Abstract

Nickel is an important strategic resource and has become a key material for the development of modern aerospace and defense industries, infrastructure and technology. The research area is located in block X, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi. The purpose of this study is to analyze the type of bedrock using petrographic analysis based on the research location. The research method used is direct observation in the field and laboratory analysis. The morphology of the research site belongs to the geomorphological unit of denudational origin, divided into two topography, namely denudational hills with gentle slopes (4-8° or 7-15%) and denudational hills with moderate-sloping slopes (8-16° or 15-30%). The bedrock that has been successfully analyzed at the research site is a cretaceous serpentinized peridotite unit.

Abstract

The tectonic condition of Gorontalo, which is located in the north of Sulawesi Island has implications for the spread of geothermal potential. The area in Gorontalo with the largest geothermal potential is the Suwawa area, Bone Bolango Regency. Therefore, this study aims to develop a model of lineament extraction from a digital elevation model and analyze the geological structure control based on the lineament distribution. This research is useful for the development of knowledge in the geothermal field, especially the study of permeability and structural control in geothermal areas. This research is beneficial for the community because it can detect the permeability zone in more detail which is the basis for the utilization of geothermal potential. The factors studied in this study are the geological lineament density and the geological structures. To achieve the research objectives, extraction methods and model analysis include analysis of permeable and control of geological structures. The lineament extraction model from the digital elevation model in the Suwawa geothermal area shows that there is a moderate to high agreement for lineament extraction from NATIONAL DEM data and low to moderate agreement for lineament extraction from SRTM data. The lineament distribution showing moderate to high density occupies the southern, eastern, and western parts of the Suwawa geothermal area. The presence of a lineament controls the circulation of geothermal fluids in the Suwawa geothermal area.

Abstract

Abstract

Reservoir rocks are hollow rocks below the surface that are capable of storing and flowing groundwater that can be utilized by the community. The limestone facies is a good reservoir rock. The characteristics of the limestone facies in the Ombulo Region, Gorontalo Regency, which reach 3.42 km2, are very interesting to study. This study aims to analyze the porosity value of each limestone facies in the study area. The research method used consisted of field geological surveys and petrographic laboratory analysis. The results showed that the study area consisted of four limestone facies namely floatstone facies, mudstone facies, wackestone facies, and rudstone facies. The potential of limestone in the Ombulo area as reservoir rock is in the poor to very good category.

Abstract

The research location is in Pontolo Village, Mananggu Sub-district, Boalemo District, Gorontalo Province. The research location has rock slopes with a discontinuity area in the form of fractures in the rock body, which is a factor causing landslides. The research aims to determine geological conditions, rock mass quality, types of potential landslides, and recommendations for slope stability. The methods used are direct field observation, Scanline Mapping, Rock mass Rating (RMR), kinematics analysis, and Slope Mass Rating (SMR). The results of the geomorphological research of the research area are units of lava flow plains and units of intrusive hills. The lithology of the research area is in the form of granodiorite units and porphyry dacite units, while the geological structure is in the form of joints. Scanline mapping is carried out in 4 segments: segment 1, segment 2, segment 3 and segment 4. The rock mass class consists of 2 classes, a good class and a fair class. Types of landslides consist of wedge sliding and toppling sliding. SMR consists of 2 classes, stable and unstable, the results of observations that unstable slopes need to be handled in slope reinforcement.

Abstract

The research area is in Block O Bunta Region, Banggai Regency. The research area includes areas with laterite nickel deposits in Central Sulawesi Province. Based on the Luwuk Sheet Geological Map, the Bunta area is included in the Ku Formation (Ultramafic Complex) composed of serpentinite, gabbro, basalt, and schist rocks. The aim of this study was to analyze the characteristics of laterite nickel deposits in Block O, Bunta Region, Banggai Regency. To achieve this goal, several research methods were carried out, namely field geological survey methods and laboratory analysis. The field geological survey includes detailed geological mapping and coring drilling data collection. The field geological survey includes observations of rocks and geomorphology of the study area. Meanwhile, laboratory analysis includes coring data analysis. The total drilling samples analyzed came from 40 drill points. The results and discussion show that the geomorphology of the study area is classified into denudational hill units. The lithology in the study area based on the analysis results is serpentinized peridotite. The characteristics of nickel laterite deposits in the study area consist of limonite and saprolite zones. The limote zone has a characteristic reddish brown color dominated by hematite minerals and yellowish brown dominated by goethith minerals. While the saprolite zone is dominated by a greenish-yellow color with its constituent minerals namely serpentine, goethith, silica.

Abstract

Indonesia has very diverse and unique rocks that have the potential to become a geological heritage. Based on the existing potential, an integrated management system is needed so that it can be utilized for the welfare of the community, one of which is a geopark. Gorontalo has a rock distribution consisting of several formations, one of which is the Tinombo Formation which is the oldest formation. In this formation there is red limestone which has great potential due to its rarity so that it can be developed into a site in the development of a geopark in Gorontalo. The purpose of this research is to conduct a geosite assessment of geological features in Boalemo Regency as a basis for developing geotourism in Boalemo Regency, Gorontalo. The research site is located in Dimito Village, Wonosari Subdistrict and Lahumbo Village, Tilamuta Subdistrict, Boalemo Regency, Gorontalo Province. The methods used in this research are lithological analysis, Geochemical analysis and geosite potential analysis using the technical guidelines for geological heritage resource assessment by the Geological Survey Center. The results showed that the red color-controlling minerals in limestone are hematite and rodoxite, the red color-controlling chemical elements in limestone are SiO2, MnO, Fe2O3, Sr and CaO. The results of the assessment of geological features explain that the Wonosari Red Limestone Site and the Tilamuta Red Limestone Site are included in the medium category. Geosite Red Limestone can be developed as an object of study in the field of education by utilizing natural laboratories for the development of geoparks in Gorontalo.
