Abstract

Background: The problem examined in this study is the accuracy of the FNAB examination compared to the gold standard histopathology. Objective: To determine the value of sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values , and the accuracy of the FNABMethod: This study uses a retrospective method. The population was patients with thyroid nodules in Pare Regional Hospital, Kediri, in 2015-2019. The sampling technique is Simple Random Sampling Probability. The sample was the patients who had been diagnosed with thyroid nodules and underwent FNAB examination followed by histopathology biopsy. The instrument used was secondary data collection inpatient medical record data. The data can be processed through diagnostic tests. Results: FNAB sensitivity value of 66.6%, a specificity value of 97%, a positive predictive value of 90.9%, and a negative predictive value of 86.8%, and an accuracy rate of 87.7%Conclusion: FNAB can be used as a first-line examination in diagnosing thyroid nodules but cannot replace histopathological examination as a gold standard.

Abstract

Submandibular abscess is an inflammation and is accompanied by pus formation in the submandibular region and there are clinical symptoms in the form of sore throat, fever and limited movement of opening the mouth. Submandibular abscess is included in one of the odontogenic abscesses that are often found, cases increase in the transition season when the human body's immunity decreases causing the body to be less able to fight bacteria, this abscess comes from premolars or molars a lower jaw that spreads in a lingual direction below m. Mylohyoid. Knowing the relationship between submandibular abscesses and odontogenic infections. This type of study is observational using the cross sectional method in hospitals. Siti Khadija Throughout. Samples are selected by consecutive sampling. Data collection of submandibular abscesses and odontogenic infections were taken from medical records. The results of the medical record were analyzed with the Spearman correlation analysis test. Theistic characteristics of submandibular abscess patients at Siti Khodijah Muhammadiyah Hospital Branch Along Sidoarjo that were observed in this study were gender, age, occupation, length of treatment, comorbidities, complications and management. There was no significant association between age with submandibular abscesses and sex with submandibular abscesses (p > 0.05). The largest types of odontogenic infections in the study were cellulitis and mouth abscesses (86.5%). There was a significant association between submandibular abscess and odontogenic infection with the contingency correlation test (p<0.05) and with the Spearman correlation test (p<0.05). There is a significant association between submandibular abscesses and odontogenic infections.

Abstract

Background: Across all age ranges, one in a thousand people is diagnosed with ileus annually. Ileus is categorized into two types, obstructive ileus, and paralytic ileus. Obstructive ileus is a condition where intestinal passage disorder occurs as a result of a mechanical blockage. There are 7,024 obstructive ileus without hernia in Indonesia and 7,059 paralytic ileus cases in 2004.Objective: To understand the comparison of characteristics of obstructive ileus patients.Method: This analytic descriptive research use the cross-sectional method. Samples are diagnosed with ileus based on the laparotomy result from RSUD Dr. Soegiri, Lamongan. The sampling method is total sampling based on 2015-2019 data. The samples were also using secondary data from medical records, from December 2019 to January 2020.Result: Respondents are mostly male with ages 65 years and over, less than ten days treatment duration, 39 minutes in the average length of partial bowel obstruction surgery duration, 42 minutes in the average length of total bowel obstruction surgery duration, less than two days treatment duration before surgery, percentage of ICU admission as high as 51.5 %, and blood transfusion percentage on 6.1%.  There are significant differences in the characteristics of ileus patient’s age (p-value 0,021).Conclusion: Based on this study, it can be concluded that there are differences based on age in the characteristics of partial bowel obstruction and total bowel obstruction on ileus patients, whereas gender, treatment duration, treatment duration before surgery, and surgery duration did not deliver any differences.

Abstract

Soedomo Trenggalek periode 2020-2021.

Abstract

AbstractAppendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix vermiformis caused by a blockage in the formof fecalit or infection and is the cause of most cases of acute abdomen that occur. Acuteabdomen requires emergency action, many cases of appendicitis in Indonesia require fast andprecise action to prevent perforation. The diagnosis of acute appendicitis is based on history, physical examination, and supporting examinations such as ultrasound examination (USG).Management of appendicitis can be operative and non-operative. Conservative managementof antibiotics in uncomplicated appendicitis will have a risk of recurrent appendicitis rangingfrom 16-40% of initial treatment within one year. However, if the patient's condition worsensor treatment with antibiotics is unsuccessful, an appendectomy is performed either by opensurgery or by laparoscopy. Acute abdominal pain in Covid-19 patients poses a dilemma fordoctors, delaying surgical management can lead to serious complications and even death. Viceversa, performing unnecessary surgery on Covid-19 patients causes iatrogenic morbidity anddeath. Therefore, the surgeon is obliged to adhere to the protocol established by the IndonesianGeneral Surgeons Society. Keywords: appendicitis, pandemi, COVID-19
