Abstract

Under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), one of the key targets is to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, with the goal of achieving universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for the entire global population. To implement the development of ready-to-drink water systems to house connections, it is important to ensure that people are willing to pay the cost. This study aims to evaluate the influence of customer characteristics and satisfaction on Willingness To Pay (WTP) in the development of ready-to-drink water in Perumda Tirtanadi Medan services. WTP analysis is influenced by customer characteristics such as number of family members, type of employment, education level, income, and house size. In addition, customer satisfaction with the quality of drinking water already available in several public facilities in Medan City was also analyzed to understand its influence on Willingness To Pay. Customer satisfaction factors are influenced by average water usage, monthly water account payment fees, clarity, odor, taste, color, water discharge and frequency of water flow. The methodology used included multiple linear regression analysis, classical assumption testing, and reliability analysis. The results of the analysis show that WTP is positively and significantly influenced by customer characteristics and customer satisfaction. This analysis is expected to provide guidance for Perumda Tirtanadi in developing ready-to-drink water to house connections in Medan City. Abstract

The Gunung Leuser National Park (GLNP) area, among others, consist of tropical lowland-forest ecosystems that becomes the habitat of Sumatran orangutans (Pongo abelii). The GLNP is located at Aceh dan North Sumatra Provinces and lies on 830,268,95 hectares of land. To date, the area is not free from the pressure of forest degradation, such as encroachment and land conversion to plantations. This is a perturbing condition, especially concerning the biodiversity in its lowland-forest ecosystem. The vegetation composition that renders the succession of Sumatran orangutans in the GLNP lowland-forest was obtained by conducting vegetation analysis on the restoration sites in the forest. The analysis method adopted on this research was the grid-path method. Two transect lines, 1,000 metres each, were made for this purpose. Each line consisted of 10 plots with a distance of 100 metres between plots. The measurements were made on the growth rate of seedling, sapling, pole, and tree. The data were then processed to determine the Important Value Index (IVI), Diversity Index, Richness Index of vegetation, and Dominance Index of the research area. The results showed that the vegetation composition that rendered the succession of lowland-forests of GLNP consisted of 58 species and 26 families. Ficus fistulosa had the highest IVI at the growth-stages of seedling and sapling. And Macaranga tanarius had the highest IVI at the growth-stages of pole and tree. The species Diversity Index (Shannon-Wiener index) of the vegetation on the restoration site in lowland forests of GLNP showed moderate values at the growth-stage of seedling and pole, and high values at the growth-stages of sapling and tree. The Richness Index of vegetation showed moderate values at the growth-stages of seedling and pole. As for at the stages of sapling and tree, it showed high values. The Dominance Index of the restoration site in lowland forests of GLNP showed high values at all growth-stages.

Abstract

The increase in waste generation and the lack of waste management efforts in landfills (TPA) continuously causes the capacity of the landfill to be full. Determination of the location of a new landfill designation is one solution to avoid environmental pollution problems. The purpose of this study is to determine the location of the waste landfill feasible zone based on regional criteria and determine the location of alternative waste landfill designations based on the exclusion criteria in Bathin Solapan District. This research uses primary data and secondary data. The research method used is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. In this research, the location of waste landfill is determined by adjusting SNI 19-3241-1994 and analyzed by overlay analysis and scoring. The samples in this study were several locations determined from the results of overlaying several land unit maps. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. The results showed that there was a waste landfill feasibility zone in Bathin Solapan District covering an area of 21,831.1 Ha spread across 13 villages. The alternative location of the waste landfill designation based on the elimination criteria is located in Petani Village, Jalan Rangau km 17 with a land area of 9.16 Ha and a suitability value of 664. Based on the opt-out stage analysis, the selected alternative site has a more positive socio-economic impact compared to the other sites.

Abstract

Sustainable urban planning requires the integration of land use and transport to create efficient, safe and sustainable areas. One approach that supports this is the impact of regional development due to station operations, as illustrated by land use change. This research aims to analyse the land use change around Bandar Khalipah Station in Deli Serdang Regency as a potential area for TOD development in the future. This research uses visual interpretation method to classify land use using Google Earth satellite images in the period of 2014, 2018 and 2024. Data analysis was conducted by analysing the land use area and land use change matrix in the period of 2014 - 2024. The results of this study showed that there were changes in land use from the period 2024 - 2024. Land use in the area around Bandar Khalipah Station consists of six types, namely public areas and green open spaces, station and railway areas, commercial areas, offices, settlements and roads. Land change in 2014-2024 is most dominant in public areas and green open spaces. Public areas and green open spaces experienced a decrease in area due to land change into commercial and residential areas, so these two land categories experienced a significant increase in area.
