Abstract

Wacana muslim moderat merupakan upaya untuk mendialogkan antara Islam dan ke-Indonesiaan. Wacana ini diejawantahkan melalui dua gerakan yang mewakili dua organisasi besar Islam, yakni Islam Nusantara (NU) dan Islam Berkemajuan (Muhammadiyah). Penelitian ini berusaha untuk memetakan tiga wacana tersebut dalam sosial media, khususnya Twitter. Objek penelitian ini adalah tweet sejak 24 Februari – 26 Maret 2018 dengan kata kunci ‘Muslim Moderat’, ‘Islam Nusantara’, “Islam Berkemajuan’, dan ‘Islam Demokrasi’. Penelitian ini menggunakan empat tahap analisis, (1) estimasi jumlah netizen yang terlibat (2) tingkat sentimen, (3) keterhubungan topik (hashtag), (4) jejaring akun (name network). Hasilnya, wacana ‘muslim moderat’ belum memiliki kekuatan yang signifikan dalam mempengaruhi netizen di media sosial. Terutama ‘Islam Nusantara’ yang memiliki kecenderungan politis dan menuai sentimen negatif dari berbagai pihak. Kata kunci: Islam, Moderat, Twitter, Nusantara

Abstract

Abstract This study was conducted to map and elaborate how blasphemy was understood in social media, mainly Twitter. Beginning with the origins of the blasphemy law and some conflicts triggered by the law, this paper will explain the chronology of Ahok’s case and how it becomes popular within netizen. The questions of the study are how the Indonesian netizen in social media understand the blasphemy case of Ahok and how they try to construct discourse with it. The findings are interrelated the hashtags that led in five issues, (1) the action of defending Islam, (2) defending ulama, (3) Muslim leader, (4) national security, (5) imprisoning Ahok, (6) election of the regional head. The network of actors is exposing the complexity of reactions of netizen. Indonesian netizen in social media understands blasphemy in two ways, using religious discourse and political discourse. The first constructs blasphemy as a threat for religion and state security. The second argues the religious discourse by proving blasphemy as a tool for achieving political power. Various issues are tried to identify “blasphemy” that at the same time used to identify certain groups/actors as enemies or allies. In the process of identification, there emerges similar solidarity in interpreting the “blasphemy” based on a single interpretation of the religious source. However, there also emerges the discussion of how religious interpretation of blasphemy should not be used for political reason. [Studi ini bertujuan untuk memetakan dan menjelaskan bagaimana penistaan agama dipahami dalam media sosial, khususnya Twitter. Penelitian ini dimulai dengan menjelaskan hukum penistaan agama dan beberapa konflik yang terjadi di Indonesia terkait penistaan agama, yang kemudian secara khusus fokus pada kasus Gubernur DKI Basuki (Ahok) Tjahaya Purnama. Ahok dianggap telah memicu kemarahan Muslim Indonesia karena pernyataanya terkait ayat Al Maidah 51 di pertengahan September 2016. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana netizen Indonesia memahami penistaan agama dalam kasus Ahok dan bagaimana mereka membangun diskursus tentangnya. Dengan menggunakan analisis hashtag dalam Twitter,  terdapat beberapa enam isu yang paling mendominasi terkait diskursus kasus Ahok, yakni (1) aksi bela Islam, (2) bela Ulama, (3) kepemimpinan muslim, (4) keamanan nasional, (5) memenjarakan Ahok, (6) pemilihan kepala daerah. Jejaring aktor dalam diskursus ini menunjukkan kompleksitas reaksi netizen. Secara, terdapat dua cara dalam memahami penistaan agama, yakni dengan menggunakan diskursus agama dan diskursus politik. Diskursus yang pertama memahami penistaan agama sebagai ancaman terhadap agama dan negara. Sedangkan diskursus yang kedua memahami penistaan agama sebagai alat politik. Berbagai isu digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi penistaan agama, yang secara bersamaan juga digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi seseorang atau kelompok tertentu sebagai musuh atau sekutu. Dalam proses mengidentifikasi, muncul cara memahami bahwa penistaan agama terjadi karena rendahnya toleransi terhadap pemahaman berbeda atas penafsiran agama yang tunggal. Meskipun, terdapat juga diskusi tentang interpretasi sumber agama yang seharusnya tidak digunakan untuk kepentingan politik.]

Abstract

The issues of environmental degradation as well as global warming aren?t merely about environmentalism reaction?s activities, but also dealing with the demands of capitalism that keep asking the needs of human life. The need invites exploitation of natural resources as quickly and thoroughly at any time in various places. It has an impact on the declining quality of the environment and natural disasters to social conflict. The function of religion as a source of ethics and morals get the right and significant momentum in addressing the issues described above. Sufism, in particular, as a source of Islamic values ??and attitudes 'restraint' and see everything created by God as part of His power, so that gave birth to its moral responsibility to the environment and the universe. This paper will elaborate the rethinking of the doctrine of enviromental theologians followed by the mapping of the environmental movement of the Muslim?s environment in recent time. The main purpose of this paper is to encourage the main idea of ?eco-Sufism? through ?eco-pesantren?, so it ingrained the culture of being devout Muslims are Muslims that dedicated to the environment. Abstract

Veil is not only accepted as a religious obligation but also a medium of modernization and lifestyle transformation. In certain cases, it will be imposed toward becoming ideology through various regulatory and governmental institutions. Therefore, veil is perceived as goodness and person's identity. Social conditions have changed about the veil in Indonesia. It causes a natural understanding for policewomen to also wear jilbab as well as other Muslim women, without having to be restricted by certain state regulations, including police regulations. Unfortunately, the recognition process becomes increasingly complex discourse. This paper examines three online media: kompas.com, tempo.co, and republika.co.id in the issue of the political identity of wearing jilbab by a policewoman. Using critical discourse analysis, the article shows that each of the three media has character to present the information in the certain objectification theme, in which they have an important role in influencing the policy by constructing public awareness of identity for certain goals.Keywords:Media, Political Identity, and Public Awareness

Abstract

Abstract One of many annual traditional Javanese ceremony for celebrating the new year is Kirab Kiai Slamet. This ceremony was held in Surakarta, Central Java by one of greatest Javanese Kingdom, Keraton Surakarta Hadiningrat. A thousand visitors who have come from all over of java just to see this ceremony bring various motives. This paper will elaborate how the perspective of Javanese people interprets their attendance on Kirab Kiai Slamet? One of their motives is berkah, then how they perceive this concept of ‘ngalap berkah’? While berkah is one of the most prevalent religious practices in Indonesia, there are various meaning on it from a diverse group. In an effort to reveal the various interpretation of the concept of ‘berkah’, this paper offers an alternative perspective of the study of religion. Because the study of religion is more dominated by world religion paradigm that rigidly defines ‘religion’ as the structured form of religious tradition, an alternative perspective will be needed. After elaborating the experiment of Kirab Kiai Slamet and framed by some theories of religions, this paper will show how ‘indigenous religion paradigm’ have a positive contribution to the enriching of theories of religions in contemporary issues. Abstract

Pew Research Center reported that Islam is the fastest-growing religious group in the world compared to another religious group. The research mentioned that in 2050 Islam population will be 30% of world’s population while Christian will be silghtly more, 31% of world’s population therefore PEW Research Center predicted that in 2100 Islam population will lead religious group’s population even Christian. Terrorism news, extrimist and radical moslem group and Islamophobic culture almost in every western media platforms that rationally contradictory of reality that Islam is the fastest growing religious group. This research is to analyse terrorism issues in mass media and world’s Islam population. Research conducted in qualitative descriptive by literature research methode. The results of the research showed that despite of negative stereotypes in media who tend to correlated Islam and radical moslem group through several platforms such as movie and news, the decision to join Islam was uninfluenced. The stereotypes in news and movies about terrorism, radical moslem group, and extrimist in media could become an initial point for someone to dig information about Islam although it could not concluded as a pure motivation to join Islam.
