Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of mathematics beliefs ofmathematics education students and their skills in problem solving. The sampleconsisted of 36 junior high school students with the subject Social Arithmetic andComparison. Data were collected by using Mathematics Beliefs Questionnaire andtest questions based on a topic distribution variabel random. The data were analyzeddescriptive statistics and inferensial statistics using Pearson correlation and t-test.The findings showed that there was a moderate correlation between the twovariables. There were no significant differences in terms of mathematical beliefs ofstudents but there is a significant difference to student’s skills in problem solvingconsepts and procedures based on student ability. The components of mathematicsbeliefs were divided into self beliefs in mathematics, belief in mathematics natureand beliefs in teaching and learning of mathematics. Most students especially thehigh level students had better beliefs in mathematics nature than in the other threecomponents. However the corelation of student’s beliefs with student’s skills inproblem solving was 0,675 and sig. 0.017. There was a significant relation betweenstudent’s beliefs and their skills in problem solving consepts and procedures.

Abstract

Abstract: The research is to improve mathematics outcomes by applying the cooperative learning model in type Two Stay Two Stray. The research is classroom action research (PTK) which to cycle. The subjects of this research were the first grade students of SMPN 3 Bangkinang academic year 2014/2015. This action research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle has four stages, these were planning, action, observation, and reflection. Each end of the cycle performed quiz. Data collected through observation sheet showed the ctivity of teachers and learners increasingly performing well after doing the action. Based on the observations of researchers during the learning process in the classroom VIII.2 SMPN 3 Bangkinang, most of the students were active in the learning process are implemented. Achievement attitude in its development more visible in working LKPD, as evidenced by an increase in the number of learners who achieve good and very good category. Same with the achievement of skills of students, the number of learners who are skilled and skilled enough to rise. The percentage of students who achieve the KKM knowledge base score and daily tests (second cycle) respectively is 46,15 %, and 76,92 %. Action is successful if the state after the action better. The results showed that cooperative learning model in type Two Stay Two Stray can improve the learning process and improve learning outcomes VIII.2 grade math students SMPN 3 Bangkinang. Abstract

Abstract : This research aims to improve learning process and increase student’s mathematical achievement through implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL)Model. This type of research is Classroom Action Research with two cycle. The research was conducted in class X Science 1 SMA Negeri 1 Lirik in the second semester of the 2017/2018 academic year. The subject of this research consist of 22 students, there are 12 female students and 10 male students. The research instrument consists of learning materials and instruments for collecting data. Learning materials used in this research are the Syllabus, Lesson Plan and Activity Sheets. Instrument data collectors used in this research are observation sheet and mathematical achievement test. Data analysis techniques in this study are descriptive narrative analysis of qualitative data and descriptive statistics analysis ofquantitative data. Application of PBL model also gives positive impact on the implementation of learning process that students become more active in learning activities so that learning is not centered on the teacher. Students are also trained to build their own knowledge and can find their own mathematical concepts through the presentation of problems close to the student's real life. The percentage of students which ispass Minimum Mastery Crieria (MMC) increase from 31,8% to 59,1% at the first test and to 77,3% at the second test. This research concludes that the implementation of PBL improved the learning process and the student’s mathematical achievement atclass X MIA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Lirik. PBL model can be used as an alternative to learning, because through this learning can improve the learning processand mathematical achievement of the students.Key Words: Classroom Action Research, Problem Based Learning models, Learning outcomes, Learning Process
