Abstract

This study aimed to (1) identify entrepreneurial product that is feasible to be developed to support the pesantren’s independence, (2) find the appropriate assistance strategies to improve the pesantren’s entrepreneurship through the salafi model quality management system (SMQMS), and (3) describe the performance of Islamic entrepreneurship after applying SMQMS. The method used is participatory action research with the stages of plan, action, observe, and reflect. This study selected a sample of 64 students, 4 teachers, and kyai (pesantren leaders), using a purposive sampling technique. The participants all attended Islamic vocational high school in Darus Sholawat Pesantren, Madiun, Indonesia. Descriptive analysis were performed to analyze the data. The results of the study indicate that: (1) entrepreneurial product that is deserved to be prioritized to develop is sharia laundry business, because involves its impact on the pesantren’s learning process and economy; (2) the strategy for developing the pesantren’s educational quality is the use of SMQMS; (3) the independence of the pesantren is shown in the learning aspect through the "learning quality pledge" and courage to opine, while the aspect of entrepreneurship is shown through a sharia laundry business based on the SMQMS.

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the three main issues, those are the main challenges faced by higher education institutions of Islamic Religion (PTAI),the implementation of the integration of religion and science in PTAI, and PTAI response to secularization and Islamization of science. Those make this paper focuson the discussion how PTAI response to the challenges, so PTAI can offer objects and perspective studies of Islamic knowledge and science that are universal, not dichotomous impression, challenging and interesting in future studies. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tiga masalah pokok, yaitu tantangan utama yang dihadapi oleh lembaga Pendidikan Tinggi Islam Agama (PTAI), implementasi integrasi agama dan sains di PTAI, dan respon PTAI terhadap sekularisasi dan Islamisasi sains. Hal itu menjadikan tulisan ini lebih menitikberatkan pada diskusi bagaimana respon PTAI terhadap berbagai tantangan, sehingga PTAI dapat menawarkan objek dan perspektif kajian pengetahuan Islam dan sains yang universal, tidak terkesan dikotomis, menantang dan menarik minat studi di masa depan.

Abstract

The existence and role of religion (Islam) get a sharp criticism, which essentially needs a re-examination of religious dogma that has been frozen, if religion does not want to be abandoned by the swift stream of modernization. Truly the religion God revealed to the earth is for man. So religion is born to man, not man born to religion. If man is born to religion, then the most prominent is his transcendent dimension, the religious world from which he came, far from the earth. If so, then humans enter into the world aIkoholistik-theocentric, intoxicated. Factors that cause humans away from the ideal message of the Qur'an is a factor understanding of religion. A series of worship conducted by religious people such as prayer, zakat, fasting, pilgrimage, and the like only stop at the point of carrying out obligations (fiqh oriented) and become a symbol of piety, while the fruits of worship that dimensi sosial less visible. Among religious communities, there has been a misunderstanding in interpreting and appreciating and appreciating the symbolic message. As a result, religion is understood only as an individual savior and not as a social blessing.  Eksistensi dan peran agama (Islam) mendapatkan kritik tajam, yang intinya perlu adanya pengkajian ulang terhadap dogma agama yang selama ini telah membeku, jika agama tidak ingin ditinggalkan begitu saja oleh derasnya arus modernisasi. Sesungguhnya agama itu diturunkan Tuhan ke bumi memang untuk manusia. Jadi agama lahir untuk manusia, bukan manusia lahir untuk agama. Jika manusia lahir untuk agama, maka yang pal­ing menonjol adalah dimensi transendennya, dunia agama tempat asal ia turun, jauh dari bumi. Jika demikian, maka manusia masuk kedalam dunia aIkoholistik-teosentris, mabuk ketuhanan. Faktor yang menyebabkan manusia jauh dari pesan ideal al Quran adalah faktor pemahaman terhadap agama. Serangkaian ibadah yang dilakukan umat beragama (Islam) seperti shalat, zakat, puasa, haji, dan sejenisnya hanya berhenti pada sebatas menjalankan kewajiban (fiqh oriented) dan menjadi simbol kesalehan, sedangkan buah ibadah yang berdimensi sosial kurang nampak. Di kalangan masyarakat beragama, telah terjadi kesalahpahaman dalam memaknai dan menghayati serta mengapresiasi pesan simbolik itu. Akibatnya, agama hanya di pahami sebagai penyelamat individu dan bukan sebagai keberkahan sosial.

Abstract

As what Weber and Mc. Lelland view, it is assumed that values in certain religion and culture are believed to be able to influence the followers' behavior which are implied on the economic growth. Although indirectly they influence the economic development. Although Islam teaches about the work culture, the relity shows that Indonesian econmy has been well-develop yet. Religion (Islam) as Weber critisizes, does not result in capitalism industrialization as the motivator of economic development because the culture is in line with The Spirit of Capitalism.  It is different from Calvinism; its theology is able to move the economy development of its followers. Therefore, the Moslems' problem of economic decrease has to be solved with a right strategy. In this paper, the strategy used to solve the problem is macro analysis through the model of M. Chapra' s cycle theory. Seperti apa Weber dan Mc. Pandangan lelland, diasumsikan bahwa nilai-nilai dalam agama dan budaya tertentu diyakini dapat mempengaruhi perilaku pengikut yang tersirat pada pertumbuhan ekonomi. Meski secara tidak langsung mereka mempengaruhi perkembangan ekonomi. Meskipun Islam mengajarkan tentang budaya kerja, relitas menunjukkan bahwa ekonmy Indonesia telah berkembang dengan baik. Agama (Islam) seperti yang dikemukakan Weber, tidak mengakibatkan industrialisasi kapitalisme sebagai motivator pembangunan ekonomi karena budayanya sejalan dengan The Spirit of Capitalism. Hal ini berbeda dengan Calvinisme; Teologinya mampu menggerakkan perkembangan ekonomi para pengikutnya. Oleh karena itu, masalah penurunan ekonomi umat Islam harus dipecahkan dengan strategi yang tepat. Dalam tulisan ini, strategi yang digunakan untuk memecahkan masalah adalah analisis makro melalui model teori siklus M. Chapra.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the application of the discussion method in Sociology learning to students' critical thinking skills at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. The objectives of this research include (1) To find out whether the discussion method affects the critical thinking skills of IPS students at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang (2) To find out the use of the discussion method is an alternative to fostering critical thinking skills in the sociology learning process of IPS students at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. The results showed that students in Sociology learning conducted at the State Islamic University of Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang used the discussion method, where this method became one of the most effective methods to use. There are several reasons that strengthen the effectiveness of using this method, including 1) the class becomes more lively and fun because students will compete to express their thoughts, 2) students become more active during the learning process, 3) the material being taught will be easier to remember because students are directly involved with the conversations that are being held. Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh penerapan metode diskusi dalam pembelajaran Sosiologi terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa di UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. Adapun tujuan adanya penelitian ini antara lain (1) Untuk mengetahui apakah metode diskusi terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa IPS di UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang (2) Untuk mengetahui penggunaan metode diskusi menjadi alternatif guna menumbuhkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam proses pembelajaran ilmu sosiologi mahasiswa IPS di UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa pada pembelajaran Sosiologi yang dilakukan di Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang menggunakan metode diskusi, dimana metode ini menjadi salah satu metode yang efektif untuk digunakan. Adapun beberapa alasan yang memperkuat efektivitas penggunaan metode ini, diantaranya 1) kelas menjadi lebih hidup dan menyenangkan karena mahasiswa akan berlomba-lomba mengungkapkan pemikirannya, 2) mahasiswa menjadi lebih aktif pada saat proses pembelajaran berlangsung, 3) materi yang diajarkan akan lebih mudah diingat karena mahasiswa terlibat langsung dengan pembicaraan yang dilakukan.
