This tendency is noticed when people use many ways of language variations to communicate or express their thought, ideas, and feelings. One example of these variations is code mixing. Code mixing is insertion of a piece of word other than that of your language, and you have no specific purpose or intention when doing communication. Code mixing is different from borrowing. Code mixing usually happens while people communicate in oral or written and in informal situation. In the case of code mixing, people sometimes mix two languages, particularly between national and a foreign language like English. However, code mixing does not only exist between the languages, there is also the mixing between national and regional languages. The researcher use GADIS to do this research. It was found that there were three forms of code mixing used in advertisement in GADIS. They were words, phrases and sentences which were put in the middle of the sentence of advertisements. Meanwhile, the use of code mixing in advertisements had many functions based on the purposes of communication, as we knew; advertisement was an advertiser’s way to communicate to the consumer, reader in this case. So, in this research it was found that there were three functions of the use of code mixing. They were greeting, informing, and rejecting.

This research discusses the use of address forms created in a conversation in a film entitled 12 Angry Men [1957).This study was conducted to look at the forms of address forms used by participants and related to social factors that influence the choice of address form, as well as the relationship between the choice of address forms and the types of proxemics that occurs between participants. In writing this thesis, the observation method is taken as a method of collecting the data. For method of analyzing the data, the writer uses the content analysis method by analyzing the content of primary data. Technique of collecting the data using qualitative techniques by taking notes in collecting primary data. In the technique of analyzing the data, the writer uses the content analysis technique. From the 20 data analyzed, it was found that there were three types of address forms present in this movie. The first type is the Title with a percentage of 75 percent. The second type is the Nickname with a percentage of 15 percent. The last type is a combination of some forms with a percentage of 10 percent. The social factors that influence the choice of address forms in this film are due to social status, particular occasion and occupational hierarchy. Whereas in proxemic is dominated by the use of social distance. It can be concluded that the occurrence of variations in the use of address forms can be caused by various social factors, and the use of distance (proxemics) and address forms occur at the same time.

Minangkabau people have many dialects, every region has one dialect. Padang and Lintau do not have same dialect. Padang city uses Minangkabau Language because this is a standard language eventhought they has many varieties dialect use in daily communication.Padang and Lintau Buo, both of which are often called Minangkabau language, are different dialect rather than different dialect of one language because they are not mutually intelligible in their spoken form. Sijunjung is a city in Sijunjung regency. Sijunjung is located in Sijunjung regency about 99 km from Padang City. Sijunjung is a regency of West Sumatera. In society life, language is very important because language is used to communicate. Especially in address form. They always vary their forms in different situation and different addresses even though the person being addressed remains the same. The importance of address forms cannot be overestimated in the use of language in any human society. They serve as an indicator of the social relationship between a speaker and a listener in terms of status and social distance. Sijunjung forms of address literature still limited except for their uses in literary genres. Otherwise, an exploration of various forms of address in Sijunjung may help in understanding the culture of the people and also in knowing the reason why the people behave the way they do in an encounter with others in different situations. The address terms examined in this paper are limited to names only. Pronouns and other forms were not included. The population of this research that the writer takes from questionnaire to native speakers of Sijunjung society. For example, the writer takes 20 informants who can give information about the term of address form of Sijunjung. The writer used observation method and questionnaire technique, then the writer takes the answer sheets of Sijunjung people. There are two methods in representating the result of data analysis, formal and informal method. The informal method is written in the form of verbal statements, meanwhile the formal method is written by symbol and sign. While, informal method by using words based on the finding. In this analysis the writer uses both of method.

This research was conducted based on the problems found during the teaching and learning process in class IX IPS 1 of SMAN 1 Talamau, specifically about students' understanding of narrative text. The problem found is that students cannot determine the main ideas and topics in narrative text, understand the meaning of words, understand implied information, and understand the general structure and features of language in narrative texts.This research is included in quantitative descriptive research. The population in this study were students of class IX SMAN 1 Talamau, amounting to 159 people, divided into 4 classes. While this sample is class X8 of SMAN 8 Padang. The instrument used was an objective test. Data from students' objective tests are analyzed based on indicators and then interpreted and become research findings.Based on the results of the study showed that students of class IX IPS 1 SMAN 1 Talamau: 1. The ability to write students in determining the main ideas and topics in the narrative text showed at the intermediate level of 14 people out of 23 students (60,875%). 2. The ability to understand the meaning of words in the narrative text shows at the intermediate level that is 15 people out of 23 students (65.22%). 3. The ability to understand the information implicit in the narrative text shows that at the intermediate level, there are 14 out of 23 students (60.87%). 4. The ability to understand the general structure and language features of narrative texts shows that at the intermediate level, there are 16 students out of 23 students (69.57).From the results of the above research, it can be concluded that students still experience many difficulties in understanding a text, especially in narrative texts in accordance with applicable rules. Furthermore, based on the results of this study teachers are expected to be able to provide better teaching techniques and students can do more exercises to improve students' reading comprehension abilities.

In teaching reading comprehension, teaching strategy and motivation influence students’ reading comprehension. Strategy which was used in this experimental research was Questioning strategy. Questioning strategy can be used as a variation of teaching strategy in teaching reading comprehension. The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of questioning strategy and students’ motivation toward reading comprehension of narrative text. This research was an experimental research with factorial design 2x2. It was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Talamau Pasaman Barat. The population of this research was eleventh grade social science students with total population of 40 students. The sample was taken by using total sampling; so all of population was taken as sample. XI IPS 2 was experimental class and XI IPS 1 as control class. The instruments of this research were reading comprehension test and questionnaire. The data was analyzed by two ways ANOVA (ANOVA 2x2). The results of this research are (1) Reading comprehension of students who are taught by questioning strategy is better than reading comprehension of students who are taught by conventional strategy. Fo = 196.582 > Ft = 2.69, it means that Ha is accepted. (2) There is no interaction between strategy and students’ motivation toward reading comprehension. Fo = 0.012 < Ft = 2.69, it means that Ha is rejected. When no interaction is present it means that these two strategies did not influence each other so we do not need to continue for hypothesis 3 and hypothesis 4. In short; questioning strategy can be used as a teaching strategy in teaching reading comprehension at SMA Negeri 1 Talamau Pasaman Barat. Other researchers are suggested to do futher research about questioning strategy dealing with of the skills.

This study was designed to describe the ability of the second year students to comprehend reading text according to the levels of question at SMAN 1 Sijunjung. To be more specific it aimed at describing students’ ability to comprehend reading text according to the levels of knowledge question, comprehension question, application question and analysis question. This research was descriptive in nature. The population of this research was the second year students at SMAN 1 Sijunjung. The number of members of population was 165 students. The researcher took 80 students as the sample. In selecting sample, the researcher used stratified cluster random sampling technique. The data of this research were the students’ scores on comprehending text according to the levels of question. To take the data, the researcher used reading test. In analyzing the data, there were some steps she used: the first was presentation of raw scores and calculation of Mean and Standard Deviation. The second was classifying the students’ ability into high, moderate, and low ability. The third was determining the percentage of the students who had high, moderate, and low ability. The result of the data analysis showed that the ability of the second year students to comprehend reading text according to the levels of question at SMAN 1 Sijunjung was moderate. It was proved by the fact that 41 students (51.25%) had moderate ability. Specifically, the ability of the students to comprehend reading text at the level of knowledge question was moderate. It was proved by the fact that 53 students (66.25%) had moderate ability. Based on the findings above, it was suggested that the teachers give more exercises, beginning from the low levels of question to the high levels of question. It was also suggested to the teachers that they must promote a discussion to answer the questions on the texts being taught.

It was also suggested to the teachers that they must promote a discussion to answer the questions on the texts being taught.
