Abstract

ABSTRACT Stunting remains a major global public health concern that impedes human development. In Indonesia, the 2023 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) reported a stunting prevalence of 19.6%. Early intervention during the preconception period is essential to ensure effective and sustainable outcomes. Prospective brides, particularly future mothers, play a critical role in stunting prevention by understanding its long-term impacts and adopting a balanced, nutritious diet to support optimal maternal and child health. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of information dissemination on the knowledge and attitudes of prospective brides regarding stunting prevention within the working area of Sei Jang Public Health Center, Tanjungpinang City. A quasi-experimental study design was employed, using a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. A total of 42 prospective brides participated and received health education through structured feedback sheets. A paired t-test was used to assess the impact of the intervention on knowledge and attitudes. The findings revealed a significant increase in both knowledge and attitude scores following the intervention. The mean knowledge score increased from 13.21 (pre-test) to 18.86 (post-test), while the mean attitude score rose from 27.48 to 42.07. Bivariate analysis indicated a statistically significant effect of the stunting education intervention on both variables (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05). Abstract

Hormonal contraception is the most widely used contraceptive method. However, this hormonal contraceptive method has several different side effects. This is a factor that causes birth control discontinuation. One side effect frequently complained of by birth control users is menstrual pain. Menstrual pain is caused by uterine muscle spasms during menstruation, also known as dysmenorrhea. Psychological and physiological disorders that occur during menstruation include anxiety, discomfort, and disruption of daily activities due to hormonal imbalances. To reduce complaints of menstrual pain due to side effects, complementary therapy, counterpressure massage, is used. This study aims to determine the effect of complementary therapy, counterpressure massage, on menstrual pain. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, with a sample size of 26 respondents, and the pain measurement used was the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Based on the average degree of menstrual pain in the post-test, it was 2.15 compared to 4.27 before the counterpressure massage. The Wilcoxon test results showed that the counterpressure massage group obtained a ρ value of 0.001 (p<0.05). In conclusion, counterpressure massage is effective in reducing menstrual pain due to hormonal contraception side effects in the Setatah Children's Health Center work area. Abstract

The coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia is still suboptimal (52.5%). Limited maternal knowledge, skills, and low self-confidence in breastfeeding are the main factors causing breastfeeding failure. This study was conducted at the Maternal and Child Health Hospital (RSKIA). This study aimed to test the effectiveness of the Learning Practice model in lactation education on maternal knowledge, breastfeeding skills, self-efficacy, and success of exclusive breastfeeding. A quasi-experimental pre-post control group design involving 60 postpartum mothers was used. The intervention group received four education sessions while the control group received conventional education. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests, independent t-tests, and chi-square tests. The intervention group showed significant improvements in knowledge, skills, and self-efficacy (p<0.001). Success of exclusive breastfeeding was higher in the intervention group (86.7%) compared to the control group (60%) (p=0.018). These findings suggest that experience-based and practice-based education helps mothers translate knowledge into confidence and effective breastfeeding behavior.
