Abstract

Background: Blood pressure control can be achieved through lifestyle changes, pharmacological therapy, and non-pharmacological therapy. Complementary therapies can be included in hypertension management programs and are self-administered. This study aims to analyze the effect of self-administered acupressure at the Taichong point on blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Method: The research was conducted at Puskesmas II Denpasar Utara using a pre-experimental design with 38 primary hypertensive patients. Blood pressure data were measured five minutes before and after the patients performed self-administered acupressure at the Taichong point between the first and second metatarsals. Acupressure was performed with a stick for 5 seconds, lifted for 1 second, and repeated 30 times. Result: The results showed that all respondents had stage 2 hypertension, with systolic blood pressure (SBP) ranging from 140 to 172 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) between 90 and 102 mmHg. After the intervention, all respondents experienced a decrease in SBP and DBP, with an average reduction in SBP of 13.89 ± 5.46 mmHg and a reduction in DBP of 11.05 ± 6.32 mmHg. The analysis results showed a significant effect on blood pressure (p-value: 0.0001). Conclusion: This study concludes that self-administered acupressure at the Taichong point significantly reduces blood pressure in primary hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Diabetes Melitus is chronic disease caused by the pancreas not producing enough insulin. Lack of physical exercise for people with Diabetes Melitus can cause  various problems in the feet, namely neuropathy. Peripheral neuropathy is characterized by decreased sensitivity in the legs caused by disruption of peripheral circulation. The purpose of this study is to determine the difference of foot sensitivity in patient with  Diabetes Melitus between combination of diabetic foot gymnastics using newspapers and ROM compared with combination of diabetic foot gymnastics using tennis balls and ROM in the work area of Public Health Centre Karangasem II. This study used Quasi Experiment with Nonequivalent Control group Design with purposive sampling method from 20 respondents. The assessment instrument uses a foot protective sensation score measured using Monofilament. Foot gymnastics was done 3 times a week within 3 weeks. Data were analyzed by Paired t-test and Independent t-test with ɑ = 0,05. The results showed that the average foot sensitivity of type 2 diabetes melitus patients given a combination of foot gymnastics using tennis ball media and ROM before and after the intervention was 14,5 and 15,0 with p value = 0,015 ( ɑ=0,05), in the control group, gymnastics with tennis balls and ROM obtained an average of 15,1 and 17,4 with p value = 0,001 ( ɑ=0,05). The independent test shown p value of 0,023 ( ɑ=0,05).  It concluded that there were significant differences between the control group and the intervention group. It is expected that a combination of foot gymnastics using tennis ball and ROM will be held in health care institutions in handling patients with Diabetes Melitus.

Stunting is a condition of growth failure in children due to malnutrition and lack of quality, so that body length or height has a z-score value of less than -2SD. Stunted toddlers have a negative impact on health and functional bodies and increase child morbidity. The prevalence of stunting in Buleleng is still 20.5 percent and is above the WHO setting of 20 percent. Various efforts have been made, one of which is in the Banjar sub-district, a stunting consultation group has been formed and the implementation of programs for providing supplementary food, providing vitamins and cross-sectoral improvements to sanitation . Even so, in the Banjar 1 health center area, there are still 69 stunted toddlers. The purpose of this community service is to increase the knowledge of the cadres about bioacupressure massage for stunting toddlers. The training was conducted for 40 cadres representing 11 villages in the working area of the puskesmas. The results of the training before being given training showed sufficient knowledge, there were 5 people (7.5%) who had less knowledge, 32 people (80%) had sufficient knowledge, and 12.5% (3 people) had good knowledge. After the training was carried out there was an increase in knowledge with a significant difference with the t test analysis obtained. The conclusion of the results of this community service is that the level of knowledge of health cadres about Bioacupressure massage has increased and can become a companion and motivator so that mothers who have stunted toddlers do bioacupressure massage on their toddlers so that their appetite and height growth become more maximized
