Abstract

The increase in online gaming among adolescents has an impact on social aspects, including direct social interaction, empathy, and social control. However, empirical studies on the extent of the influence of online gaming addiction on adolescent social behavior in the local context are still limited. This study aims to determine the effect of online game addiction on the social behavior of adolescents in Ciracas Village, East Jakarta. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method and simple linear regression analysis technique. The sample in this study consisted of 100 adolescents selected using purposive sampling. The instrument used was a questionnaire with indicators referring to aspects of online game addiction according to Groves and the concept of social action according to Max Weber. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant influence between online game addiction and adolescent social behavior with a coefficient of determination of 92.4%. This indicates that a higher level of online game addiction is associated with lower levels of social behavior quality. These results support the notion that excessive online gaming may hinder the development of adolescents’ social identity and lead to dependency on the virtual world. The study is expected to provide useful insights for parents, educators, and policymakers in designing monitoring strategies and digital education that encourage adolescents to use technology wisely and maintain balance in their daily lives Keywords: Online Game Addiction, Social Behavior, Adolescents, Social Interaction, Social Action

Abstract

Online game addiction is often assumed to be the cause of decreased social interaction because it is considered to reduce the intensity of real-world social relationships. However, several studies show inconsistent results, making it necessary to re-examine this assumption. This study aims to analyze the influence of online game addiction on students' social interactions and to explain this phenomenon through the perspective of Network Society. The study uses an associative quantitative approach involving 79 Social Science Education students at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta who are active online game players and were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data was collected through a Likert scale-based questionnaire and analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, linearity tests, simple linear regression, t-tests, and coefficient of determination. The research results show that online game addiction does not have a significant effect on students' social interaction (t = 1.060; p = 0.293 > 0.05). The determination coefficient value (R² = 0.014) indicates that online game addiction only explains 1.4% of the variation in social interaction. These findings suggest that the assumption of social dysfunction due to online game addiction is not entirely relevant in the context of a digital society. From the perspective of the Network Society, social interaction does not experience decline but rather a transformation of the arena from physical space to digital network-based space.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis transformasi identitas Makam Cut Nyak Dien di Kabupaten Sumedang sebagai warisan budaya dalam perspektif sosiologi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam dengan juru kunci dan masyarakat sekitar sebagai informan, serta dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Makam Cut Nyak Dien telah mengalami perubahan identitas dari sekadar tempat pemakaman menjadi warisan budaya yang memiliki nilai historis, sosial, budaya, dan edukatif. Perubahan tersebut tercermin melalui pelestarian nilai dan norma, penghormatan terhadap perjuangan Cut Nyak Dien sebagai pahlawan nasional, pewarisan memori kolektif, serta keterlibatan pemerintah, masyarakat, dan pengunjung dalam menjaga keberlanjutan situs. Penetapan makam sebagai cagar budaya peringkat nasional semakin memperkuat kedudukannya sebagai warisan budaya yang memiliki makna penting bagi masyarakat. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa transformasi identitas Makam Cut Nyak Dien diwujudkan melalui pelestarian nilai sejarah, penguatan fungsi edukatif, serta komitmen menjaga autentisitas situs sehingga keberadaannya tetap relevan sebagai warisan budaya yang dapat diwariskan kepada generasi mendatang.
