Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh penggunaan komik sebagai media dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris, terutama menulis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian class action. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dilihat dari nilai dan perilaku siswa selama proses belajar-mengajar. Skor rata-rata pratest siswa adalah 68,26. Ini meningkat dalam posttest dalam siklus pertama adalah 74,6 dan pada pascatest siklus kedua dengan nilai rata-rata 80,93. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan komik sebagai media dalam menulis dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa. Selama pelaksanaan, siswa menjadi lebih aktif dan fokus pada pelajaran.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the ability and difficulty of students inidentifying the generic structure of the recount text. There were some students who had difficulties about the recount text. They did not know the structure of recount text. This research was conducted at SMKN 5 Padang in the 2021/2022 school year. This research used descriptive research. The population of this research were25 students of class XTPM 3 SMKN 5 Padang. The instrumentation of the research was reading test. The results showed that students' reading abilities in the recount text at TPM 3 SMK 5 Padang class could be categorized as good. Based on the data, there were 3 students got excellent (12%), while there were 4 students got very good(16%), then there were 7 students got good (28%), then there were 5 students got sufficient (20%), and last there were 6 students got poor (24%). Based on the research analysis, it can be concluded that students struggled due to lack of vocabulary, and there were some students who did not understand about the text,and had difficulty in determining parts of the generic structure. The researcher suggested to the teacher should give a lot of reading exercises to improve the student's ability in vocabulary and grammar.

Abstract

It needs appropriate and effective media to help the students learn vocabulary. This research used a descriptive method to explore students' perception thoughts toward using song lyrics as a learning media. The population of this research was tenth-grade students of SMAN 9 Padang at the academic year of 2024/2025 The research process used a cluster random sampling technique to decide the subject. The researcher got class X E2 as the sample which consists of 36 students. The researcher used questionnaire to collect the data. There are 20 statements in the questionnaire. The researcher gave the questionnaire to the students by using paper, and the duration for them to fill it was 30 minutes. The researcher used the Likert scale procedure to analyze the data. Based on the finding of the research, the researcher found that about 66.1% participants have positive perception of the use of song lyric for learning English, especially in vocabulary learning. As a result, 77% of students agreed that song lyric is effective media for vocabulary learning, 76% of students have positive perceptions about the learning outcomes, and 64% students also had positive perceptions about the experience while using song lyric as a media for vocabulary learning.
