Abstract

The 2024 General Election will be held on February 14th, 2024. As this nation's most significant political agenda, all groups are involved in the 2014 General Election. Because of this, there is expected to be a discourse battle in every election involving political actors, the mass media, and the public. Not only do information and news form positive discourse, but negative discourse also spreads. The public, candidates, and state actors color the public media space with clear information and good news and salt it with dirty information. Hoax on social media in media and fake news among the masses in the 2024 general election threaten social cohesion and national integration, as happened in the 2014 and 2019 general elections. There must be efforts to stem the spread of hoax and fake news. One of them is digital literacy, including digital media literacy. This research aims to analyze the construction of digital literacy, including digital media, in the 2024 general election to stem hoax and fake news in the 2024 general election. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and library data. The research results show that, firstly, the election moment is a time that is prone to the circulation of hoax and fake news. This is where digital literacy skills, including digital media literacy, emerge. Second, at a macro level, the state is responsible for digital literacy programs, including digital media literacy. Third, public communication between the Ministry of Communication and Information and the community is a vital bridge that must continue to be maintained and improve its effectiveness and efficiency so that the state's role in building digital literacy, including digital media literacy, is realized as quickly as possible.

Abstract

Abstract

#nazarpemilu on X/Twitter was a unique digital political reality during the 2024 Indonesian presidential election. It stood out as the only political hashtag that had practical consequences in the real world. On January 6, 2024, there were 49,562 mentions of #nazarpemilu on X/Twitter. The movement involved 6,432 accounts. This study aimed to describe and critique the construction of digital political reality on #nazarpemilu. This research uses a qualitative approach with a critical discourse analysis method.Through analyzing #nazarpemilu documents, conducting in-depth interviews with account owners, utilizing library data, and exploring intertextuality, it was discovered that social media acted as a public platform for expressing political aspirations in the face of inactive state institutions. #nazarpemilu represented a manifestation of despair against the inefficacy of formal state institutions, supporting candidates who shared similar values and opposing those who lacked integrity or violated the constitution. The research concluded that the dynamics of social media showcased a wave of positive, creative, and constructive energy that transcended into the physical realm. The readiness to embrace differing opinions online and offline led to many ideas and creativity, as evidenced by #nazarpemilu. The results of the study show that hashtags on X/Twitter are an arena for discourse battles to thwart candidates in political contests. Furthermore, social media goes beyond its original nature and function. It has turned into a political action that mobilizes citizens.

Abstract

This study examines demotivating factors in Moodle-based online and hybrid English language learning environments and proposes strategies to overcome them. A mixed-methods approach combining a cross-sectional survey and qualitative interviews was used. A modified Likert-scale questionnaire assessed demotivation and attitude, while e-interviews were conducted with 30 randomly chosen volunteer students in three group sessions to gain insights into their perceptions. Quantitative findings indicate that online learning exhibits higher demotivation levels compared to hybrid learning for English language acquisition. Half of the participants reported feeling somewhat demotivated, while the other half showed solid or low willingness to study English as a foreign language. Qualitative analysis revealed unsuccessful online learning experiences, challenges in the online class environment, inadequate course materials, and lack of interest as significant demotivating factors impacting student engagement in Moodle-based online learning. To enhance online and hybrid course design, English lecturers should address these demotivating factors and incorporate activities that promote learner motivation and proficiency development. This more concise version provides an overview of the study's focus, methods used, and key findings related to demotivating factors in Moodle-based online and hybrid English language learning environments
