Abstract

Background: Noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia) has been used as herbal medicine by Indonesian people. However, the effect of noni leaves as an antihyperglycemic agent is still unknown. This study was conducted to find out the effect of Morinda citrifolia leaves on glucose absorption through intestinal epithelial membrane in wistar rat models.Methods: The study was conducted in November 2015 at the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Laboratory Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran. We used in situ perfusion and rats were divided into 2 groups. The first group used glucose solution as a control. The second group used glucose with extracts. Specimens were taken before and after perfusion to check the amount of glucose with spectrophotometer. Statistical analysis using t-test was conducted to compare the total absorbed concentration of glucose from each group. Results: From calculation we found the kinetic value (Km) of glucose absorption without extract (Km=17.24) and with extract (Km=16.67). Statistical test showed there was no significant in results (p>0.05).Conclusions: There is no effect of Morinda citrifolia leaf extract on glucose absorption. However, kinetics of glucose absorption suggested a non-competitive inhibition by Morinda citrifolia leaf extract.

Abstract

Objective: To observe the effects of infused oyster mushroom (latin name: Pleurotus ostreatus) on glucose absorption through the intestinal mucosal membrane in Wistar rats.Methods: This study used experimental design. Subjects of this study were six Wistar rats which were randomly divided into two groups; three rats were used for the analysis of the most effective time for glucose absorption and the other three were used to evaluate the effect of infused oyster mushroom on glucose absorption. The intestine of subjects was connected to in situ perfusion machine. Control glucose solution (Ctr) or glucose solution containing 5% (Oys 5%), 10% (Oys 10%), and 20% (Oys 20%) infused oyster mushroom was added into the perfusion machine and flowed back and forth in the lumen of intestine subsequently, accompanied by washing procedures using 0.9% NaCl between treatments. The glucose concentration was determined using deproteinization method followed by absorbance measurement. Student’s t test was performed to analyze the difference between groups.Results: The level of glucose absorbed through intestinal mucosal membrane in control glucose solution and glucose solution with different concentrations of infused oyster mushroom, i.e. 5%, 10% or 20%, was 25.19+3.4 mg/dL, 16.27+0.86 mg/dL, 13.22+1.58 mg/dL and 10.03+1.25 mg/dL, respectively. Student’s t test showed significant differences between groups; Ctr and Oys 5% (p=0.03), Ctr and Oys 10% (p=0.02), and Ctr and Oys 20% (p=0.007).Conclusion: Infused oyster mushroom inhibits glucose absorption through intestinal mucosal membrane in Wistar rats.Keywords: Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus), glucose absorption, intestine DOI: 10.15850/ijihs.v6n2.1354

Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia is a major health problem in pregnant women and has a detrimental effect on mothers and newborns. Given the consequences of anemia during pregnancy, an easy and accurate diagnosis is important. During this measurement of hemoglobin levels by involves taking the blood invasively, causing discomfort and trauma for the patient. Therefore, a hemoglobin level gauge is required using a non-invasive oxymeter system, in which the patient will be free of pain with minimal risk of infection and allow for the monitoring of the patient in critical condition. The purpose of this study was to compare the results of hemoglobin concentration using an oxyhemoglobinometer with automated hematology analyzer as gold standard to know the difference of result of accuracy. This study is a diagnostic test with cross sectional design. 78 normal pregnant women who checked their pregnancy at the center of health in Bantul district, each of them are examined their hemoglobin level by using the oxyhemoglobinometer and automated hematology analyzer as a comparison. For the different results were used pairwise t test, and with diagnostic test formula obtained accuracy values. There is a difference between the oxyhemoglobinometer tool with the average of 12.2 ± 1.7 and in the automated hematology analyzer obtained an average of 11.6 ± 1.2. With a value of p 0.001 which means there is a significant difference between the two tools. The results of the diagnostic test analysis obtained an accuracy of 69.2%. The oxyhemoglobinometer device cannot be used as an accurate measurement of hemoglobin levels, because the tool its low of accuracy

Abstract

Kompetensi Bidan masih belum sepenuhnya siap untuk terjun ke lahan praktik. Dampak dari kurangnya kompetensi Bidan akan berimbas pada rendahnya mutu pelayanan kebidanan. Model pembelajaran asuhan kehamilan terintegrasi merupakan model pengajaran atau instruksional untuk membantu mahasiswa mengembangkan pemahaman asuhan kehamilan yang mendalam dan sistematis secara bersamaan dan melatih cara berpikir kritis, melibatkan beberapa nilai mata pelajaran antara lain nilai agama, nilai psikologi, nilai budaya, nilai etika hukum kesehatan, dan nilai komunikasi dan konseling yang diperlukan sehingga batas-batas antar mata pelajaran dapat ditiadakan untuk memberikan pengalaman belajar yang bermakna. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalahmenganalisispengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran asuhan kehamilan terintegrasi terhadap pencapaian kompetensi mahasiswa D-III Kebidanan.Desainpenelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian quasi eksperimen terhadap 87 mahasiswa di STIKES Bhakti Pertiwi Indonesia Jakarta yang terbagi menjadi 2 kelompok yaitu 44 mahasiswa diberi model pembelajaran asuhan kehamilan terintegrasi dan 43 mahasiswa diberi pembelajaran asuhan kehamilan konvensional. Setelah diberi intervensi kedua kelompok diuji kompetensinya yang mencakup pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan tentang asuhan kehamilan.Analisis data menggunakan uji chi-kuadrat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran asuhan kehamilan terintegrasi berpengaruh terhadap pencapaian kompetensi mahasiswa D-III Kebidanan dengan nilai p<0,05, mahasiswa dengan model pembelajaran asuhan kehamilan konvensional memiliki risiko tidak kompeten sebesar 9,3 kali dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran asuhan kehamilan terintegrasi.Simpulan penelitian ini yaitupencapaian kompetensi mahasiswa dengan model pembelajaran asuhan kehamilan terintegrasi lebih baik dibandingkan dengan mahasiswa dengan model pembelajaran asuhan kehamilan konvensional, tetapi belum mampu menjadikan seluruh mahasiwa kompeten, dengan demikian masih diperlukan perbaikan sistem pembelajaran terintegrasi sehingga pencapaian kompetensi dapat tercapai sesuai harapan.

Abstract

Institusi pendidikan bidan bertujuan mencetak lulusan bidan yang memiliki kemampuan baik secara akademik maupun non akademik dan siap kerja. Berbagai upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan soft skill mahasiswa hingga saat ini belum memuaskan. Salah satu cara meningkatkan kualitas soft skill mahasiswa yaitu dengan pelatihan manajemen diri. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis perbedaan kualitas soft skill dari aspek komunikasi, kepemimpinan, dan etika mahasiswa sebelum dan sesudah diberikan pelatihan manajemen diri. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan desain one group pre-test and post-test design. Populasi penelitian mahasiswa Program Studi DIII Kebidanan yang teridentifikasi nilai soft skill rendah berjumlah 47 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan total sampling. Pengukuran soft skill menggunakan kuesioner. Hasil analisis penelitian kualitas soft skill mahasiswa sebelum dan sesudah diberikan pelatihan menunjukkan perbedaan bermakna (p<0,001). Hasil analisis paired t-test untuk aspek komunikasi diperoleh nilai p<0,001 dan uji Wilcoxon untuk aspek kepemimpinan dan etika diperoleh nilai p<0,001. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah soft skill aspek kepemimpinan mengalami peningkatan skor yang lebih tinggi sebesar 36,4%, soft skill aspek etika mendapat peningkatan skor 27,2%, sedangkan soft skill aspek komunikasi hanya meningkat 21,0%

Abstract

Abstract. Stress is the inability to face physical, mental, emotional, and psychological threats that can interfere with the education process. Medical students undergo several types of exams that can cause stress. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused students to carry out oral exams using an online method so that it can be an additional stressor in lectures. This study aims to see the relationship between the stress level of Unisba Medical Faculty students with the results of passing the online oral exam. Methods: The research design used was cross sectional. Student stress levels were measured using the DASS-42 questionnaire and data on the results of online oral exams were recorded after the exam took place. Results: The stress levels experienced by students were normal stress (75.63%), mild stress (6.72%), moderate stress (7.56%), severe stress (3.36%), and very heavy stress (6 ,72%). The results of student graduation obtained are passing (88.24%) and not passing (11.76%). There was no relationship between student stress levels and the results of online oral exams (p=0.684 for level 2 and p=0.156 for level 3). Conclusion: There is no relationship between student stress levels and online oral exam results. Further research needs to look for other causes that can cause stress in medical students and need to analyze in detail the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor levels. Abstrak. Stres adalah ketidakmampuan menghadapi ancaman fisik, mental, emosional, dan psikologis yang dapat mengganggu proses Pendidikan. Mahasiswa kedokteran menjalani beberapa jenis ujian yang dapat menyebabkan stres. Pandemi Covid-19 menyebabkan mahasiswa melaksanakan ujian lisan dengan metode online sehingga dapat menjadi salah satu stresor tambahan dalam perkuliahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan tingkat stres mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Unisba dengan hasil kelulusan ujian lisan secara online. Metode: Desain penelitian yang digunakan adaah cross sectional. Tingkat stres mahasiswa diukur menggunakan kuesioner DASS-42 dan data hasil kelulusan ujian lisan secara online didata setelah ujian berlangsung. Hasil: Tingkat stres yang dialami mahasiswa adalah stres normal (75,63%), stres ringan (6,72%), stres sedang (7,56%), stres berat (3,36%), dan stres sangat berat (6,72%). Hasil kelulusan mahasiswa yang didapatkan yaitu lulus sebesar (88,24%) dan tidak lulus sebesar (11,76%). Tidak terdapat hubungan tingkat stres mahasiswa dengan hasil kelulusan ujian lisan secara online (p=0,684 untuk tingkat 2 dan p=0,156 untuk tingkat 3). Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan tingkat stres mahasiswa dengan hasil kelulusan ujian lisan secara online. Penelitian lanjutan perlu mencari penyebab lain yang dapat menyebabkan stres mahasiswa kedokteran dan perlu menganalisis secara mendetail tentang tingkatan kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor.
