Abstract

Language is considered to be a system of communicating with other people using sounds, symbols and words in expressing a meaning, idea or thought. Speaking is the action of convey information or expressing the idea and feelings in spoken English. This research explained about analysis the anxiety students’ speaking in English at the eleventh grade of Vocational High School Bina Insan Mandiri Lebak in the academic year of 2023/2024. In this research, the researcher use qualitative approach while the research method will use descriptive qualitative method. The researcher would carry out the steps of the research, namely the process of data collection, data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions and verification. There were three types of student anxiety in speaking English at the Eleventh Grade of Vocational High School Bina Insan Mandiri Banjarsari Lebak, they are State Anxiety, when the students feel panic and may stress when they want to speak in English, Trait Anxiety, when the students feel nervous when they do not understand the teacher explanation, and Specific-situation Anxiety, when the students should do examination about speaking. There were three factors caused the students anxiety in speaking English at the Eleventh Grade of Vocational High School Bina Insan Mandiri Banjarsari Lebak, they are communication apprehension, where the students could not speak English because they have little experience with English and do not always practice English, test anxiety, where the students feel anxious because they have to do the test that the teacher assigns to them, and fear of negative evaluation when the student are afraid of being judged negatively by their teachers and of being mocked by their classmates if they make mistakes when speaking English.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigated the significant effect of Pictionary Gametoward the students’ vocabulary mastery. This research approach was quantitative approach and a quasi-experimental method with achievement test in collecting data.  Achievement test included pr-test and post test. The population was 40 students and the sample of this research was 40 students that consisted of 20 student of experimental class and 20 student of control class. The experimental class used Pictionary Game and control class used Mime Game. The data was analyzed by using statistical of program SPSS22. Based on the result of data analysis, the result showed that mean of post-test both experimental and control class different are 69.35 and 58.20 and for the result of t-test obtained sign score 0.000 <a = 0.05. The result indicated the alternative hypothesis was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected. Based on the findings of this research, there is significant PictionaryGametowards students’vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

This research is about a syntactical analysis of phrases in song lyrics of Dream by Babymonster wuth using Bottom-up tree diagram by Carnie. This research aims to analyze the type and the sum of phrases used in Dream by Babymonster song lyrics. This research used a qualitative approach with a qualitative descriptive method. The data collection technique in this research involved observation, documentation, and checklists. The finding showed that data had all types of phrases based on theory of Carnie, such as noun phrase, verb phrase, adjective phrase, adverb phrase, and prepositional phrase. All phrases found amounted to 150. Those are 65 noun phrases, 51 verb phrases, 16 adverb phrases, 11 prepositional phrases, and 7 adjective phrases. This research can be a contribution in teaching materials, particularly those related to phrases in Syntax subject.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of using the Pecha Kucha method (independent variable) on students’ speaking skills (dependent variable) in the eleventh grade of SMAN 10 Pandeglang in the academic year 2025/2026. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The population consisted of all eleventh-grade students, while the sample was selected using cluster random sampling, resulting in 60 students equally divided into the experimental class (XI-1) and the control class (XI-4). The research instrument was a speaking test covering five aspects: fluency, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and comprehension, which had been tested for validity and reliability prior to use. The study was conducted over four meetings, including a pre-test, treatment, and post-test. In the experimental class, the pre-test scores ranged from 32 to 64 with a mean of 44.13 and a standard deviation of 9.066, while the post-test scores ranged from 40 to 96 with a mean of 68.13 and a standard deviation of 12.539. In the control class, the pre-test scores ranged from 32 to 60 with a mean of 43.60 and a standard deviation of 7.600, whereas the post-test scores ranged from 44 to 88 with a mean of 59.60 and a standard deviation of 9.705. The findings indicate that the Pecha Kucha method has a significant positive effect on students’ speaking skills. Therefore, this method is recommended as an alternative strategy in teaching speaking, as it can improve students’ fluency, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and comprehension in a structured and engaging manner.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan karena peneliti mengidentifikasi beberapa tantangan berbicara yang dihadapi siswa berdasarkan pengalamannya selama kegiatan observasi di Mas Mathla'ul Anwar Pusat Menes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh signifikan penggunaan kanal YouTube “Speak English with Tiffani” terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas XI di Mas Mathla’ul Anwar Pusat Menes pada Tahun Ajaran 2025/2026. Kelas eksperimen diajarkan dengan menggunakan kanal YouTube “Speak English with Tiffani”, sedangkan kelas kontrol diajarkan dengan menggunakan metode konvensional Role Play. Dalam teknik pengumpulan data, peneliti memberikan pre-test dan post-test. Jumlah skor pre-test di kelas kontrol adalah 1510. Sementara itu, jumlah skor post-test di kelas kontrol adalah 2070. Jumlah skor pre-test di kelas eksperimen adalah 1585. Sementara itu, jumlah skor post-test di kelas eksperimen adalah 2215. Rata-rata pre-test di kelas kontrol adalah 50,00. Sementara itu, rata-rata post-test di kelas kontrol adalah 68,83. Kemudian, rata-rata pre-test di kelas eksperimen adalah 48,83. Sementara itu, rata-rata post-test di kelas eksperimen adalah 68,17. Oleh karena itu, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa penggunaan kanal YouTube Speak English with Tiffani memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa di Mas Mathla'ul Anwar Pusat Menes

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa kelas XI SMAN 10 Pandeglang pada tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi-eksperimen dan desain kelompok kontrol. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMAN 10 Pandeglang, dengan jumlah sampel 60 siswa yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok: kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kemampuan membaca berbasis HOTS yang diberikan dalam bentuk pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor posttest kelas eksperimen adalah 68,17, sedangkan rata-rata skor posttest kelas kontrol adalah 66,83. Analisis data menggunakan uji-t independen menunjukkan adanya perbedaan hasil kemampuan membaca antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan HOTS berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa kelas XI SMAN 10 Pandeglang.
