Abstract

Artikel ini menjelaskan strategi media relations yang digunakan oleh perusahaan pertambangan timah di provinsi Bangka Belitung dalam menyusun agenda setting media. Satu sisi, perusahaan pertambangan timah memiliki agenda agar dapat melakukan penambangan sesuai peraturan. Pada sisi lainnya, pemerintah daerah sebagai pihak yang berada di luar institusi media massa dan perusahaan pertambangan juga memiliki agenda tersendiri. Sehingga persoalan pertambangan timah di Bangka Belitung memiliki potensi konflik kepentingan, bukan saja antar perusahaan dengan pemerintah, tetapi juga dengan warga masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui bagaimana strategi media relations perusahaan pertambangan timah dalam menyusun agenda setting media massa di Bangka Belitung. Ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi partisipatoris. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui pengamatan dan partisipasi semi tertutup serta wawancara dengan sejumlah informan yang memiliki kompetensi dan relevansi dengan masalah penelitian. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa media massa sebagai institusi ekonomi digerakkan melalui prinsip transaksional. Pada sisi lain, perusahaan penambang timah dan pemerintah daerah memiliki agenda setting bersama. Relasi berbagai sisi tersebut merupakan faktor internal yang terjadi dalam suatu iklim media baru yang sangat dinamis. Sedangkan aktivitas yang sangat dinamis pada era media baru tersebut merupakan faktor eksternal. Relasi antara faktor internal dan eksternal tersebut digambarkan sebagai hal yang dapat menyusun agenda setting media. Agenda setting merupakan teori yang menjelaskan media membentuk agenda khalayak. Sehingga khalayak cenderung menilai suatu hal menjadi penting karena media menilai suatu hal tersebut penting.

Abstract

In several television programs, women are constructed as representation of reality, not as reflection of reality. Those representations trend to exploit woman sexually. This article describes how women has been constructed in television using political economic media approach. Political economic media studies reveal several economic and political interests behind television programs which involved women.

Abstract

This article discuss on body as reality subject. Awareness of body as subject is awareness of existed, placed and different. But as object, body is battle field for many ideologic interests. Those ideologic interests are competing to determine the body. Therefore body emerge as false body, an exhibit for many ideologic interests. Those ideologic interests could enter through sign consumption practice on body. The needs of body for many consumptions is stimulated by many pleasures provided by media. Sign consumption for body and body mediated by media are actually bodies that are imprisoned.Those bodies are watched, arranged, and being disciplined so they can reach the desirable body image condition. Body image that is mediated by media through many sign consumptions can be seen as a symptom of the death of human as subject. This symptom is part of dehumanisation as the result of global media industry. Through media persuasion, the process of the death of the body felt so smooth, relax, entertaining, flattering, and happy. Anyone who caught into the trap will not realise it and will become addicted and in the end he/she will experience decentering of the subject.[Artikel ini mendiskusikan studi tentang tubuh sebagai subjek realitas (khalifah). Kesadaran tubuh menjadi subjek ini adalah kesadaran menjadi ada, berada dan berbeda. Namun sebagai objek, tubuh merupakan ruang pertarungan bagi berbagai kepentingan ideologis. Berbagai kepentingan tersebut saling berlomba mendeterminasi tubuh. Sehingga tubuh yang hadir adalah tubuh palsu sebagai ruang pamer berbagai kepentingan ideologis. Kepentingan ideologis tersebut masuk melalui praktek konsumsi tanda pada tubuh. Kebutuhan tubuh terhadap berbagai konsumsi tersebut dirangsang melalui berbagai kenikmatan yang dijajakan oleh media. Konsumsi tanda bagi tubuh dan tubuh yang termediasi oleh media sesungguhnya adalah tubuh-tubuh yang dipenjara. Tubuh-tubuh tersebut diawasi, diatur dan didisiplinkan agar sampai pada satu kondisi body image yang diinginkan. Body image yang termediasi melalui media lewat berbagai konsumsi tanda dapat dilihat sebagai suatu gejala kematian manusia sebagai subjek. Gejala kematian ini bagian dari dehumanisasi sebagai dampak dari industri media global. Melalui rayuan media, proses kematian tubuh tersebut begitu cair, rileks, menghibur, menyanjung dan menyenangkan. Hingga tanpa terasa bagi siapa saja yang masuk dalam perangkap hasrat tubuh tersebut akan ketagihan hingga akhirnya mengalam decentering of the subject.]

Abstract

Penelitian ini menelisik tentang konflik Sedekah Laut melalui media online di Pantai Baru, Dusun Ngentak, Desa Poncosari, Bantul-Yogyakarta. Berangkat dari fenomena sosial. Artikel ini membahas mengenai bagaimana media online melaporkan peristiwa konflik Sedekah Laut di Pantai Baru, bagaimana media online memposisisikan pemberitaanya terhadap kepentingan publik dan institusi medianya dan bagaimana media online membentuk fakta dan opini publik di masyarakat. Studi ini menggunakan metode kualitaif dengan pendekatan analisis isi kualitatif (qualitatif massage analisis). Hasil studi ini menunjukan bahwa konflik Sedekah Laut di Pantai Baru disebabkan oleh perbedaan interpretasi hukum Islam dalam memahami Sedekah Laut. Kelompok konservatif menilai, tidakan tradisi Sekekah laut ialah menyimpang dari Islam, dengan kata lain haram, syirik (yang dapat menyebabkan seorang bisa keluar dari Islam). Sementara kelompok Islam moderat dan respon masyarakat setempat, sedah laut tidak menyimpang dari nilai ajaran Islam. Justru dengan kehadiran tradisi tersebut, membuat masyarakat semakin religious, memperkuat keimananya dan menguatkan hubungan persaudaraan.

Abstract

There are three sides of the media business today, such as media content providers, audiences as consumers of content, and advertisers as ‘consumers’ other media users. All three are complementary and influence each other, although in many ways, most audiences are often sacrificed in terms of interest. When an issue arises, the media are often considered a factor called ‘news value’ that will attract audiences to consume and then attract advertisers to enter. At other times, the ideology of media also often affect how the news was created, directed, and then deployed. In the case of reported of corruption cases involving officials of political parties in Indonesia of 2014 election, which is affecting Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq (PKS), Ratu Atut Choisyah (Golkar), and Anas Urbaningrum (Demokrat), two major media in Indonesia, Kompas and Republika presented the news in a different way. It is strongly associated with the ideology of each medium. Media ideology are then distinguish the discourse developed Kompas and Republika in reporting cases of the party officials. Results of analysis using Foucault discourse analysis showed that both the national media show a particular discourse in accordance with ideology, and on the other hand also do marginalization of certain discourses are supposed to be there. For example, the discourse of corruption as an extraordinary crime, it is not displayed, enclosed by political discourse and religious identity of each alleged case of corruption.Keywords: Discourse, Religion Identity, Politics, Media Ideology

Abstract

Customary practice in Minangkabau is based on sharia, and sharia is based on the Qur’an (as provisioned in the proverb Adat Bersandi Syarak, Syarak Bersandi Kitabullah-ABS/SBK). As a customary practice, is merantau in the Minangkabau tradition based on sharia? This article explains the relationship between custom and sharia in Minangkabau’s merantautradition. This study is a qualitative research with in-depth interview data collection techniques and literature study. In-depth interviews were conducted with four distinct individuals representing customary figures and religious figures of West Sumatra. The study found that merantau in the Minangkabau tradition emerged out of the matrilineal customary system that has been in place long before Islam was introduced to the Minangkabau community. As a custom, several aspects of merantau in the Minang culture contradict Islamic sharia. This indicates that the relationship between custom and sharia is not hierarchical as stipulated in the ABS/SBK model. The study results may have implications on new relations between customary law, sharia, culture, and religion.

Abstract

This article discusses Indonesian cyber society active­ties and its configuration on social media which considered being able to encourage social movements, for instance Defen­ding Islam Action, subsequently well known as ‘Defending Islam Action 212’. This article argues that netizens' activities on social media turned out to involve various class variants and social status and are able to encourage the ' Defending Islam Action’. Moreover, the social formation and activities of netizens on the social media constitute the prospects for the social construction of the cosmopolitan Muslim community in Indonesia. The portrait of Indonesian cosmopolitan Muslim is seen as a cong­re­gation of citizens compelled by their religious awareness, regardless of social, political, economic boundaries and even inter-religiosity which reveres universal principles of humanity.
