Abstract

Abstract. The majority of Boeara people's livelihoods are fishermen, farmers, and copra entrepreneurs. The Boeara Village is bestowed with abundant natural wealth, namely coconut trees which are used by the community as a livelihood such as copra. But unfortunately, coconut coir only becomes waste in Boeara. Coconut coir is just thrown away and burned just like that, not used. Besides being able to increase the income of the community, empowerment is also expected to reduce coconut coir waste. This service activity aims to provide education to the community, especially to coastal women so that they can add economic value from the coconut belt waste. This service uses the Asset Based Community-driven Development (ABCD) method whose main focus is community empowerment by developing the assets they own and the community as the main actors who will lead to change and determine the success of community service activities. With this approach, the community becomes a learning community because all development starts from within the community itself as a partner with students for sustainable better change. The result of community service is that it can increase the selling value of coconut coir waste after it is made into flower pots and various products that have high selling value when marketed, such as flower pots, woven rope, and interior raw materials, so that it can increase the income of the local community, especially in coastal women.
