Abstract

The use of waste, as well as unused goods, becomes something that has a sales value which is very necessary to preserve the environment. One example is the use of dry leaf waste which can be transformed into goods of economic value to the people who use them. The transformation of dry waste into pulp is one of the efforts that can be made to overcome the waste problem. The pulp from the dried leaf waste can then be turned into a paper which can then be used as an alternative to sanitary pads.

Abstract

Seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi, penggunaan plastik semakin meningkat tiap tahunnya. Data dari kementrian perindustrian konsumsi plastik di Indonesia mancapai 1,9 juta ton pada semester I-2013. Jumlah tersebut meningkat sekitar 22,58% dibandingkan semester yang sama ditahun 2012 sebanyak 1,55 juta ton. Peningkatan ini tidak didiringi dengan peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai aturan penggunaan plastik. Langkah yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat adalah sosialisasi. Dengan sosialisasi ini diharapkan masyarakat khususnya anak-anak sekolah paham plastik-plastik jenis apa yang aman untuk makanan, sehingga mereka tidak terkena dampak buruk dari plastik. Dalam kegiatan ini, siswa akan mendapatkan pengetahuan mengenai pictorial mark pada plastik serta melihat langsung demonstrasi jenis-jenis kemasan plastik dan pictorial mark pada beberapa kemasan makanan. Hasil akhir dari pelatihan ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan siswa mengenai aturan penggunaan plastik dengan melihat logo pictorial mark.

Abstract

Paper cups are disposable cups made of paper-based material covered with laminated plastic to prevent leakage. Paper Cups have two types, namely the hot cup and cold cup. The hot cup type paper cup is a paper cup that is specifically for hot drinks that has a onesided PE laminated layer. In producing paper cup packaging, one of the machines used is the ZBJ-X12 paper cup forming machine which has high technology in producing paper cups. This machine uses ultrasonic welding to glue the body of the paper cup and uses a heater to glue the bottom of the paper cup, the gluing process on this machine does not use glue as an additional material. In this machine, problems are often encountered while carrying out the production process, so that the production process becomes hampered and affects the quality of a product. Problems that often occur include tearing at the lip of the cup, paper cup stuck in the heater, and the bottom cup not sticking together perfectly. This problem is often encountered and hampers the production process and affects the quality of the product being produced. Based on the results of data collection in the form of observations, interviews, and literature studies, it can be concluded that machine maintenance and the knowledge and skills of operators on machines can affect the smooth production process and the quality of a product being produced.

Abstract

One of the commonly used food packaging materials is cardboard. Cardboard was chosen because it has several advantages including light weight, inexpensive, easy to form, easy to print, easy to store and easy to recycle. However, it tears more easily than other packaging materials such as plastic, cans, and glass. Lamination is done to increase the ketahanan sobek value. The type of folding cardboard that is commonly used as a food packaging material is ivory. In this test, the density of ivory is 260 gsm and 310 gsm. There were three types of ivory tested, namely non-laminated, doff laminated, and glossy laminated. This study aims to analyze the comparison of ketahanan sobek values of laminated ivory and non-laminated. The methods used in testing are ISO 534:2011, ISO 536:2010, and ISO 1974:2012. The results showed that the increase in the ketahanan sobek value of cardboard was 22% -24% for doff lamination and 24% -26% for glossy lamination.
