures in translation.

Abstract

Studies on commissive speech acts in modern French literary texts are still very limited, especially in the context of their translation into Indonesian. However, commissive speech acts such as promises, offers, oaths, and threats play an important role in building the dynamics of relationships between characters in a narrative. Therefore, this research is important to fill the gap in studies and enrich translation studies within the context of pragmatic linguistics. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a document analysis approach on Guillaume Musso's novel Central Park and its Indonesian translation. This study refers to Austin's (1962) and Searle's (1969) speech act theory to identify forms of commissive speech acts, as well as Vinay and Darbelnet's (1995) translation technique theory to analyze the translation strategies used. The research questions are answered through the identification of the types of commissive speech acts that appear in the translated text and the translation techniques used to convey the meaning of the utterances into the target language. The results of the study show that out of 51 data analyzed, four types of commissive speech acts were found, namely promises (49%), offers (31.3%), oaths (11.8%), and threats (7.9%). Meanwhile, in terms of translation techniques, six out of seven techniques proposed by Vinay and Darbelnet were identified, with modulation being the most dominant technique (35.3%). These results indicate that translators actively adapt the meaning and function of utterances to align with the cultural and linguistic context of the target language.

Abstract

Background: The rapid integration of AI in machine translation has spurred extensive research, with over 2,000 studies (2024–2026) on translation quality, mostly focused on general and literary texts. This leaves a gap in evaluating complex political texts, where cultural nuances and specialized terminology pose unique challenges. Purpose: This research is carried out with the objective to examine level of accuracy, acceptability, and readability of the translated results of French political news texts translated by DeepSeek and Gemini using Karangturi framework belongs to Honggo to find a model of AI that shows excellent translation quality based on Nababan's accuracy and readability theory and Machali's acceptability theory. Method: The research method used is descriptive qualitative with research data taken from three news portals in France, namely Le Figaro, Libération, and Le Monde, each of which represents different political ideologies. The research instrument uses Nababan's accuracy and readability theory and Machali's acceptability theory, modified by Ardi. Results and Discussion: The test results show the same accuracy score (87.04%) and acceptability (82.64%) by both AI machines. However, Gemini is more excellent in readability with a score of 98.61% compared to DeepSeek, which scored 93.06%. Therefore, in total, Gemini (89.65%) better than DeepSeek (87.63%). Conclusions and Implications: This study concludes that Gemini and DeepSeek have great potential in translating political news texts, but their translation results still require human editing due to limitations in grammatical and contextual aspects. These results can be used as an academic reference for researchers and students to be more critical of the role of AI in the transfer of socio-political meaning, and also suggest that future researchers explore other AI frameworks or machines to expand the scope of this research.
