Abstract

This study aims to investigate theimplementation of Smart Fingers technique in improving students’ tenses mastery at 1stsemester students of English department of Mathla’ul Anwar University, Banten. The research employs the qualitative research design with the characteristics of action research. It uses a triangulation of data collection methods involving questionnaire, observation, and interview. The findings reveal that the implementation of Smart Fingers technique is helpful and easy to conduct. In addition, this technique can improve students’ tenses mastery. In relation to the students’ responses on the technique, it is found that the students respond the technique positively. Moreover, they feel happy and enthusiastic to practice this technique in learning and mastering English tenses. Based on the findings of this research, it is significant for the teachers to choose the appropriate technique for improving students’ tenses mastery, particularly Smart Fingers technique as mentioned above. It is also wise for the teachers to identify the students’ responses on the technique used to determine which technique is appropriate for them.  The findings are also expected to encourage other researchers to investigate the effects of this technique on other students’ ability in grammar mastery. Key words: Smart Fingers technique, tenses, grammar.

Abstract

Makalah penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki pengaruh penggunaan media gambar terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa.  Makalah penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kuantitatif, penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol.  Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII MTs Masyariqul Anwar yang berjumlah 9 siswa, kemudian yang menjadi sampel penelitian ini hanya dua kelas yaitu VIII E dan VIII F yang berjumlah 60 siswa.  Masing-masing kelas berjumlah 30 siswa, yaitu kelas VIII E sebagai kelas Eksperimen dan kelas VIII F sebagai Kontrol.  Berdasarkan hasil data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan perlakuan menggunakan gambar pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol menggunakan wall chart.  Peneliti menemukan bahwa penggunaan media gambar dapat meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa, hal ini terlihat setelah penelitian melakukan perlakuan.  Nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen skor minimum dan maksimum pretest adalah 40 dan 66 dan skor minimum dan maksimum posttest adalah 50 dan 90. Kemudian skor kelas kontrol skor minimum dan maksimum pretest adalah 40 dan 63 dan skor minimum dan maksimum posttest adalah 50 dan 70. Data dianalisis menggunakan program SPSS versi 22 for windows.  Berdasarkan analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengajaran penguasaan kosakata siswa menggunakan gambar adalah signifikan.

Abstract

This research paper aims to investigate a significant effect of Hangman game towards Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at the Eighth Grade of SMP Berdikari Cijaku Lebak-Banten in Academic Year 2022/2023. The research paper used the quantitative research. This research was conducted from August-September, and the researcher has chosen two classes are a control class and an experimental class. The technique in choosing the sample is purposive sampling; the researcher used VIII A (27 students) as class experimental and VIII B (27 students) as class control. The experimental group was taught used hangman game, where as the control group was taught used Bingo game. In the Collecting data technique, the researcher gives pre-test and post-test. The score pre-test of control group are 1.498, the score pre-test of experimental class are 1.688. Then, the score post-test of control group are 1.520, the score post-test of experimental group are 1.702. In analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS  statistical computation and used the result of the post-test both class control and experimental to analyze the hypotheses test. The researcher has found the result of Significant two-tailed = 0.000 < α 0.05. Therefore, the researcher concluded that the usage of hangman game has a significant impact on students’ vocabulary mastery in SMP Berdikari Cijaku, Lebak Banten.

Abstract

This research paper aims to determine The Effect of generating interaction schemata and text Strategy Towards Students’ Narrative Reading Comprehension Grade at the Tenth of SMAN 1 Cigemblong. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design research method, which uses three concepts, namely, pre-test, treatment and post-test. Which is where a pre-test would be carried out before giving treatment, and treatment carried out in five meetings, after giving treatment, students given a post-test to get the results of this study. The result reveal that using the strategy generating interaction schemata and text (GIST) is very helpful and easy for students to learn, this media can improve students' reading comprehension.

Abstract

Makalah penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode pembelajaran mandiri terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa dalam teks recount di kelas sepuluh SMA Negeri 9 Pandeglang. Makalah ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif dan metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain pre-test dan post-test, sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan tentang metode self-directed learning. Data diperoleh dari tujuh pertemuan, lima pertemuan untuk treatment, dan dua pertemuan untuk pre-test dan post-test. Data diperoleh dari 2 kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen pada penelitian ini adalah X.I dan kelas kontrol adalah X.E. Masing-masing kelas berjumlah 36 siswa, sehingga jumlah sampel adalah 72 siswa. terdapat peningkatan keterampilan menulis siswa pada lima aspek: isi, pengorganisasian, kosa kata, penggunaan bahasa, dan mekanika. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari prestasi siswa dalam keterampilan menulis teks recount meningkat. Pada kelas pertama, nilai rata-rata pre-test kelas eksperimen adalah 38,72, sedangkan nilai rata-rata pre-test kelas kontrol adalah 32,28. Sedangkan hasil post-test diperoleh nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen adalah 55,11, sedangkan nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol adalah 48,50. Perhitungan hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan SPSS versi 25.0. Hasil yang diperoleh dari uji hipotesis adalah 0,00 < 0,05. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian ini, terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan Metode Self Direct Learning terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa dalam teks recount di kelas sepuluh SMA Negeri 9 Pandeglang pada tahun ajaran 2023/2024.

Abstract

This research paper aim to investigation the effect of comic strips media towards students’ Reading Comprehension in narrative text an experimental study at the Tenth Grade Students’ of SMAN 1 Cijaku. The research paper used the quantitative research design with the characteristics of experimental method that is design into two classes. They are experimental and control class. The population of this research is class X of SMAN 1 Cijaku, they consists 134 students. The sample of this research is X1 as an experimental class consists 33 students and X2 as a control class consists of 35 students. The total of sample is 68 students. The instrument is a test and data of this research are collected by giving pre-test and post-test. The data is analyzed using SPSS version 25.0 program including mean, standard deviation and t-test.  It could be seen from the result of the post-test of experimental and control class. The findings reveal that the data analysis and interpretation of the research, it is clear there is a significant effect of comic strips media towards students’ reading comprehension in narrative text an experimental study at the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Cijaku.  It can be seen, the minimum score pre-test is 15, maximum is 45, mean 26.14 and standard deviation 7.867. While the minimum score post-test control class is 20, maximum 60, mean 36.43 and standard deviation 9.360. Furthermore, the minimum score of control class is 15, maximum 50, mean 33.64 and standard deviation 8.685. While the minimum score post-test of experimental class is 30, maximum 60, mean 46.06 and standard deviation 8.174. The result of t-test obtained sig. value 0.000 ≤ ??? = 0.05. Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It can conclude that there is a significant effect of comic strips media towards students reading comprehension in narrative text.

Abstract

The research paper aims to investigate the effect of quizlet application towards students’ vocabulary mastery at the eighth grade of SMP-IT Mathla’ul Anwar Malingping Lebak, Banten. This research was conducted for five weeks at the class eighth grade of SMP-IT Mathla’ul Anwar Malingping. The method of the research was used quantitative approach and the research design used quasi experimental design and and purposive sampling. The population of this study was 38 students. The sample of this study was 38 eighth grade of SMP-IT Mathla’ul Anwar Malingping, which were divided into experimental and control groups, and each group consisted of 19 students. To collect data, each group was given a pre-test and post-test. The data analysis technique used paired sample t-test which is calculated using SPSS 25. The results of this research of the post-test of the experimental class 88.42 and the control class 84.42 then, this results of the t-test obtained a significance value of 0.000 ≤ α = 0.05. These results show that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. So, this research is a significant effect on vocabulary mastery by using quizlet application.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan karena peneliti mengidentifikasi beberapa tantangan berbicara yang dihadapi siswa berdasarkan pengalamannya selama kegiatan observasi di Mas Mathla'ul Anwar Pusat Menes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh signifikan penggunaan kanal YouTube “Speak English with Tiffani” terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas XI di Mas Mathla’ul Anwar Pusat Menes pada Tahun Ajaran 2025/2026. Kelas eksperimen diajarkan dengan menggunakan kanal YouTube “Speak English with Tiffani”, sedangkan kelas kontrol diajarkan dengan menggunakan metode konvensional Role Play. Dalam teknik pengumpulan data, peneliti memberikan pre-test dan post-test. Jumlah skor pre-test di kelas kontrol adalah 1510. Sementara itu, jumlah skor post-test di kelas kontrol adalah 2070. Jumlah skor pre-test di kelas eksperimen adalah 1585. Sementara itu, jumlah skor post-test di kelas eksperimen adalah 2215. Rata-rata pre-test di kelas kontrol adalah 50,00. Sementara itu, rata-rata post-test di kelas kontrol adalah 68,83. Kemudian, rata-rata pre-test di kelas eksperimen adalah 48,83. Sementara itu, rata-rata post-test di kelas eksperimen adalah 68,17. Oleh karena itu, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa penggunaan kanal YouTube Speak English with Tiffani memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa di Mas Mathla'ul Anwar Pusat Menes

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa kelas XI SMAN 10 Pandeglang pada tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi-eksperimen dan desain kelompok kontrol. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMAN 10 Pandeglang, dengan jumlah sampel 60 siswa yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok: kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kemampuan membaca berbasis HOTS yang diberikan dalam bentuk pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor posttest kelas eksperimen adalah 68,17, sedangkan rata-rata skor posttest kelas kontrol adalah 66,83. Analisis data menggunakan uji-t independen menunjukkan adanya perbedaan hasil kemampuan membaca antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan HOTS berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa kelas XI SMAN 10 Pandeglang.
