Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe speech communication by autistic students atthe SDLB Autism Laboratory of Universitas Negeri Malang. This study wasconducted on seven autistic students who had different types of autism. The data ofthis study are the elicitation of verbal data in the form of grammatical lingual units andlingual units of the interaction of oral speech of autistic students in the form of wordsand sentences accompanied by speech context. The results of the study show fourthings. First, the shift of speech between teachers and students does not occur wellbecause students are slow in responding to the stimulus from the teacher. Secondly,almost never occurs speech initiation from students. Third, there is inaccuracy andincompatibility of speech responses to stimulus speech. Fourth, the communication ofeach autistic student is different.

Abstract

The facts show that the culture of students' literacy, including the culture of writing scientific papers, is low. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the culture of student literacy. One of them is by utilizing blended learning strategy combined with content area literacy to improve the ability to write scientific papers. This blended learning strategy allows students to read, write, and develop critical thinking combined with the use of communication and information technology that is characteristic of activity in the current era of technology. A blended learning strategy is done by assigning students to write scientific papers, while the content area literacy is done by deepening the substantive aspects of the topic of written scientific papers. When the course of writing scientific papers took place, students follow lectures face to face and combined with learning face-to-face (virtual learning). This learning brings advantages such as giving students the opportunity to work and consult scientific papers written anytime and anywhere.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the deletion of syntactic function in sentences written by students of class III, IV, V, and VI elementary schools. This research data in the form of sentences in class III, IV, V, and VI elementary students. The data were collected from data sources in the form of essays from a number of third-grade students, IV, V, and VI elementary school target of this study. The results showed three things. First, there are sentences found in all classes, namely (1) the constituent sentence essentially present with the basic sentence patterns (a) S-P, (b) S-P-O, (c) S-P-Pel, and (d) S-P-Ket; and (2) a sentence whose constituents are essentially not present with a sentence type whose S constituent is not present. Second, there are sentences found in certain classes, ie (1) sentences whose constituent P is absent only found in class V, and (2) sentences whose S and P constituents are absent are found only in class IV, V, and VI. Thirdly, even though the sentence that his S-constituent is not present is found in all classes, the sentence pattern in each level is different.

Abstract

Character is one of the big problems faced by Indonesia because currently Indonesia is considered experiencing moral degradation. Therefore, cha- racter education should be applied in every level of education to improve the morale ofstudents. Character education needs to be done because (1) decline in family function, (2) the worsening morale of the young genera- tion, (3) the declining value of ethics. With this in mind, the application of character education to Indonesian subjects is very relevant and strate- gic to do because Indonesian is a compulsory course that must be followed by all students. Implementation of character education in Indonesian subjects is conducted in an integrated manner in the planning, imple- mentation, and assessment of learning. Character education is expected to shape the character of the students so that universities not only produce graduates who excel in terms of cognition, but also in terms of behavior.

Abstract

This study aims at describing the appropriate and correct use of prepositions in elementary school students’ composition. The design of this study is qualitative research combined with formal approaches for students in grade 3, 4, 5 and 6. The results of the study indicate that (1) there is a preposition used in all grades; (2) there are some prepositions used in certain grade; (3) some preposition functions are found in all grades; and (4) some preposition functions are found in certain grades.

Abstract

Al-Hikam Student Islamic Boarding School is founded by KH. A. Hasyim Muzadi in Malang City. This Islamic boarding school has been built with the aim of realizing the integrity of science and religion as a whole. With this educational model, it is hoped that there will be no scientific dichotomy so that religious beliefs have a scientific-rational basis and science is always protected by religious values. In the current era of the industrial revolution 4.0, the students who graduated from Islamic boarding schools are expected to be able to produce scientific works with their ability of religious knowledge. However, in reality, the abilities and interests of the students are very low. By writing scientific works based on the language corpus, the students can express their ideas and ideas in writing more easily. Therefore, this service is carried out to prepare students to be able to write scientific papers properly and correctly. Training is not enough, there should be an assistance so that the students get direct experience on how to write scientific papers. Selected articles are recommended for submission to national or international journals

Abstract

Permasalahan utama mitra pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah sulitnya pemenuhan air bersih untuk kebutuhan sehari-hari masyarakat. Padahal, di desa tersebut sebenarnya terdapat beberapa sumber air yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat. Kesulitan dalam memenuhi air bersih untuk kebutuhan sehari-hari masyarakat tersebut disebabkan oleh (1) rendahnya penguasaan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi masyarakat sehingga mereka belum menemukan solusi yang efektif, efisien, murah, dan berkelanjutan untuk mengalirkan air; (2) letak sumber air yang berada di bawah perkampungan warga sehingga warga kesulitan untuk mengalirkan air dari tempat yang rendah ke tempat yang lebih tinggi; dan (3) rendahnya tingkat ekonomi masyarakat sehingga mereka tidak memiliki dana yang cukup untuk mengadakan alat teknologi untuk mengalirkan air. Selain itu, masalah yang dihadapi mitra adalah kurang maksimalnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pelestarian lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan membantu menyediakan air bersih dengan menggunakan pompa hidram dan memberikan literasi hijau kepada masyarakat untuk memaksimalkan kesadaran melestarikan lingkungan. Metode yang dilakukan adalah sosialisasi, pembuatan alat dan bahan, pendamingan, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa pompa hidram efektif digunakan untuk mengalirkan air di pedesaan yang sumber airnya berada jauh di bawah lokasi perkampungan warga. Selain itu, pada kegiatan ini dilakukan pula untuk memberikan literasi hijau kepada masyarakat sehingga kelestarian sumber air dapat terjaga

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to describe the syntactic errors in the response text of class IX B SMPN 12 Malang. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with three sub activities, namely (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) conclusion drawing. The results of the data analysis on the syntactic errors found in the response text of class IX B SMPN 12 Malang took the form of (1) errors at the phrasal level and (2) sentences. Errors at the phrasal level include (1) incorrect use of prepositions, (2) excessive use of elements, (3) inappropriate use of elements, (4) improper wording, and (5) double pluralization. Syntactic errors at the sentence level include (1) ambiguous sentences, (2) illogical sentences, (3) inappropriate use of conjunctions, (4) excessive use of conjunctions, (5) omission of conjunctions, (6) zero-subject sentences, (7) unpredicated sentences, (8) use of prepositions in transitive verbs, (9) use of unnecessary interrogative words, and (10) incomplete sentences. Keywords: language errors, syntax errors, response text Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kesalahan sintaksis dalam teks tanggapan kelas IX B SMPN 12 Malang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman dengan tiga alur kegiatan, yaitu (1) reduksi data, (2) penyajian data, dan (3) penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian kesalahan sintaksis pada teks tanggapan kelas IX B SMPN 12 Malang meliputi (1) kesalahan pada tataran frasa, dan (2) kalimat. Kesalahan pada tataran frasa meliputi (1) kesalahan penggunaan preposisi, (2) penggunaan unsur yang berlebihan, (3) penggunaan unsur yang tidak tepat, (4) susunan kata yang tidak tepat, dan (5) penjamakan ganda. Kesalahan sintaksis pada tataran kalimat meliputi (1) kalimat rancu, (2) kalimat tidak logis, (3) penggunaan konjungsi yang tidak tepat, (4) penggunaan konjungsi yang berlebihan, (5) penghilangan konjungsi, (6) kalimat tidak bersubjek, (7) kalimat tidak berpredikat, (8) penggunaan preposisi pada verba transitif, (9) penggunaan kata tanya tidak perlu, dan (10) kalimat tidak lengkap. Abstract

Abstract: This research is led by the current Covid-19 pandemic situation, which has resulted in changes in the education system so that it requires students to study at home or use an online learning system. Many students use the Ruangguru online tutoring application to help them understand the subject matter at school. This study aims to describe (1) the form of sentence, (2) types of illocutionary speech acts, (3) the function of illocutionary speech acts, and (4) teacher’s speech act strategies. The type of research in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques in this study are listening techniques and note-taking techniques. Data analysis techniques in this study include data reduction, data presentation, and inference. The findings revealed 1) the sentence form are declarative, interrogative, and imperative, 2) the types of illocutionary speech acts are assertive, directive, expressive, and commissive, 3) the function of illocutionary speech acts is in the form of notifying, claiming, stating, speculating, concluding, showing, demanding, mentioning, opposing, ordering, inviting, asking, advising, congratulating, complaining, greeting, apologizing, and promising, 4) the speech act strategies found are direct speech act strategies and indirect. Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh situasi pandemi Covid-19 saat ini yang mengakibatkan perubahan sistem pendidikan sehingga mengharuskan siswa untuk belajar di rumah atau menggunakan sistem pembelajaran daring. Siswa banyak menggunakan aplikasi bimbingan belajar daring Ruangguru untuk membantu memahami materi pelajaran di sekolah. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk menjabarkan (1) bentuk kalimat, (2) jenis tindak tutur ilokusi, (3) fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi, dan (4) strategi tindak tutur guru. Jenis penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik simak dan teknik catat. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penyimpulan. Hasil analisis data penelitian ini adalah 1) bentuk kalimat berupa deklaratif, interogatif, dan imperative, 2) jenis tindak tutur ilokusi berupa asertif, direktif, ekspresif, dan komisif, 3) fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi berupa fungsi memberitahukan, mengeklaim, menyatakan, berspekulasi, menyimpulkan, menunjukkan, menyebutkan, menentang, menyuruh, mengajak, meminta, menasihati, memuji, memberi selamat, mengeluh, menyapa, meminta maaf, dan berjanji. Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the cohesion markers used in news discourse written by eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Jiwan. Because the data generated in this study is not in the form of numerical data, but word descriptions and is concerned with language forms, it uses a qualitative approach. This type of research includes discourse analysis research. This study collected the data from students' assignments in the form of news discourses made by graders of SMP Negeri 2 Jiwan which meet the indicators of essay selection. The data elicited are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and clitics that indicate the use of cohesion markers from news discourse written by the student participants. As the results of the study, the use of grammatical cohesion markers and the use of lexical cohesion markers in students' news discourse are discovered. The results of the study can be used for other related research and can be used as a reference for teachers to improve students' mastery of cohesion markers. Keywords: discourse, cohesion, student essay Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemarkah kohesi yang digunakan dalam wacana berita karangan siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Jiwan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, hal ini berkaitan dengan data yang dihasilkan berupa deskripsi kata-kata atau bersangkutan dengan bentuk bahasa, tidak berupa data angka. Jenis penelitian termasuk penelitian analisis wacana. Penelitian ini menggunakan sumber data dari tugas siswa berupa wacana berita karangan siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Jiwan yang memenuhi indikator pemilihan karangan. Dari sumber data yang didapatkan, diambil data berupa kata, frasa, klausa, dan klitika yang menunjukkan penggunaan pemarkah kohesi dari wacana berita karangan siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Jiwan. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan adanya penggunaan pemarkah kohesi gramatikal dan penggunaan pemarkah kohesi leksikal dalam wacana berita karangan siswa. Hasil penelitian dapat digunakan untuk penelitian terkait lainnya dan dapat dijadikan acuan guru untuk meningkatkan penguasaan siswa terhadap pemarkah kohesi.
