The research instruments used were learning devices and data collection instruments. Learning tools consist of a syllabus, lesson plan (RPP), and student activity sheets (LAS), while the data collection instruments used are observation sheets and KPMM tests. Data from the observation sheet shows that the learning process has improved from cycle I to cycle II. The average KPMM score of students in the first cycle was 68.61, increasing to 86.36 in the second cycle. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model can improve the learning process and the mathematical problem-solving abilities of class VII-B MTs PP Nurul Huda Lubuk Batu Jaya students in the even semester of the 2019/2020 school year.

Abstract

This study is a development research aimed at producing valid and practical worksheets (LKPD) on the topic of phase comparison D. The background of this research is students' low mathematical problem-solving abilities and the importance of worksheets that facilitate students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The development model used is the 4-D development model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The define phase consists of initial and final analysis, student analysis, task analysis, concept analysis, and learning objective specifications. The design phase involves designing the product: the LKPD, validation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The next phase, development, involves validation by three validators, with the average validation percentage of the LKPD being 85.91% in the "very valid" category. Subsequently, a small group trial was conducted with 6 junior high school students, resulting in an average percentage of 87.17% in the "very practical" category. A large group trial was conducted with 38 seventh-grade junior high school students, resulting in an average percentage of 81.91% in the "practical" category. The product was packaged and disseminated in the dissemination phase by providing the developed product to schools. In this study, worksheets based on the Problem-Based Learning model on comparison have met the criteria of validity and practicality.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of students' mathematical critical thinking skills. The facts indicate that the level of critical thinking among Indonesian students still needs to improve, especially in the topics of prism and pyramid spatial structures. This study aims to produce Worksheets (LKPD) based on Contextual Teaching and Learning on the topics of prism and pyramid that are both valid and practical to facilitate the mathematical critical thinking abilities of junior high school students. The type of research employed in this study is research and development, utilizing the 4-D model, which consists of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. Based on the analysis of expert validation sheets, the average validity score of the LKPD is 93.04%, categorized as highly valid. Furthermore, based on the analysis of student response questionnaires in small group trials, the average practicality score of the LKPD is 86.25%, categorized as highly practical. Therefore, the development of LKPD based on Contextual Teaching and Learning on the topics of prism and pyramid to facilitate the mathematical critical thinking skills of junior high school students has met the criteria of both validity and practicality.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning ability is an important skill that students must possess. However, many students have low mathematical reasoning skills. This study aims to develop an assessment instrument for mathematical reasoning ability in comparison content for phase D students that is valid, reliable, and has appropriate discrimination power and difficulty level to train their reasoning. The development model used is a development study with preliminary and formative evaluation stages, including self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one, small group, and field testing. The results of the rational validity (content, construction, and appearance) of the mathematical reasoning ability questions and questionnaires show scores of 3.8 and 3.7 (out of a maximum scale of 4), with criteria of very valid. Item analysis of the mathematical reasoning ability questions produced 8 valid questions with a reliability value of 0.85, indicating a high level of reliability. From the analysis, there are 3 questions with medium difficulty, 3 easy questions, and 2 difficult questions. The discriminative power of the questions shows 1 question with very good criteria, 5 questions with good criteria, and 2 questions with sufficient criteria. Additionally, from the mathematical reasoning ability questionnaire, 14 valid items and 1 invalid item were obtained; the reliability value of 0.85 indicates high criteria; 12 items have sufficient discriminative power and 2 items have poor discriminative power. Thus, the final product of this study is 8 reasoning questions and 12 items of mathematical reasoning ability questionnaire.
