Abstract

Assistance in the form of seeds and feed will become one of the programs of the Kupang City Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Department in 2022 to improve the economy of 56 catfish farmers. The purpose of the study was to analyze the impact of capital, human resources, and marketing on yield in catfish farming. The investigation was conducted in the city of Kupang for 120 days. Data was collected through observations, questionnaires, and interviews and analyzed for rank spearman correlation, multiple regression, and SWOT analysis. Capital, human resources, and marketing factors significantly affected catfish production in Kupang City, with Rank Spearman's correlation p-value (0.024?0.050), p-value (0.021?0.050), and p-value (0.000?0.050). 0.277, 0.283, and 0.548 were obtained. The direction of the influence relationship of capital, human resources, and marketing factors on production is positive, meaning that production increases as capital increases, and production increases as capital increases. Better human resources capabilities lead to higher productivity and vice versa. Every time there is a change in production inputs, such as capital and human resources (labor), it affects the production at the catfish farm in Kupang City. Development strategies are implemented through consulting and training, expanded access to capital and large-scale promotions.

Abstract

Blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) is one type of crustacean that has great potential to be cultivated. Crab seed production activities are carried out to support the availability of crab seeds so as to reduce fishing activities in nature. Data collection during observation using the survey method, namely by making observations in the field. Seed production activities were carried out since container preparation, preparation of rearing media water, broodstock selection, broodstock rearing, egg hatching, larval rearing, feed management, water quality management, pest and disease management and harvesting. Egg fecundity of 750,000 eggs, egg fertilization rate of 83.60%, egg hatching rate of 76% and larval survival rate of 36.55% were obtained.

Abstract

Knowledge related to Bonylip Barb (Osteochilus vittatus Valenciennes, 1842) embryo development is essential as a first step to developing a suitable fish hatchery method to support higher egg quality and quantity, thus increasing fry production. The purpose of the observation is to study and provide information on the development of bonylip barb fish embryos, which has been limited to academics and the public until now. Observations were carried out in April 2023 at the Muntilan Fish Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory, Central Java. Bonylip Barb embryo development takes 23 hours and 11 minutes after fertilization. This process is influenced by factors that limit the embryo's development until hatching.

Abstract

Inappropriate cultivation methods and a decrease in the quality of seaweed seeds are some of the obstacles in seaweed production. Technology transfer activities through community service programs aim to provide learning to seaweed farmers on how to enrich seaweed seeds with bionic fertilizer and then cultivate them using the floating net cage method. The activity was carried out on August 24-25, 2022 at the Main Base Command Headquarters of the Indonesian Navy VII Kupang. The method used was a participatory empowerment approach involving seaweed farming communities with counseling and dissemination. Seaweed cultivation with the floating net cage method showed higher absolute growth, relative growth and daily growth rate compared to the longline method, which were 11.91 ± 0.69 g day-1, 0.032 ± 0.002 g g-1 day-1 and 3.14 ± 0.17% day -1, respectively. While in the longline method, it was 9.48±1.81 g day-1, 0.027±0.004 g g-1 day-1, and 2.65±0.43% day -1, respectively.
