Abstract

This article is an investigation into the effectiveness of hybrid learning module on basic structure in students university in Ikip Budi Utomo . This concepts related to hybrid learning and conventional classroom. There were 90 students who participated in this research . The study revealed that students prefer hybrid learning on basic structure to conventional classroom, paper and pencil . As the first, they seemed like to take English lessons in conventional form, paper and pencil, rather than in hybrid leaning form, because they used to study in conventional method. When they submitted English assignments online or personally, their opinions were changed. They finally trusted to hybid learning method. This method of the research use quantitative method.The research found that significantly different capability in basic structure comprehension. The obtained t-test value for hybrid learning module on basic structure was 7.85 while the critical value of p< .05 level of significance of one-tailed test was 1.671 (d.f.= 60 ). From the t-test computation, it can be concluded that the students taught by hybrid learning module had better capability than those the students taught in conventional, paper and pencil . In conclution, learning basic structure based on hybrid learning module is better than conventional method , paper and pencil. Additionally, some recommendations for future work in this field were made.

Abstract

This training aims to provide understanding and skills to applying project-based learning (PjBL) innovations to improve 21st Century competencies through cinematography in an effective and entertaining way. The training was attended by 28 teachers in the multimedia room of SMAN 1 Garum. The training and mentoring method has three stages, such as presentation using power point media, video tutorials, and product examples; practice and assistance in making products; and uploading products. The results of this training and mentoring were that all participants were able to complete and upload the training products with enthusiasm, effectiveness, and fun. It is recommended that the training and mentoring methods applied by the presenters can be obtained by the participants in applying PjBL to students.

Abstract

The use of narrative text is used to increase understanding of English for elementary students who participate in this joint learning activity. The use of learning materials in schools is also used to help students better understand the lessons in their schools. The results of observations made by the author before starting research show that students lack motivation in learning English because they rarely use it actively in everyday life. Therefore, activities are filled with involving motoric activities that can attract their attention. The results of the activities were very positive, including students becoming more active language learners, having good learning motivation, and being confident in using simple English expressions to their peers.

Abstract

Speaking skill is one of the most important skill to be taught for English department students. Most activities in speaking class are oral presentations. However, there are many students admitted that they have obstacles in speaking performance. The main aim of this study was to find out the factors influencing students’ speaking performance in speaking class. Furthermore, it was also used to know the difficulties faced by the students of English department at IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. This study applied the descriptive qualitative method which describes the findings and the result of the study qualitatively. The data were collected by using observation, questionnaire, and documentation. This analysis found that both linguistics and non-linguistics aspects influenced students’ speaking performance. The linguistics aspect includes vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar while the non-linguistic aspect covers confidence, anxiety, and topical knowledge.

Abstract

This research uses a qualitative descriptive research design with the aim of identifying what problems students face when completing Reading Section questions on the TOEFL. This research involved 30 Economics Education students who took TOEFL courses. Researchers used TOEFL questions taken from Longman's book to collect research data. Researchers conduct direct analysis of students' correct and incorrect answers on tests. After that, researchers conducted interviews with students who had wrong or correct answers to several questions to find out the cause of their difficulties. The research results found. The results of the analysis show that students have difficulty solving TOEFL questions in the reading section. Among other things, the problems faced by students are as follows: (1) students do not have sufficient English vocabulary, (2) students feel sleepy when reading long discourses, (3) students have difficulty finding the main idea in the text they read, and (4) students have difficulty finding the information conveyed in the texts they read.
