Abstract

This research aims to analyze the politeness and impoliteness strategies in The Sleeping Beauty Movie. This research used qualitative method by selecting and collecting data in the Sleeping Beauty movie. After selecting and collecting the data, the researchers identify and analyze word by word conversation among characters and used the concept of Brown and Levinson, Geoffrey Leech, and Bousfield and Locher related to pragmatics study. The result shows that there are 19 examples of politeness strategies, politeness maxims and impoliteness strategies. They are 4 examples of politeness strategies, 8 examples of politeness maxims, 7 examples of impoliteness strategies. The researchers concludes that the positive and impoliteness strategies in the Sleeping Beauty Movie is dominated by positive impoliteness and approbation maxim.Keywords: Impoliteness, Politeness, Pragmatics, Sleeping Beauty Movie, Strategies

Abstract

In this research article, the author analyzes the difficulties of students in learning English in . The SMA Budi Satrya Medan. focus of this research is to find students' difficulties in understanding the material presented and remembering the material from previous learning. The study is done by taking 10 students from the eleventh grade BudiSatrya. This study uses a classical and individual approach in collecting qualitative and quantitative data. The data obtained were obtained from the results of student learning exploration in the classroom and conducting interviews with students. The results show that the difficulty of learning English in the classroom is determined by how the teacher conveys the material. In connection with the research results obtained, it is suggested that teachers can use learning methods that are preferred by students so that students get a high sense of motivation to learn English in the classroom.

Abstract

Teaching strategy is one of the important things and is a way for teachers to support teaching and learning activities in schools. Teaching strategies are also really needed by teachers to increase students' interest in learning during learning activities and make students more interested in learning. In writing this study, the authors analyzed teaching strategies with students' learning interests towards English lessons of MTS Ali Imron Medan students with the aim of knowing what teaching strategies were used by English teachers in English lessons and students' interests in teaching strategies that teachers used in language lessons. England. The type of research used in this study is a qualitative research method. In perfecting the research results, using the interview method with the English teacher at MTS Ali IMron Medan. The results of the study show that students' interest in learning English is determined by the teaching strategies used by the teacher in the classroom. In connection with the results obtained, it is suggested that teachers can use and choose teaching strategies that are liked by students so that students are more interested in learning English.

Abstract

This study aims to determine, provide a complete and clear picture of the influence of school facilities and infrastructure on the learning process of Mas Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah high cliff students. This research was conducted on level 3 senior high school students in the academic odd semester of 2022/2023. The research methods used in this research are quantitative methods, library research, and quantitative methods. Data collection techniques through direct observation to schools, distributing questionnaires containing several questions and conducting interviews with several teachers, the results obtained from this study are: 1) the school has enough facilities that support the learning process. The most of the students agree that the school has complete facilities that support the learning process. 2) 75% of the total 100%, only about 25% do not agree that the facility is a bad influence. 3) Some teachers do not use school facilities properly so that the existing facilities are not used. 4) There are more students who like the way teacher uses the facility in learning process than do not like it. Those who like it because of the teacher is creative in using the facility.

Abstract

English is a language for writing and speaking. To comprehend the meaning of information, thoughts, and feelings and to use language to advance science, technology, and culture is to comprehend and express communication. If you want to keep up with how the world is changing, you need to know and understand English. This study looked at how English class learning methods and facilities affected students' motivation to learn more about art and culture. The results show that better facilities improve students' motivation. Students will be able to learn more effectively and more easily if the appropriate method is chosen. In addition, the students' motivation to learn can be influenced and bolstered by the availability of a quality learning facility and the effective implementation of the learning method.

Abstract

This research delves into the analysis of cohesion in the background of thesis research by students of the English Language Education Program at Semarang State University. Focusing on theory, literature, and descriptive qualitative methodology, the study reveals the essential role of cohesion in shaping the structure and meaning in academic writing. Findings highlight the use of various cohesion tools such as demonstrative references, substitution, ellipsis, conjunctions, lexical cohesion, and collocation, as well as their practical implications in forming a coherent narrative. Additionally, the research explores the variability of cohesion usage in various disciplines, providing important guidance for thesis writers to adjust their writing strategies according to norms in their respective fields of study. The results of this study contribute both theoretically and practically to the understanding of cohesion analysis, English language teaching, and the development of academic curricula.
