Abstract

The Acehnese have a long history of disaster preparedness due to their experience with natural disasters, including tsunamis and epidemics. During the COVID-19 outbreak, Aceh has benefited from many lessons from collaboration at the central, regional, and village/gampong levels by the government and PENTAHELIX actors such as communities, academics, religious leaders, mass media, entrepreneurs, philanthropy, and local wisdom combined with modern technology for cross-border mobility. Handling COVID-19 in Aceh has strengths in the form of unique local wisdom and privileges of Aceh Province. This paper provides the best lessons on readiness, response, recovery efforts, a new disaster risk reduction approach, and future recommendations from the Aceh Province during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Acehnese’s local wisdom is salt, water in the jar (le lam guci), henna on fingers (pakek gaca), chewing betel leaf (pajoh ranup), burning rice (tuet leumang), isolation of the sick, and hold a prayer, is obtained from the plague experience in the past.

Abstract

Various risks influencing a worker’s life must be anticipated by synchronizing the worker, work process, and work environment through an ergonomic approach. This study aims at evaluating the synchronization between work station and work posture and recommending the improvement of work station and facilities in the attempt to minimize the complaint of pain caused by their working. The evaluation was conducted by means of a survey method at the UKM Logam (a small business in metal industrial construction) on Jalan Mahkamah Medan with samples of 10 workers working in the welding section. The taking of workers’ anthropometric is an indicator in evaluating the synchronization between workers and work station which is supported by observing the result of the study reveals that there is no working facility in the welding section that the workers do not feel comfortable while working. In addition, the work posture including work attitude is not ergonomically formed that which makes several parts of the worker’s body tired and painful. In the body map questioners, the pain felt by the workers is dominantly found in the area of neck, shoulder, back, waist and calves. For this purpose, the work station needs improvement by setting the position of equipment and machine within the worker’s reach, 75.6 cm (5-th percentile). The benchwork should be adjustable to the height of 92 cm, 95 cm, and 98 cm. The stool (dengklek) should have a height of 14 cm.Berbagai risiko yang mempengaruhi kehidupan pekerja harus diantisipasi dengan menyelaraskan pekerja, proses kerja, dan lingkungan kerja melalui pendekatan ergonomis.

Abstract

This study analyzes the level of disaster preparedness in inpatient health centers in Toba Regency. The variables studied were disaster potential, structural safety, non-structural safety, and functional aspects. The results showed that the preparedness scores for the Ajibata Inpatient Health Center and the Parsoburan Inpatient Health Center required both inpatient health centers to intervene in the near future because they still had risks when facing disasters. Meanwhile, the Laguboti Inpatient Health Center is considered capable of protecting human life and still functioning in the event of a disaster. The structural safety score of the Ajibata Inpatient Health Center reflects that the structural security is adequate for disaster events. Meanwhile, the Parsoburan Inpatient Health Center still has a risk for disaster events. The non-structural safety scores of the Ajibata and Laguboti Inpatient Health Centers both still have risks in dealing with disasters. The Parsoburan Inpatient Health Center is not ready to face a disaster. The value of the functional aspects of the three Inpatient Health Centers shows that the three Inpatient Health Centers are not functionally ready to face disaster events. It is recommended that the three Inpatient Health Centers should continue to improve disaster preparedness.

Abstract

The majority of complaints involving the skeletal-muscle system are brought on by excessive muscle contraction as a result of exerting an excessive workload for an extended period of time. Ergonomics is the study of work harmony in a system. In its application, work will be safe for workers/humans and work efficiency will increase so that human welfare is achieved. Quantitative cross-sectional or cross-sectional research, or research that aims to examine the relationship between ergonomic risk (awkward posture, workload, duration and frequency) with work-related skeletal muscle disorders in nurses at the Hajj Generali Hospital, Medani City in 2023. The populace in this study were all nurses at Medan Hajj General Hospital. The Slovin formula was used in this study's sample selection, which resulted in 75 respondents. With a p value of 0.000, statistical tests performed with chi-square showed that awkward postures and work-related skeletal muscle disorders are related. There is also a relationship between workload and skeletal muscle disorders due to workp value of 0.009, there is a relationship between duration and skeletal muscle disorders due to work withp value of 0.018 and the relationship between frequency and skeletal muscle disorders due to work withp value of 0.000. It was discovered in the multivariate analysis that awkward postures and frequency were the dominant factors affecting skeletal-muscle disorders due to work in nurses at the Medan Hajj General Hospital in 2023, the value obtained p value of 0.000 with Odd Ratio 100.189 for awkward posture and p value of 0.045 with Odd Ratio of 8.237 for frequency. It is normal that nurses will actually want to apply work breaks or light extending for a couple of moments after carrying out repetitive activities for a long duration and for the directorate of Medan Hajj Hospital to pay more attention to and implement work stations with an ergonomic position.
