Abstract

This study examines the existence of the mancak tradition in wedding ceremonies on Sepanjang Island, Sapeken District. Mancak , a traditional martial art, holds a significant place in local customs and is considered essential during wedding rituals. It is believed that performing mancak during a wedding brings blessings and good fortune to the newlyweds. The purpose of this research is to explore the cultural values embedded in the mancak tradition, its role in education and cultural identity, and the factors contributing to its preservation among the younger generation. Using a descriptive and ethnographic approach, data were collected through direct interviews and field observations. The findings reveal that despite modern influences, the mancak tradition continues to thrive due to the strong belief system of the community and its transmission through generations. The tradition serves not only as a form of entertainment but also as a medium for instilling cultural pride and historical awareness. Local communities actively preserve mancak by integrating it into wedding ceremonies and encouraging youth participation through informal education and community-based cultural programs.

Abstract

The tradition of wedding offerings on Kangean Island, Sumenep, Madura reflects the complex dynamics of gender relations. This study aims to reveal the representation of patriarchy and forms of female resistance in this tradition, as well as its implications for gender education in society. The approach used is feminist ethnography, with data collection methods including participatory observation and in-depth interviews. The research findings indicate that the sawer tradition represents male dominance through economic and symbolic control, yet simultaneously serves as a space for women to employ various resistance strategies, such as forming social networks and managing financial independence. Although controversial for its portrayal of women as objects of entertainment, this tradition also opens opportunities for critical reflection in gender education. This study makes an important contribution to understanding local cultural practices that can be utilized as teaching materials in developing gender awareness in Madurese society.

Abstract

Pernikahan dini (nikah usia muda) yang yang terjadi di kalangan perempuan, terutama di wilayah pelosok, merupakan bukti tentang lemahnya posisi perempuan dalam struktur keluarga di kalangan masyarakat lokal pedesaan. Akibatnya, keputusan dalam melakukan pernikahan tidak lagi menjadi hak perempuan, melainkan berada di bawah kendali keluarga yang dalam hal ini orang tua laki-laki. Padahal, peroalan pernikahan dini sebenarnya tidak hanya sekedar menggambarkan tentang sisi lemah kaum perempuan, melainkan juga berpengaruh terhadap kondisi kesehatan reproduksi perempuan. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian field research (penelitian lapangan) dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Sementara proses pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan beberapa metode, yaitu metode wawancara mendalam (indepth interview), observasi, dan dokumentasi. Analisis atas data dilakukan dengan teknik analisis isi (content analisys).Perempuan yang memiliki pengalaman menikah dalam usia muda (nikah dini) sebenarnya akibat hegemoni dan dominasi peran orang tua akibat sistem budaya patriakhi yang kuat. Sistem ini menjadi dasar pelemahan atas nasib kaum perempuan, salah satunya tidak bisa memilih sendiri dalam menentukan jalan hidup rumah tangganya, karena hak memilih jodoh berada di tangan orang tuanya. Konstruksi budaya patriarkhi telah memperkuat praktek pernikahan dini di tengah-tengah masyarakat, sehingga berdampak negatif terhadap masa depan anak perempuan. Cara pandang tersebut, masih menguat di tengah-tengah masyarakat pedesaan yang berada di pelosok dengan tingkat kesadaran yang notabene lemah terhadap kesetaraan dan keadilan gender. Abstract

Seiring perjalanan waktu, Kabupaten Sumenep mulai berbenah dalam berbagai bidang. Di tengah gempuran era disrupsi seperti ini, beberapa sektor yang perlu dikuatkan adalah gender; kesehatan; dan literasi. Pola superioritas-inferioritas dalam urusan kerja masih langgeng dilakukan. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan viralnya kasus pemecatan seorang pekerja rumah tangga hanya gegara menikmati waktu senggang dengan duduk di kursi meja makan pada tahun 2018 silam. Fakta lainnya juga tak kalah mencengangkan tentang nasib anak-anak perempuan Indonesia. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan oleh organisasi PBB yang berfokus pada pelindungan hak anak atau yang biasa disebut UNICEF (United Nation Children Fund), satu dari enam anak perempuan Indonesia atau sejumlah 340.000 anak ‘dipaksa’ menikah sebelum usia delapan belas tahun. Masih terasa hangat juga di dalam ingat berita tentang seorang pemuda yang ditemukan tewas akibat bunuh diri di sebuah apartemen yang berlokasi di Jakarta Barat pada akhir tahun 2021 lalu. Setelah ditelusuri lebih jauh, penyebab tindak bunuh diri tersebut adalah masalah keluarga. Masalah lainnya adalah penguatan budaya. Perpustakaan sebagai tempat yang mengelola dokumen masa lalu untuk menjanjikan masa depan yang penuh dengan harapan, sehingga perpustakaan sangat layak disebut sebagai pusat budaya dan simbol peradaban bangsa. Tulisan ini akan membahas tentang upaya kesejahteraan sosial untuk masyarakat Sumenep.

Abstract

Poetry is an expression of words with feelings conveyed by the poet, the meaning of each of these words will be found after dealing directly with the reader. So that in this case it is necessary to have a study to reveal the true meaning of each word contained in the poem, which is called the study of hermeneutics. The purpose of this research is to reveal the meaning contained in the Story 23rd poetry anthology by Sanggar Lentera dan Kawan-kawan. The approach used to study this research was hermeneutical studies, the source of the data in this study was Story 23rd anthology of joint poetry by Sanggar lentera and friends, of the many poems collected in the anthology, the researchers took 4 poems to be used as study material in the study. This. The results of this study indicate that from the poems entitled "Pagi Selamat Tidur" and "Rasa dalam Botol", the two poems contain the intention of having a different life that must be lived by the community due to the presence of the covid-19 virus, things that are not usually done it is imperative for them to do it for their own safety. As for the poems entitled "Negeri Kantong Ajaib" and "Politik Korona", the two poems imply that the policies implemented by the government in this country are bad, to the point where the country's economy is damaged due to the Covid-19 virus. Both of these poems contain the intention that there is a different life that must be lived by the community as a result of the Covid-19 virus, things that are not usually done are a must for them to do for their own safety. As for the poems entitled "Negeri Kantong Ajaib and Politik Korona", the two poems imply that the policies implemented by the government in this country are bad, to the point where the country's economy is damaged due to the Covid-19 virus.
