Abstract

Puberty is a period of transition from childhood to adolescence. One of the signs experienced by adolescent girls is the presence of menarche. Seeing the current condition of society, many parents, especially mothers, are less than optimal in providing education for their daughters when experiencing the menarche process. In this service activity, an android application will be created that functions to help menarch education. The activity began with the application design process and socialization to young women in the village of Kemuning Lor, Jember Regency. The results of this community service activity are as many as 80% of participants feel helped by the android application. In the future, the android application that is built can be developed by increasing educational content related to menarche.

Abstract

One of the characteristics of a developed nation is a nation that has a high level of health, intelligence and work productivity. These three things are strongly influenced by the state of nutrition. Nutritional problems in Indonesia are currently included in the triple burden of nutrition status. The prevalence of stunting under five in Indonesia is included in the chronic category, which is 30.8%. The direct cause of nutritional problems in toddlers is due to an unbalanced diet. Balanced nutrition is a food composition from a variety of food ingredients that contain nutrients needed by the body, both in quality and quantity. One of the efforts to prevent nutritional problems in toddlers is to empower parents of toddlers through increasing the knowledge of mothers of toddlers. The role of the mother is very important for toddlers to fulfill balanced nutrition because the level of knowledge about nutrition will affect the food selection process and family eating behavior. Therefore, this community service program is to carry out balanced nutrition counseling activities that aim to increase the knowledge of mothers of toddlers about balanced nutrition to prevent nutritional problems in toddlers. The target of this activity is mothers of children under five at Posyandu Catleya 19. The implementation of this activity was attended by mothers of children under five at Posyandu Catleya 19, posyandu cadres, and coordinating midwives. Counseling on balanced nutrition begins with pretest activities, then continues with material presentation, discussion and question and answer, and then closes with posttest. In this activity, mothers of children under five are given a balanced nutrition module which contains material on balanced nutrition and recipes that can be applied in daily feeding of children under five. The results of the activity evaluation showed that 76.3% of mothers under five experienced an increase in knowledge after counseling.

Abstract

Rice that is generally consumed by Indonesian people is that does not have important nutrient such as β-carotene. Therefore, the way to supply β-carotene requirement in staple foods can be done through β-carotene biofortification by genetic engineering of the rice plant. PAC Nagdong/ IR36 is transgenic Golden Rice which can produce β-carotene. The research aimed to determine some nutritional content of PAC Nagdong/ IR36 rice lines that include carbohydrate, amylose, amylopectin, protein, lipid, and β-carotene content. Amylose was measured using the iodine colorimetric method, whereas the contents of amylopectin and carbohydrates were measured using the by difference method. Protein was measured using the Bradford method, lipid was measured using Proctor and Bowen method, while β-carotene content was measured using the colorimetric method. PAC Nagdong/ IR36 rice lines had carbohydrate content between 85,06-90,16%, amylose 12,94%- 20,81%, amylopectin 69,35- 76,17%, protein 7,76-8,52 µg/µl, lipid 0,65-0,90%, and β-carotene 231,61-920,52 µg/g. Carbohydrate, protein, and β-carotene in PAC Nagdong/ IR36 were higher than TN1 rice variety (control). This indicated that PAC Nagdong/ IR36 provided better nutrition. Amylose content of Nagdong/ IR36 PAC rice was low, which donated its potential to produce fluffier rice whereas high β-carotene content could be used as a source of β-carotene that is useful in overcoming vitamin A deficiency and beneficial for health including in preventing degenerative diseases.

Abstract

Black rice contains high bioactive compounds that have antioxidant activity so that it has the potential as a source of functional food that can help to overcome various health problems. Black rice extract has high potential to be developed into an antioxidant beverage. Research on the content of bioactive compounds, antioxidant activity, and nutrients in black rice extract beverages has not been widely studied in Indonesia. The objective of this study was to determine the content of bioactive compounds, activity, and nutrients of black rice extract. Four types of commercial black rice grains were extracted using methanol as comparison (without treatment) and using water with a temperature of 90°C for 15 and 25 minutes, with the ratio of water: rice powder (20, 25 and 30 ml/ g). The black rice extracts were tested for total phenolic compound, antioxidant activity, protein, and iron content. The highest total phenolic content, flavonoids, and antioxidant activity of black rice extract beverages were 4.54 mg GAE/g (water ratio: rice powder 20 ml/g, 15 minutes), 14.51 mg QE/g (water ratio: rice powder 20 ml/g, 15 minutes), and 73.44% (water ratio: rice powder 30 ml/g, 15 minutes). The total protein and iron content of extract black rice beverage was 0.3115- 0.3620% and 0.0100- 0.0123%, respectively. The presence of high content of bioactive compounds, protein, iron, and antioxidant activity in black rice extract with a processing time of 15 and 25 minutes at 90°C, and the ratio of water: rice powder (20, 25, 30 ml/g) indicates that the processing conditions can provide a reference in producing black rice extract beverages which are rich in bioactive compounds, antioxidants, and nutrients. The presence of iron in brown rice extract may help overcome iron deficiency.

Abstract

As the enacment of National Healt Coverage (JKN), certaintly the number of patients who seek treatment in hospitals has increase due to the patient no longer think about the cost of an expensive problem. The occurrence of the coopertion between the BPJS Paru Hospital Surabaya, certainly made a number of cisits increases it can be seen in the increase in the number of cisits the patient in Paru Hospitals Surabaya years 2014 to 2016. Calculatio of the new workforce needs in the unit procedures is indispensable in order to improve the quality of service. If the increasing number of visits certainly have an effect on basic tasks performed by officers of the procedures. Therefore required the calculation of labbor needs on the Unit Procedures Paru Hospital Surabaya. Type of this research is descriptive, by describing the calculation of labor needs medical record on the Unit Procedures tah the Paru Hospital Surabaya. Data collection methods used in this study. Interview Procedures and observations officer to find out the acerage time taken at each activity. From the results of research on workforce needs calculation Unit Procedures Paru Hospital Surabaya found to shift the morning amoun ted to 3 officers. Ther result is greater compared to the number of staff available at this time. If the number of officers alreay according to needs will facilitate the pro cess of service to patients and improven the quality of work.

Abstract

Red rice is an important commodity with antioxidant activity. The antioxidant content in red rice can help to overcome various health problems. Red rice extract has the potential to be a functional drink that is rich in nutrients and antioxidants. In Indonesia, studies regarding the nutritional content and antimicrobial activity of red rice extract are still few and poorly explored. This study aims to determine nutritional content and potency of antimicrobial red rice extract. Four types of commercial red rice were extracted using a treatment of 90°C of temperature, 15 minutes, with the ratio of water: rice 1: 20 ml/g. The conventional extraction method using methanol was used as a comparison. The extract was measured for protein content, iron, and antimicrobial activity. Red rice extract's total protein and iron content were 0.3305-0.5660% and 0.0090-0.0141%, respectively. Red rice extract concentrated up to 100 µl can inhibit Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli growth with the largest inhibition zone of 3 mm and an antimicrobial index of 0.5. The protein content of red rice extracted with our method showed a higher value when compared to conventional extraction using methanol. The presence of protein, iron, and antimicrobial activity in red rice extract can be potential as a functional drink that is good for health because the presence of iron in red rice extract has the potential to overcome iron deficiency. Moreover, the antimicrobial activity in red rice can be beneficial to inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause foodborne diseases such as S. aureus and E. coli.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan rempah-rempah yang ada di Indonesia dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan sistem imun sebagai pencegahan Covid-19. Pemberdayaan dengan pemanfaatan rempah-rempah yang ada di masyarakat dapat dilakukan dengan mengolah rempah-rempah menjadi instan yang dapat di konsumsi oleh masyarakat serta daya simpan bisa menjadi lebih lama, praktis, tanpa endapan, dan dapat bernilai ekonomis tinggi dengan menggunakan  teknik practical process. Dengan adanya inovasi ini masyarakat dapat mengkonsumsi sendiri tanpa harus membeli dan rempah instan tersebut dapat di jual ke took-toko dan melalui marketplace sehingga dapat menambah pendapatan masyarakat di Desa Kemuning Lor. Teknik practical process diharapkan produksi rempah-rempah instan di Desa Kemuning Lor menjadi ramah lingkungan dan menghasilkan nilai ekonomis tinggi. Kegiatan pengapdian kepada masyarakat yang telah di lakukan di Desa Kemuning Lor yaitu dengan pemberian edukasi gizi  seimbang selama Covid-19 salah satunya pemanfaatan rempah-rempah agar sistem imun dapat meningkat, praktik membuat rempah-rempah instan yang tertuang dalam modul, dan  memanfaatkan kemasan plastik bekas untuk dijadikan sebagai tempat media tanam.  Proses pembuatan rempah-rempah instan membutuhkan alat yang sederhana dan alat yang digunakan dalam proses produksi diserahkan kepada mitra. Hasil dari kegiatan tersebut adalah peserta antusias dalam penerimaan materi dan mereka bisa mempraktikkan cara pembutan rempah-rempah instan dengan teknik practical process.

Abstract

Based on the preliminary study that has been carried out, namely with several village officials. Currently, the village of Kemuning Lor still lacks socialization related to menarche education, so that many teenagers in Kemuning Lor Village, Arjasa District, Jember Regency still do not understand menarche. This of course has an impact on the reproductive health and psychology of adolescent girls because of the lack of knowledge about menarche. This community service activity will optimize the understanding of menarche among PKK cadres and young women in Kemning lor Village, with socialization activities and application learning. The result of this community service activity is an increase in knowledge about menarche for both PKK Cadres and Young Women. From the level of understanding that was previously 30% which was included in the category of high knowledge to 85% after socialization.

Abstract

Menarche is the first menstruation that occurs in young women. Knowledge about menarche will be an important provision for young women in facing menarche and the next menstrual period. Dissemination of valid information regarding menarche can be facilitated using information technology in the 4.0 revolution era, one of which is the Simen application. Simen applications, like other applications/software, need to be evaluated. Evaluation will show the advantages and disadvantages of an application, which will become the basis for further development of an application. The evaluation method used is usability analysis with 5 variables (learnability, memorability, efficiency, error and satisfaction). The instrument used was a questionnaire addressed to 20 Simen application users. The results of the questionnaire showed that the variable memorability (average score of the questionnaire was 4.15), the variable efficiency (the average value of the questionnaire was 4.07), and the error variable (the average value of the questionnaire was 4.10) was good. Meanwhile, the learnability variable (the average value of the questionnaire is 3.24) and the satisfaction variable (the average value of the questionnaire is 3.56) is sufficient. Based on these results, the Simen application still requires further improvements regarding the user interface and content.in the abstract.

Abstract

Kontrasepsi pria merupakan metode kontrasepsi untuk mencegah kehamilan seperti kondom, vasektomi. Jumlah Peserta KB pria aktif di Kabupaten Jember yaitu vasektomi 0,19%, kondom 0,89%. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh akses pelayanan, kualitas pelayanan terhadap partisipasi pria dalam keluarga berencana. Metode yang digunakan yaitu penelitian observasional dengan desain cross sectional. Penelitian dilakukan di Kabupaten Jember dengan responden 380, pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik multistage random sampling. Pengumpulan data dengan mengisi instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner. Pengolahan data melalui proses editing, coding, cleaning, scoring, tabulasi. Uji yang digunakan yaitu regresi logistik dengan kemaknaan 95% (α = 0,05) untuk melihat pengaruh akses pelayanan, kualitas pelayanan terhadap partisipasi pria dalam program KB. Hasil penelitian akses pelayanan dengan signifikansi 0,000 (p<0,05) yaitu terdapat pengaruh akses pelayanan terhadap partisipasi pria dalam program KB. Hasil penelitian kualitas pelayanan dengan signifikansi 0,000 (p<0,05) yaitu terdapat pengaruh kualitas pelayanan terhadap partisipasi pria dalam program KB. Sejalan dengan penelitian (Rifai & Juhanto, 2022) bahwa peran petugas kesehatan berpengaruh terhadap pemakaian kontrasepsi. Fasilitas kontrasepsi pria di Kabupaten Jember belum maksimal digunakan masyarakat karena tempat pelayanan berpusat di kota sehingga sulit dijangkau  masyarakat. Responden menyatakan tidak pernah mendapat informasi kontrasepsi pria, sebagian responden pernah mendapat informasi mengenai kontrasepsi tetapi informasi yang diterima sangat terbatas.
