Abstract

Kata kunci : kepatuhan minum obat, filariasis, perilaku masyarakat, pengetahuanAbstractFilariasis elimination program in Indonesia set two pillars that cut the transmission with the prevention of filariasis mass drug administration (POMP filariasis) in endemic areas and preventing and limiting disability due to filariasis. POMP minimum coverage by 85% must be achieved to break the chain of transmission. Bandung Regency POMP coverage is still low at 78% compared to other regions in West Java Province. It required an analysis of community behavior towards filariasis drug compliance so it can be known which factors may be the leverage of POPM coverage in the regency. This study is to describe and observe people’s  behavior  influence  toward  POMP  medication  adherence.  This  study  was  a  cross  sectional studies. Research location carried in three selected villages in the Majalaya district, Bandung Regency, for two months in August-September 2013. Primary data were collected by interviews using a structured questionnaire. The results showed that the practice of taking medication adherence was significantly related to the community compliance to take medication (p-value 0,001). Abstract

Red fruit can commercially be obtained in extract (oil) form and capsulated oil (softcapsule). Within oil form, this product has lower tenacity and stability against light, heat, oxygen, and extreme environmental condition due to its content of easily degradable antioxidant group active compound. Red Fruit based essence product have been ever fortified into other food product, but only fortified into fried oil to improve carotene rate. One alternative to deal this problem refers to microencapsulation. Microencapsulation means the process of wrapping one certain central particle with other material to reach expected physical and chemical characteristic. Microencapsulation method used in this research has been spray drying. Research was arranged by using Completely Randomized Design that organized in factorial pattern involving two factors. First factor includes coating materials (soybean protein isolate and Na-caseinate), while second factor entails red fruit oil proportion (20 %, 30%, and 40%). The analysis covers moisture content, β-carotene, microstructure, microencapsulation efficiency, yield, antioxidant activity, and microcapsule stability against temperature. Results of analysis indicate that microcapsule with Na-caseinate had better quality compared to wrapping with soybean protein isolate. The best treatment comes from treatment combination with Na-caseinate wrapping in proportion of 20% red fruit oil. Microcapsule with the best treatment has moisture content of 1.34 %, β-carotene of 580.42 μg/g, microcapsule size of 36,98 μm, microencapsulation efficiency of 95,59%, and yield of 93,37%. The process of red fruit oil microencapsulation with Na-caseinate in proportion of 20 % can be used as an alternative to facilitate distribution process, to increase product storability, and product fortification process into other food product. Keywords: microencapsulation, red fruit, oil proportion, antioxidant stability, protein based coating

Abstract

During this pandemic, reports related to the treatment of Tuberculosis in Tasikmalaya were associated with the public's preference for treatment at private health facilities and the limited availability of Tuberculosis services at public health centers. Built upon these reports, this study aims to provide an overview of the implementation of policies related to the treatment of Tuberculosis in Tasikmalaya during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is qualitative research conducted using in-depth interviews with key informants using interview guidelines that were thematically arranged. Determination of informants in this study using purposive sampling. In-depth interviews were carried out in stages: at the provincial, city, sub-district, and kelurahan levels to obtain an overall picture of TB treatment in the research area. Data were analyzed by using content analysis techniques. The result showed that resource support in the form of budget, facilities, and infrastructure is available but not optimally sufficient for the TB treatment program, while HR is also still experiencing shortages due to the division of tasks for COVID-19. In addition, the increase in human resource capacity cannot be carried out due to a ban on offline activities during the pandemic. Cooperation between government and private health facilities has been initiated, including the formation of DOTS in private health facilities (clinics, private hospitals), although only a small part. Development activities (monitoring and evaluation) related to DPPM network services have not been carried out optimally, this is because there is no activity plan for each team within the organization. This study concludes that efforts to treat Tuberculosis in Tasikmalaya during the COVID-19 pandemic are still ongoing, but in optimally functioned.

Abstract

Vector Borne Diseases are diseases that cause many problems. These diseases are spread by mosquitoes as the vectors. They transmit parasites to humans through their bites. The people who live in Indonesia have several characteristics that make them vulnerable to these diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to explore these characteristics in order to gain better prevention promotional targeting strategy. This study aims to determine the factors that can influence mosquito bite prevention behaviour in Indonesian society.  The data from a nationwide survey research were used with a cross sectional design conducted once in every five years.  The Riskesdas was conducted from April to May 2018 in all districts in Indonesia. The influencing factors observed were including experience of exposure to vector borne diseases (malaria or filariasis), gender, age group, education level and area of residence. This study conducted a multivariate test using logistic regression analysis to determine the factors that influence mosquito bite prevention behaviour. The results demonstrated that the factors of experience of exposure to vector borne diseases, gender, age group, education level and area of residence could determine the mosquitoes bite prevention behaviour in Indonesian society. Respondents who have experience of being exposed to malaria or filaria, under 60 years old, women, college graduates, and rural communities are more likely to prevent mosquito bites, therefore they could be empowered in promoting public awareness towards mosquito bites prevention.

Abstract

The inefficient use of electrical energy and office facilities often leads to waste, equipment damage, and potential workplace hazards. This community service program focused on educating employees to use electricity and office facilities in a safe and efficient manner. The objectives were to raise awareness of safety and efficiency, reduce energy consumption and the risk of facility damage, and enhance professionalism in the use of office equipment. The program was implemented through an interactive online workshop via Zoom, consisting of a pre-test, delivery of materials and practical sessions on five key indicators (electrical devices, computers, air conditioners, lighting, and electrical panels), a post-test, and reflective discussions. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding, as indicated by higher average post-test scores compared to pre-test results. Moreover, participants were able to identify risks of improper electricity use and apply energy-saving strategies. This activity successfully fostered a safer, more efficient, and professional work environment. In the future, further programs are needed to monitor work behavior, strengthen internal policies, and integrate energy-saving technologies to ensure the sustainability of these positive impacts.

Abstract

Abstract. Mosquitoes play a direct role in the spread of various vector-borne diseases in tropical countries. The three main mosquito genera that spread disease in Indonesia are Aedes, Culex, and Anopheles. Jembrana Regency, Bali Province is an endemic area for dengue, malaria, and filariasis. Jembrana Regency is still reporting cases of DHF, malaria and is in the stage of administering filariasis mass prevention drugs in 2020. Control of mosquito vectors is influenced by various things, such as the specific habitat of the larvae and the density of adult mosquitoes. The study used data from Rikhus Vektora 2017 in Jembrana Regency, Bali Province by characterizing specific habitats, measuring water parameters, calculating mosquito density with the Man Hour Density formula, and measuring environmental parameters in all types of ecosystems. Specific habitat of Aedes sp. in the form of a puddle of freshwater that is not in contact with the ground, Culex sp. in the form of a puddle of fresh water in contact with the ground, and Anopheles sp. a pool of fresh-brackish water in contact with the ground with different water parameters but still in a close range. The mosquito density was dominated by Culex sp. in all ecosystems except for coastal ecosystems close to settlements dominated by Aedes sp. All adult mosquitoes (Aedes sp., Culex sp., and Anopheles sp.) in Jembrana Regency are more zoophilic. The behavior of all adult mosquitoes is different in each ecosystem, which can be endophagic or exophagic. Environmental parameters in Jembrana Regency have the potential to support mosquito breeding.

Abstract

The government targets malaria elimination in Java and Bali by 2023. But until 2020, Pangandaran and Pandeglang Regency haven’t received malaria-free certification. This qualitative study was conducted to provide an overview of Pangandaran and Pandeglang malaria control implementation by comparing it to Activity Indicators based on the Indonesian Minister of Health Decree on malariaelimination. In-depth interviews, using thematically interview guidelines, were conducted to 48 key informants such as policyholders and people in charge of health programs and cross-sectoral at the provincial, district, sub-district, and village levels. Thematic analysis was used in the theme of policy implementation, budget, facilities and infrastructures, human resources, and cross-sector cooperation. The result shows that malaria control is implemented according to the decree, but some activities haven’t been done. The analysis on policy implementation theme shows that both districts have carried out according to the guidelines, with innovation in the form of establishing Posmaldes (village malaria post) in Ujung Kulon National Park in Pandeglang. APBD, APBN, and Global Fund are used asbudget sources. Both districts stated that facilities and infrastructures are sufficiently available, but there is a lack in human resources’ quantity and varying degrees of competencies. There is also a lack of cross-sector cooperation because malaria control hasn’t become a priority in those sectors and they are only acting as supports to the health sector. Efforts to control malaria are considered less optimal due to the absence of malaria elimination regulations, varied human resource capabilities, and the limitation in the duties and functions of cross-sectors.
