Abstract

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in developed countries, after heart disease and cancer. Approximately 2.5 % died and the remainder mild or severe disability. Stroke caused many problem. One of the effect that occur in stroke patients was exsperiencing weakness on one side of the body. Therefore, stroke patients require a rehabilitation by exercises range of motion / ROM. Exercises to stimulate the movement of the hand which one form of the training is an practice in functional grasping hand. ROM spherical grip exsercises performed in actively and assistively. This study aims to find out the effectiveness of active-assistive ROM: spherical grip of an increase in upper extremity muscle strength in stroke patients in hospitals Stroke Bukittinggi. The design study is a quasy exsperiment for 7 day with treatment 2 times a day. Sample taken were 18 respondents by measuring muscle stregth before and after intervension. The results of statistical paired sample T- Test obtained average of p values 0.000. Therefore can be concluded that there is an incease in muscle stregth between before and after active-assistive ROM exercise: spherical grip. The results could be an input for nurses to make physical exercises range of motion moment as one of the independent nursing intervention in hospitals Stroke Nasional Bukittinggi and intervention in the treatment of stroke.

Abstract

According to the NINDS 2015, States that a stroke occurs when the blood supply to brain fails suddenly interrupted due to a blockage or rupture of blood vessels were. Basic Health Research results that show an increase in the prevalence of stroke symptoms in Indonesia increased from 8.3 at 1000 in 2007 to 12.1 and at 1000 in 2013. One of the problems that arise due to stroke is a disorder of swallowing or dysphagia. According to the World Stroke Academy Learning Moduls in 2012 the prevalence of dysphagia in stroke sufferers range from 36 to 67%. In the year 2016 in RSSN dysphagia in stroke patients 22,94%. For early detection of dysphagia screening test required to swallow as a first step in identifying the risks due to dysphagia and aspiration in stroke patients. The purpose of this research is to know the relationship of the implementation of the screening test to swallow with dysphagia in acute stroke patients in the room just entered inpatient Neurology RSSN Bukittinggi in 2017. This research method using analytic, descriptive, then the data was processed using the Chi Square test. The sample in this study as many as 54 people respondents. Test result statistics retrieved value p value = 0.002 (p < α) then it can be inferred the existence of a relationship between the implementation of the screening test to swallow with dysphagia in acute stroke patients the new entry. Analysis of the results obtained OR = 9.281 meaning respondents who perform screening test procedures in accordance with the swallow has a chance of 9.281 times in detecting the occurrence of dysphagia. Suggestions in this study is the implementation of a screening test this swallow can be included in SPO for nurses in Bukittinggi in the room especially RSSN Neurology in detecting the onset of dysphagia in acute stroke patients.

Abstract

Background: Stroke is a disease or functional disorder of the brain in the form of nerve paralysis due to inhibition of blood vassel flow to the brain. Based on Medikal Record data of Kumpulan Public Health Center 2016, there were 67 cases. Whereas in 2017 there were 81 cases of stroke 25 witch of them outpatients who experience weakness in the limb and have never received mirror therapy. Objective: This study was to investigate "the effect of mirror therapy on the ability of motion in stroke patients in Kumpulan Public Health Center on 2018. Method: This study used the quasi-experimental method of One Group Pretest-postest. Interventions: Mirror therapy performed 5-10 minutes, once a day, 5 times a week for 4 weeks. The sample in this study were 11 respondents. Results: This research has been conducted from February 5 to March 3, 2018. The results of statistical tests obtained p value 0,000 wich it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between the mirror therapy on the ability of motion in stroke patients in Kumpulan Public Health 2018 year. Conclusion and Suggestions: It is recommended that mirror therapy should be used as one of the nonpharmacologic therapies in patients with weak extremities either through the provision of education in educational institutions and in health services by health care provider.
