Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know why the students of Bina Nusantara University have inclusive religious character. This study used qualitative method by phenomenon approach. Various data sources such as data from focus group discussions (FGD), participant observation, and documents. This descriptive analysis technique is used to describe how learning can behave inclusively in religious education and its development patterns. Meanwhile, descriptive analysis techniques are used to describe field findings, make observations, interpret, and carry out the final analysis. The conclusions are (1) inclusive religious behavior in Binus has been implemented well by Binus students by building harmonious relations between students in the life of the academic community in Binus. They can get along well and can build together, both inside and outside the classroom. Harmony also occurs in relations with the wider community, which is manifested in the social activities of students, who are involved in UMKM activities and student associations at Binus. (2) the inclusion of inclusive student religious behavior by Binus has been well structured and planned through a learning process, an assessment system, and technical activities that are conducive to the plural reality of Indonesian society by building self-management and teamwork skills. There are some implications for the life of Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta. First, the relations between students of different religions in the classroom are getting tighter. Second, creating a family atmosphere between students in the organization. Third, the lecture atmosphere in the classroom is very conducive. Fourth, Binus' closeness to the surrounding community. Fifth, the brotherhood of the Binus academic community is getting tighter. Sixth, Binus' achievement enhancement.

Abstract

Brayut is one of Balinese folktale that tells about a farmer’s family life with many children. The setting relates to the celebration of Galungan day. By the time being, this story always exists and develops until today. This folktale has been undergoing certain process of construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction of ideology. This paper concerns the ideology implied by the character of Brayut since the traditional until this postmodern era. The research data was collected through the observation, interview, and document study techniques. The analysis was based on the theory of ideology by Thomson supported by the theories of religion. The descriptive-interpretative method was applied to analyze the data. Based on the analysis the results show that this folklore of Brayut has been always reinterpreted since the traditional/agriculture era until this postmodern era. Therefore, the existence of this story may be everlasting until today.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the dynamicity of Tri Hita Karana implementation in South Denpasar regarding the causing factors, the dynamic forms, as well the implication on the Hindus community life. This research was conducted using qualitative methods. The data were collected through document study, observation, and in-depth interviews with 25 informants. The collected data were analyzed by the theories of hegemony, social change, socio-cultural system critical, and adaptation. The results showed: First, the factors causing the dynamicity of Tri Hita Karana in the residential area of Hindus are urban modernization, population growth, spatial planning policies and settlement development, and rationalization in building construction. Second, the dynamics of Tri Hita Karana in these residentials are: (a) In the palemahan area, land conversion has displaced the subak and Ulun Suwi temple, violation of the principles of Balinese Traditional Architecture (ATB), displacing the existence of the open space; b) The pawongan area is characterized by increasingly heterogeneous, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural citizens.; (c) In the parahyangan area where the building layout was not reconstructed, the holy place Merajan was built on the upper floor of the residence. Third, the implications of the dynamics of Tri Hita Karana in the residential area of Hindus in the South Denpasar, include: (a) The palemahan area implies the use of land space based on the principles of effective, efficient, and economical, but the concept of ulu teben and kaja-kangin as the Balinese sacred orientations is still maintained; (b) The pawongan area is characterized by the behavior of city dwellers looking for Social space and spiritual recreation; (c) The Parahyangan area is characterized by praying activities at Merajan and Padmasana on the upper floor of the residence. To enforce the Tri Hita Karana, the misuse (disorientation) of spatial planning needs to be anticipated.

Abstract

Artikel ini berupaya mencermati pandangan dunia Bali yang berpengaruh pada pembentukan karakteristik kebudayaan Bali, serta pergeseran-pergeseran yang terjadi di dalamnya. Berdasarkan pengamatan selama ini, dan pembacaan atas berbagai sumber tentang Bali, penulis melihat pandangan dunia Bali tidaklah jauh berbeda dengan pandangan dunia Jawa. Setidaknya ada tiga pandangan dunia yang bisa dicermati yakni pertama sintesis (kesatuan), kedua dualistik dan ketiga hierarkis. Tiga pandangan dunia ini membentuk yang namanya struktur-struktur dalam kebudayaan Bali. Pandangan dunia yang sintesis menyajikan kelenturan kultural dan keterbukaan tak terbatas terhadap segala sesuatu yang akan diserap ke dalam sistem nilai dan budaya setempat, pandangan dunia yang dualistik menyajikan dinamika serta penerimaan yang sadar akan perbedaan, bahkan konflik selama dapat dijaga keseimbangannya, dan pandangan dunia yang hierarkis menyajikan suatu sistem yang canggih di mana segala sesuatu diberikan tempat sesuai fungsinya.

Abstract

Agama sebenarnya memiliki wajah Janus (ganda), di satu sisi agama bisa berwajah keras dan seringkali menimbulkan banyak korban jiwa. Hal ini terjadi ketika agama digunakan sebagai alat pembenar terhadap tindakan kekerasan oleh kelompok tertentu untuk meniadakan kelompok lain yang berbeda. Di sisi lain agama memiliki wajah melankolis sebagai sesuatu yang sejuk mendamaikan. Dalam hal ini agama sering digunakan sebagai penyembuh terhadap “kegilaan” yang terjadi dalam masyarakat. Di Bali agama menjadi penyembuh terhadap mereka yang mengalami keguncangan jiwa misalnya melalui “malukat” atau “mebayuh”. Agama memberi jalan bagi penebusan dosa seperti dalam upacara “guru piduka”. Agama juga menetralisir mereka yang mengalami trance (kerauhan) pada saat ritual di Pura di Bali. Peristiwa tersebut tadi dalam pandangan psikologi dianggap sedang mengalami “kegilaan”. Tulisan ini menjelaskan peran agama sebagai penyembuh dalam masyarakat Hindu di Bali. Pengumpulan data diakukan dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumen. Analisis dan paparan data dilakukan dengan deskriptif interpretatif, melalui pendekatan sosiologi agama.

Abstract

Tantrayana adalah salah satu mazab Hindu yang telah berkembang di India sekitar tahun 600 M, selanjutnya menyebar sampai ke Indonesia. Masyarakat awam sering memberikan stigma ajaran ini adalah ajaran sesat karena melegalkan penggunaan daging, alkohol serta hubungan seksual dalam ritualnya, serta memposisikan perempuan sebagai subordinat laki-laki. Kajian terhadap kitab-kitab Tantra menunjukkan bahwa Tantrayana sangat menghormati perempuan dan anak-anak. Praktik ritual yang masih berlanjut hingga saat ini di Bali memperkuat argument tersebut. Dewa dan Sakti-Nya, laki-perempuan, purusa-pradhana dilihat sebagai dualitas bukanlah oposisi biner yang bersifat hirarkhis. Konsep ini rupanya sejalan dengan konsep pengarus-utamaan gender dewasa ini.

Abstract

Artikel ini ingin mengkaji tentang filsafat pendidikan menurut salah satu pemikir Hindu yakni S. Radhakrisnan. Artikel ini ingin menelusuri filsafat Pendidikan Radhakrisnan melalui kajian pemikiran. Beberapa buku Radhakrisnan yang dijadikan rujukan yakni Indian Philosophy, The Philosophy of Radhakrisnan, Eastern Religions and Western Thought. Pandangan Radhakrisnan mengenai pendidikan terletak pada tujuannya dalam mempertemukan pendidikan spiritual dansosial untuk merekonstruksi sebuah masyarakat ideal di mana orang-orangnya bebas dari kebodohan dan tabiat buruk. Pendidikan spiritual tidak meniadakan aspirasi sosial, namun ia menandakan cita-cita duniawi. Tujuan tertinggi dari pendidikan spiritual adalah moksa, namun ini mesti dicapai di dunia ini, bukan di akhirat kelak.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas tentang Tantrisme di dalam aguron-guron kawikon budha paksa di Gria Budakeling. Tantrisme dalam aguron-guron kawikon budha paksa merupakan inti dari ajaran kependetaan dari mazhab budha wajrayana, yang telah berlangsung sejak jaman dahulu serta diwarisi dan dipertahankan secara turun temurun oleh keturunan dari keluarga Gria Budakeling yang merupan keturunan dari Dang Hyang Astapaka seorang Pendeta Budha Kasogatan. Sebagai sebuah system perguruan kependetaan budha paksa, kitab Sang Hyang Kamahayanikan merupakan pegangan utama ditambah kitab-kitab dari siwa paksa seperti kitab silakramaning aguron-guron, silakrama, vrati sesana, siwa sesana dan lain-lain. Kitab Sang Hyang Kamahayanikan merupakan kitab kuno yang bersifat Tantris. Memuat ajaran filsafat jalan pembebasan, materi kependetaan serta tata aturan hubungan Guru/Nabe dan murid kerohaniannya.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis penyakit pikiran dilayani, proses penanganan penyakit pikiran, dan tanggapan pasien penyakit pikiran yang dilayani pada Klinik Puri Usadha di Kota Denpasar. Penelitian ini menerapkan teori fenomenologi dan teori health seeking behavior melalui pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah alasan Klinik Puri Usadha di Kota Denpasar melayani pasien penyakit pikiran karena alasan agama, sosial, dan alasan budaya. Proses penanganan pasien penyakit pikiran pada Klinik Puri Usadha di Kota Denpasar terdiri dari (1) terapi meditasi raja yoga, (2) prana, (3) akupresure dan (4) hipnoterapi. Tanggapan pasien penyakit pikiran yang dilayani pada Klinik Puri Usadha di Kota Denpasar ialah rata-rata semua pasien memberikan tanggapan yang positif dan pasien merasakan perubahan kearah positif setelah diterapi di Klinik Puri Usadha di Kota Denpasar.
