Abstract

Background: Triple-negative breast cancer has a percentage of 15% to 20% in breast cancer patients at the time of first diagnosis. Guidelines from St. Gallen guidelines, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American College of Pathology state that triple-negative breast cancer is breast cancer with ER and PR expression <1%. As an aggressive subtype, outcomes are poor when compared with hormone receptor-positive. Methods: This research is an observational study. The research subjects in this study were triple-negative breast cancer patients in Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital, Surgical Oncology division, West Java, Indonesia, from October 2018 - November 2023. There were 702 research subjects who would be studied. Characteristics of triple-negative breast cancer were taken from medical records. Results: The results showed that the average age of the subjects was 47 years. Based on histology, the most common was Invasive Carcinoma of no special type (86.75%), followed by Invasive lobular carcinoma (7.26%), medullary carcinoma (1.7%), micropapillary carcinoma (0.99%), metaplastic carcinoma (2.36%) and the least amount is Pleomorphic invasive lobular carcinoma (0.71%). The side of the breast affected is not significant, and the highest grade is 3. The involvement of lymph node metastases is due to aggressive tumor subtypes and lymphovascular invasion. Lymphovascular invasion is known to be a negative prognostic factor. It is a late stage for metastasis and local recurrence. Conclusion: Triple-negative breast cancer is breast cancer that has histopathological heterogeneity; most of the tumors are grade 3 and have significant metastases in regional lymph nodes. There is no significant relationship between grading and regional lymph node metastases. there is a significant relationship between lymphovascular invasion and regional lymph nodes metastases.

Abstract

Background: Parathyroid tumors are the most common endocrine neoplasms, with hyperparathyroidism as the main clinical manifestation. Parathyroid adenoma is the most common benign neoplasm, while parathyroid carcinoma is relatively rare but difficult to differentiate from benign disorders. This study aims to describe the characteristics of parathyroid tumor patients at Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSHS) Bandung over the last 5 years. Methods: This descriptive observational research was carried out by collecting medical record data from parathyroid tumor patients at RSHS Bandung for the 2019-2023 period. Parameters identified included age, gender, and histopathological type. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS univariately. Results: There were 12 patients with parathyroid tumors with an increasing trend in cases over the last 5 years. The average age of patients was 37.33 years, with the majority (9 cases) being women. Parathyroid adenoma was the most common histopathological type (8 cases), followed by parathyroid carcinoma (2 cases), osteitis fibrocystica (1 case), and bone deformity (1 case). One patient with parathyroid adenoma was also diagnosed with fibrous dysplasia. Conclusion: The majority of cases of parathyroid tumors at RSHS Bandung occur in women, with the incidence of parathyroid carcinoma being the same in men and women. Parathyroid adenoma is the most common histopathological type, and bone abnormalities complications can occur in patients with parathyroid disorders (3 patients).

Abstract

The study of Arabic grammar within mixed-age classrooms has become an increasingly observable phenomenon in contemporary language learning settings. This intergenerational composition creates a distinctive instructional environment that presents both unique challenges and meaningful opportunities for Arabic language educators. This study explores how learning unfolds and how teachers manage and respond to the diverse classroom composition. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through classroom observations, and in-depth interviews with teachers, learners, and administrators, complemented by document analysis. The data were analyzed thematically using Instructional Design Theory (IDT) as the analytical framework. Findings reveal that the age-diverse learning environment brings variations in individual needs and motivations, which are actively accommodated through an adaptive learning cycle. In this cycle, strategies are continuously adjusted in response to students’ needs and interactions, ensuring dynamic and effective classroom engagement. This study represents one of the earliest efforts in Indonesia to explore the dynamics of mixed-age Arabic language learning, providing valuable insights for designing and managing instruction in age-diverse classrooms. The findings not only offer practical pedagogical guidance for educators but also establish a foundational framework for future scholarship on intergenerational learning within Arabic language education.

Abstract

This study explores the use of conventional teaching media in Arabic language instruction at a Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Kuningan, using constructivist theory as an analytical framework. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through classroom observations and interviews with teachers and students, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. Findings show that while blackboards and textbooks align with students’ cognitive development, their use does not fully support active, collaborative, or reflective learning. Lower-grade students remain teacher-dependent, whereas upper-grade students begin to show autonomy, though collaborative interaction is still minimal. This research highlights the untapped potential of conventional media in resource-limited settings and contributes to the theoretical discourse on constructivism by emphasizing the need for more participatory and contextual learning strategies. It calls for teachers to redesign instruction that integrates constructivist principles with available media to foster deeper student engagement. Future studies should compare conventional and digital media across diverse contexts to further enrich the pedagogical application of constructivist theory in language learning.
