Abstract

Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan representasi matematis siswa masih rendah. Tujuan penelitian untuk menganalisis kemampuan representasi matematis siswa SMP pada materi penyajian data. Penelitian dilakukan di Kampung Citalahab Kaler, Desa Bungbulang-Garut. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode analisis deskriptif, yang melibatkan 3 siswa sebagai sampel, menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Instrumen tes kemampuan representasi matematis siswa sebanyak 5 soal berbentuk uraian. Hasil penelitian yaitu (1) Kemampuan representasi matematis pada indikator representasi gambar (pictorial representation) adalah hampir semua siswa dari ke tiga sampel sudah mampu menyelesaikan suatu masalah dengan menggunakan representasi visual. (2) Kemampuan representasi matematis pada indikator representasi simbol (symbolic representation) adalah hampir semua siswa dari ketiga sampel belum mampu dalam menyelesaikan masalah menggunakan representasi simbol. (3) Kemampuan representasi matematis pada indikator representasi verbal (verbal representation) adalah sebagian siswa sudah mampu menggunakan representasi verbal namun beberapa diantaranya masih belum bisa menyampaikan ide matematisnya dengan bahasa sendiri. Several studies have shown that students' mathematical representation skills are still low. The research objective was to analyze the mathematical representation ability of junior high school students on data presentation material. The research was conducted in Citalahab Kaler Village, Bungbulang-Garut Village. This research uses a qualitative approach. The method used is the descriptive analysis method, which involved 3 students as a sample, using a simple random sampling technique. The test instrument for the students' mathematical representation ability consisted of 5 questions in the form of descriptions. The results of the study are (1) The ability of mathematical representations on the pictorial representation indicator is that almost all students from the three samples have been able to solve a problem using a visual representation. (2) The ability of mathematical representation in the symbolic representation indicator is that almost all students from the three samples have not been able to solve problems using symbolic representations. (3) The ability of mathematical representation on the verbal representation indicator is that some students can use verbal representations, but some of them are still unable to convey their mathematical ideas in their language.

Abstract

Kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa rendah. Upaya meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa diantaranya dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran yang menekankan keaktifan siswa seperti Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, and Extending (CORE) dan Means Ends Analysis (MEA). Penelitian bertujuan mengkaji perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa antara yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran CORE dengan MEA. Metode penelitian adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas XI salah satu SMA Negeri di Garut. Sampel penelitian yaitu kelas XI MIPA 4 dan XI MIPA 5. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes uraian kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa antara yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran CORE dengan MEA, dengan kualitas peningkatan berinterpretasi sedang. Model pembelajaran CORE lebih baik dalam meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis. The students' mathematical connection ability is low. Efforts to improve students' mathematical connection skills include applying learning models that emphasize student activity such as Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, and Extending (CORE) and Means Ends Analysis (MEA). This study aims to examine the differences in the improvement of students' mathematical connection skills between those who received the CORE learning model and the MEA. The research method is quasi-experimental with a population of all students of class XI one of the Public SMA in Garut. The research sample is class XI MIPA 4 and XI MIPA 5. The data collection technique uses a description test of mathematical connection abilities and student attitude questionnaires. The results showed that there were differences in the improvement of students' mathematical connection skills between those who received the CORE and MEA learning models, with moderate improvement in interpreting quality. The CORE learning model is better at improving mathematical connection skills.

Abstract

Kemampuan pemecahan masalah sangat penting bagi siswa karena dengan siswa mampu menyelesaikan suatu masalah siswa memperoleh pengalaman, menggunakan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang sudah dimiliki oleh siswa untuk diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis ditinjau dari kemandirian belajar siswa pada materi Lingkaran. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Muarasanding Kec. Garut Kota. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian yaitu 4 siswa kelas VIII. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu tes, observasi, dan wawancara. Data dianalisis dengan tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang memiliki kemandirian belajar baik maka kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematisnya pun akan baik, dan siswa yang memiliki kemandirian belajar rendah maka kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematisnyapun akan rendah. Problem-solving ability is very important for students because with students being able to solve a problem students gain experience, use the knowledge and skills already possessed by students to be applied in everyday life. The purpose of this study was to analyze mathematical problem-solving abilities in terms of student learning independence in the Circle material. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted in Muarasanding Village, Kec. Garut City. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. The research sample is 4 students of class VIII. Data collection techniques are tests, observations, and interviews. The data were analyzed with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results showed that students who have good learning independence have good mathematical problem-solving abilities, and students who have low learning independence have low mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Kemampuan komunikasi matematis akan membuat seseorang bisa menggunakan matematika untuk kepentingan sendiri maupun orang lain sehingga akan meningkatkan sikap positif terhadap matematika. Kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada umumya masih rendah, baik secara lisan maupun tulisan. Rendahnya komunikasi matematis terlihat karena siswa sangat jarang mengemukakan ide-ide matematikanya secara lisan dengan bahasa matematika yang tepat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh deskripsi kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa MTs kelas VIII pada materi Penyajian Data. Metode penelitian adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data mencakup observasi, tes, wawancara, instrumen pengumpulan data dan dokumentasi, dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan model analisis Milles dan Huberman. Subjek penelitian adalah lima orang siswa MTs kelas VIII tahun ajaran 2020/2021. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek penelitian belum menguasai semua indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Hal ini terlihat dari hasil jawaban subjek penelitian yang masih banyak melakukan kesalahan ketika menjawab soal yang diberikan. Mathematical communication skills will enable someone to use mathematics for their own benefit and for others so that it will increase positive attitudes towards mathematics. In general, students' mathematical communication skills are still low, both orally and in writing. The low level of mathematical communication can be seen because students rarely express their mathematical ideas orally with the right mathematical language. The purpose of this study was to obtain a description of the mathematical communication skills of class VIII MTs students on data presentation material. The research method is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques include observation, tests, interviews, data collection instruments and documentation, with data analysis techniques using Milles and Huberman analysis models. The research subjects were five MTs grade VIII students for the 2020/2021 academic year. Based on the results of the study showed that the research subjects had not mastered all indicators of mathematical communication skills. This can be seen from the results of the answers of research subjects who still make many mistakes when answering the questions given.

Abstract

Kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan self-confidence penting dalam pembelajaran matematika. Namun, banyak siswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam mengungkapkan ide matematis dan kurang percaya diri dalam pembelajaran. Diperlukan model pembelajaran inovatif seperti Inquiry Learning dan Discovery Learning yang melibatkan siswa secara aktif. Penelitian bertujuan menganalisis perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan self-confidence antara siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan model Inquiry dan Discovery Learning, serta mengkaji hubungan antara kedua kemampuan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes dan kuesioner, dianalisis menggunakan Independent Sample t-test dan uji t’ untuk membandingkan peningkatan, serta uji korelasi Pearson untuk melihat hubungan antar variabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan self-confidence antara kedua model pembelajaran. Namun, tidak ditemukan hubungan antara peningkatan komunikasi matematis dan self-confidence dalam masing-masing model. Mathematical communication skills and self-confidence are two important aspects in learning mathematics. However, many students still have difficulty expressing mathematical ideas and lack confidence in learning. Therefore, innovative learning models such as Inquiry Learning and Discovery Learning are needed that actively involve students. This study aims to analyze the differences in the improvement of mathematical communication skills and self-confidence between students who are taught with the Inquiry and Discovery Learning models, and to examine the relationship between the two abilities. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Data were collected through tests and questionnaires, then analyzed using the Independent Sample t-test and t' test to compare improvements, and the Pearson correlation test to see the relationship between variables. The results showed differences in the improvement of mathematical communication skills and self-confidence between the two learning models. However, no relationship was found between the improvement of mathematical communication and self-confidence in each model.

Abstract

Secara umum tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa SMP melalui pendekatan Metacognitive Instruction. Penelitian ini merupakan studi eksperimen di SMPN 2 Tarogong Kidul Garut dengan desain penelitian Kelompok kontrol Non-Ekivalen pretes-postes. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Metacognitive Instruction lebih baik dari pada kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Sikap siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Metacognitive Instruction positif. The general objective of this research is to improve critical thinking mathematically junior high school students through metacognitive Instruction approach. This study is an experimental study in SMPN 2 Tarogong Kidul with research design Non-equivalent control group pretest-postest. The results showed that the ability of mathematical critical thingking of students who received metacognitive Instruction approach to learning with better on critical thingking of students who have mathematical with conventional learning. Students' attitudes toward learning with Metacognitive Instruction approach positive.
