Abstract

Rimpang lengkuas (Alpinia galanga(L.)Swartz.) telah banyak digunakan oleh masyarakat didalam pengobatan tradisional sebagai obat infeksi pada kulit yaitu sebagai obat anti jamur yang masih digunakan dalam bentuk sederhana sehingga perlu dibuat suatu sediaan yang lebih praktis dan efektif yaitu dalam bentuk sediaan salep.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh tipe basis yaitu basis hidrokarbon, basis serap dan basis larut air terhadap aktivitas anti jamur minyak rimpang lengkuas terhadap penghambatan pertumbuhan Malassezia furfur. Minyak lengkuas diperoleh dengan menggunakan metode destilasi uap-air kemudian diuji sifat organoleptis yang meliputi bentuk,warna, dan bau dan sifat fisik yang meliputi berat jenis dan indeks bias dan uji kimianya dengan menggunakan GCMS (Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometer) serta dihitung rendemennya baru kemudian dibuat sediaan salep dalam 3 formula berdasarkan jenis basis( F1= basis hidrokarbon, F2= basis serap, F3= basis larut air) dengan metode yang sama yaitu metode peleburan. Salep yang diperoleh dilakukan uji stabilitas fisik meliputi homogenitas, daya lekat dan daya sebar, sedangkan untuk uji aktivitas anti jamurnya menggunakan metode difusi (dengan cara sumuran) dalam media agar dengan mengukur data diameter derah hambatannya terhadap pertumbuhan Malassezia furfur. Data diameter daerah hambatan tersebut dianalisis dengan uji anova satu jalan dan dilanjutkan dengan uji tuckey pada tingkat kepecayaan 95 %. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa basis larut air merupakan yang terbaik dalam menghambat aktivitas anti jamur Kata kunci: minyak atsiri lengkuas, basis salep, Malassezia furfur

Abstract

ABSTRACT Ethanol extract of Anacardium occidentale and rambutan bark  (Nephelium lappaceum) proved to have antifungal activity agains Candida albicans. Efforts to improve comfort and ease of use then made in the form of cream formulation.The aim of study is to know the antifungal activity of cream with various concentration of  Anacardium occidentaleleaf extract and rambutan bark againstCandida albicans. Extraction of ethanol extractAnacardium occidentale leaf (EAOL) and  rambutan bark (ERB) used maceration method. Solvents used ethanol 70% and ethanol 96%, respectively. Formulation cream of EAOL and ERB was maked 3 formulation.  Formulation cream EAOL with concentration of variations extract are FI (10,5%), FII (12,5%), FIII (14,5%). Formulation cream ERB with concentration of varions extract  are FI (10%), FII (15%), FIII (20%).  Antifungal activity was determined in the cream using agar diffusion method and  zone of inhibitionwere analyzed using descriptive. The results showed that  antifungal activity against  Candida albicans  of cream EAOL concentration 14,5% with zone of inhibition is 7,16 ± 0,28 mm and cream ERB concentration 20% with zone of inhibition is 9,5 ± 0,5 mm.  Kata Kunci : Antifungal,  Anacardium occidentale, Nephelium lappaceum,  Formulation ofcream

Abstract

ABSTRACTSuspention is the most effective liquid dosage form for magnesium hydroxide because the compound relatively insoluble in water. Pectin as suspending agent has been used to inhibit sedimentation of suspension. The aim of this research is to know physical and chemical characteristic of pectin from Bali Citrus Peels and the influence of difference concentration of pectin and storage duration to physical characteristic of magnesium hydroxide suspensions. Pectin powder was extracted from Bali Citrus Peels with 70% ethanol. Magnesium hidroxide suspensions were made in three formulas with pectin concentration 0.75%, 1.00% and 1.25%. The suspensions was tested for their physical characteristic such as particle sizes, viscosity, sediment volume, redispersibility and fluidity (easiness to be poured) for 4 weeks. The result of this research shown that the pectin from Bali Citrus Peels can be used as suspending agent. The pectin powder has 15.26% water content, pH 3 and no amylum. The viscosity of mucilago was 33.33 cP for 0.75% concentration of pectin, 37.17 cP for 1.00%, and 40.50 cP for 1.25% respectively at the time of preparation. The difference concentration of pectin and its storage duration significantly affected particle sizes, viscosity, redispersibility and fluidity, while sediment volumes had influenced until the end of first week. Abstract

ABSTRACTIn previous research, ethanolic extract of pineapple peel (EEPP) has activity as a sunscreen because of the content of flavonoids. EEPP can be formulated in the form of creams and lotions to facilitate use on the skin. This study aims to evaluate the physical chemistry characteristics of EEPP creams and lotions. Creams and lotions were made in 3 formulas based on variations in FI extract concentrations (15.0%), FII (17.5%), FIII (20.0%), base controls and positive controls (preparations on the market). The cream obtained was evaluated for physical chemical characteristics including organoleptic, homogeneity, adhesion and dispersion, viscosity, pH and SPF values which were analyzed descriptively. cream with varying concentrations of green, the distinctive smell of pineapple, homogeneous and in accordance with the pH of the skin. Increasing the concentration of EEPP in the preparation has an effect on increasing viscosity, adhesion but decreasing the dispersion. Whereas the lotion shows greenish color, aromatic odor and semisolid texture and is easily applied. The increase in EEPP in lotion affects the increase in pH, adhesion, but decreasing the dispersion.Keywords: Creams, lotions, sunscreen, pineapple fruit skin

Abstract

ABSTRACT Holy  basil  leaves  (Ocimum  sanctum  L.)  traditionally  used  by  the  people  as  a  stomatitis aphtosa medication. Bacteria could cause stomatitis aphtosa. Flavonoids in holy basil leaves had antibacterial activity. The usage of holy basil leaves traditionally were not practice so formulated more  acceptable  such  lozenges.  Acceptability  is  influenced  by  a  taste.  This  study  aims  was  to determine sweeteners variations which  is mannitol and  lactose from   the lozenges formulation of holy basil leaves extract on the physical properties and the level of consumer acceptance taste. Holy  basil  leaves  extract made  by maceration method  using  70%  ethanol.  Lozenges made within  5  based  on  the  variation  concentration  of mannitol  and  lactose  are FI  (100%:0%),  FII (75%:25%),  FIII  (50%:50%),  FIV  (25%:75%),  dan  FV  (0%:100%)  and  manufactured  by  wet granulation method. The granules obtained were tested for physical properties include flowability, angle  of  repose,  and  compressibility.  The  tablets  obtained  were  tested  for  physical  properties including  weight  uniformity,  hardness,  friability,  dissolve  time,  responsive  taste  test,  and  the active substance with TLC methods. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using one way ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis, except acceptability taste analyzed descriptionally.   The  results  showed  that  all  formulas  provide  lozenges  which  conform  the  quality specification. Abstract

ABSTRACTBreadfruit leaves contain flavonoid compounds that can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Breadfruit leaf extract is practical and effective formulated in ointment preparations. The base combination of PEG 400 and PEG 4000 decreases the melting point of PEG 4000, so that it is compatible and can increase the penetration of drugs in the skin. The objective of this study to determine the breadfruit leaf extract ointment with a combination of PEG 400 and PEG 4000 bases as well as antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Breadfruit leaf extract (BLE) was obtained by maceration with 70% ethanol. Salve preparations were made into III formulas with variations in base concentrations of PEG 400 and PEG 4000, namely (F1) 75%: 25%, (F2) 50%: 50%, (F3) 25%: 75%, using the fusion method. Antibacterial activity test used agar well diffusion method. Kruskal Wallis test and Mann Whitney test used for analyzed data from antibacterial activity test. The ointment of Breadfruit leaves extract showed the color of brown ointment, semi-solid form, distinctive aroma of breadfruit leave. All of three ointment formulas have antibacterial activity indicated by the formation of inhibitory zones around the well. All of three ointment formulas have significant differences which means the combination of PEG 400 and PEG 4000 can affect antibacterial activity of BLE ointment. The higher of the concentration PEG 4000 compared PEG 400 caused inhibiton zone become smaller that means the potency of antibacterial decreased. Abstract

ABSTRACTNoni leaf (Morinda citrofolia L.) has antioxidant compounds that can inhibit and counteract free radicals. Decocta Noni leaf to make more practice preparation of lozenges. This study aims to evaluate the physical chemical characteristics and taste response of lozenges with variations of sweeteners to cover the bitter taste of Noni leaves. Decocta mengkudu leaf is obtained by boiling at 90C for 30 minutes. Suction tablets made 9 formulas based on variations of sweeterners sucrose-water sweetener, sorbitol-sucrose-sugarcane water, and aspartame-sucrose-sugarcane water. The suction tablet is made by molding mixture method. Evaluation of physical chemical characteristics including hardness and solubility were analyzed statistically using one-way ANOVA with 95% confidence level, followed by tukey test, weight uniformity, taste response and thin layer chromatography analyzed descriptively. The results of the study was showed that influenced the increase in hardness and dissolution time and the results of the requirements physical lozenges The results of the TLC test of lozenges and decocytes showed an RF value close to Quercetin. The taste response test results showed formula I with variations of sugarcane-sucrose water sweetener, formula III with variations in sorbitol-sucrose-sugarcane-water sweetener and sugarcane water aspartame-sucrose was the most preferred by respondents of 85% - 95%.Keywords: leaf of morinda citrifolia l., lozenges, sorbitol, aspartame, sucrose, sugarcane water

Abstract

ABSTRACT Breadfruit leaves (Artocarpus altilis) was contain compound of flavonoids, tannins and phenol that the ability as antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The extracts of breadfruit leaves formulated became ointment that made practice to used. The combine of ointment bases can obtain of good consistency like the combine of adeps lanae with vaselin album and cera flava with vaselin album. The aims of this study to know the profile of antibacterial activity of the breadfruit leaves extract ointment with two kind of the combine of ointment bases. The breadfruit leaves extract has obtained by maceration method used etanol 70% solvents. The breadfruit leaves ointment was made by melting method with combination bases A is adeps lanae:vaselin album as F1 (13.5%:76.5%), F2 (45%:45%) dan F3 (76.5%:13.5%), while combination B is cera alba:vaselin album as F1 (85.5%:4.5%), F2 (81%:9%), F3 (76.5%:13.5%). antibacterial activity assay was used well diffusion method and analyzed descriptively. The research result that the all formulas has breadfruit flavor, smooth texture and brown color. Two variatons of combination bases ointment has antibacterial activity against Staphylcoccus aureus bacteri with formed of inhibition zone around the well. Abstract

ABSTRACTEthanol extract of bitter melon leaves at a concentration of 5% has been shown to have mucolytic activity. For ease of use that is made of dosage forms syrup. Thickening agent serves to increase the viscosity and resist settling process resulting in a stable syrup. Gelatin has the ability to improve settling extract better than other thickening. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of gelatin to the physical-chemical properties and activity of ethanol extract syrup mukolitik pare leaves the cow intestine mucus in vitro. Extraction of leaf bitter melon is done by percolation. EEDP was made into three syrup formulas using 1% (FII), 2% (FIII), 3% (FIV) gelatin thickener. There is also syrup without extract and gelatin (FI) as a control. The four syrup formulas were examined for physical chemical properties (organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity), and tested their mucolytic activity. Data on the results of activity tests in the form of viscosity were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis followed by Mann-Whitney. Data from organoleptic examination, homogeneity, Ph were analyzed descriptively, while viscosity with Linear Regression. The results showed that EEDP syrup with a gelatin concentration of 1%; 2%; 3% have mucolytic activity. The results of examination of the physico-chemical properties of FII, III, and IV syrups have the same taste and color, sweet and bitter, and are greenish black in color, while FI syrup is sweet and yellowish in color. Homogeneous FI syrup, FIII and FIV syrup are evenly distributed, while FII syrup has coarse particles. Fourth pH normal syrup formula. Abstract

INTISARI Daun Pare telah digunakan sebagai obat batuk oleh masyarakat dan memiliki rasa sangat pahit. Mempertimbangkan acceptabilitas dan  kemudahan dalam pemakaian  maka ekstrak etanol daun pare dibuat sediaan tablet hisap dengan kombinasi pemanis Sukrosa dan Aspartam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik fisik tablet hisap ekstrak etanol daun Pare dengan kombinasi pemanis Sukrosa dan Aspartam, serta penerimaan rasa oleh responden. Ekstrak etanol daun pare dibuat secara maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Tablet hisap dibuat dalam 5 formula berdasarkan kombinasi pemanis sukrosa dan aspartam yaitu FI (sukrosa 10% : aspartam 0%), FII (sukrosa 6% : aspartam 4%), FIII (sukrosa 5% : aspartam 5%), FIV (sukrosa 4% : aspartam 6%), FV (sukrosa 0% : aspartam 10%). Metode granulasi basah digunakan  untuk pembuatan tablet  hisap. Granul diuji sifat fisik meliputi kecepatan alir, sudut diam dan kompresibilitas. Tablet hisap yang diperoleh diuji sifat fisik meliputi keseragaman bobot, kekerasan, kerapuhan, dan waktu larut serta tanggapan rasa. Data hasil uji granul dibandingkan dengan pustaka yang diacu. Data kerapuhan dan waktu larut dianalisa  secara statistik menggunakan uji  Kruskal-wallis. Data keseragaman bobot  tablet dan kekerasan dianalisa menggunakan uji ANOVA satu jalan, untuk keseragaman bobot tablet dilanjutkan dengan uji Tukey, dengan taraf kepercayaan 95%. Data tanggapan rasa dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi pemanis sukrosa dan aspartam menghasilkan tablet hisap ekstrak etanol daun pare yang memenuhi persyaratan fisik dan terdapat perbedaan pada FI dan FIII, FII dan FIII dari keseragaman bobot. Tablet  hisap FIV memiliki tingkat penerimaan rasa oleh responden sebesar 85%. The ethanol extract of  bitter melon leaves made by maceration using ethanol 70%  as solvent. Lozenges made in 5 formula based on a combination of sweeteners sucrose and aspartame are FI (sucrose 10%: aspartame 0%), FII (sucrose 6%: aspartame 4%), FIII (sucrose 5%: aspartame 5%), FIV (sucrose 4 %: aspartame 6%), FV (sucrose 0%: 10% of aspartame). The wet granulation method    used for manufactured  of lozenges. The granules tested physical properties include the flow rate, angle of repose and compressibility. Lozenges was tested physical properties include uniformity of weight, hardness, friability, time of solubility and  hedonic test. Data from the granul assay  compared with a  standard reference. Data  of  fragility and  time of solubility analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test  statistically. Data  of  uniformity of weight and hardness were analyzed using  one way  ANOVA  test,  and  for uniformity  of weight  followed by Tukey's test, with a level of 95%. Data hedonic were analyzed descriptively.  40 The results  showed that the combination of  sweetener  sucrose and aspartame  on  the lozenges  of  ethanol extract of  bitter melon  leaves  are  requirements  of physical and there is a difference the uniformity of weight in FI and FIII, FII and FIII.
