Abstract

ABSTRACT Cocoa pood sucker (Helopeltis theivora Wat.) pests attack the cocoa primordial fruit and shoot. These pests cause damage by piercing and sucking fluids fruit and young shoot. The attack led to the death of the fruit or cause the formation of abnormal fruit, consequently the yield and quality of cocoa beans decreased and the small size. This research aim to determine the effect of bark extract Angsana against exploiters cocoa pood sucker  feed consumption. This research used Completely Randomized Design ( CRD ) with 4 treatments and 6 replications . Given the control treatment (0 %), 2.5 %, 5 %, and 7.5 %. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance test then further by LSD test. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Zoology Department of Biology Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science UNP, at July-August 2013. The result showed concentration of 2.5 % activity of searching H. theivora takes the fastest time ( 32 minutes 65 seconds ) than other treatments. Grounding for the activity found in controls fastest time 8 minutes 89 seconds, while the 7.5 % treatment gathering activity is the fastest time 12 minutes 48 seconds. On feed intake, angsana bark extract in the treatment with a concentration of 7.5 % shows the average number of the lowest feed intake of 0.67 grams . It can be concluded that the angsana bark extract at a concentration of 5 % can be used as an antifeedant against H. theivora.

Abstract

ABSTRACTPetrogenol is attractant that has light  yellow solution form. It’s active ingredient is methyl eugenol, a compound of insect pheromones to influence the contra sex for mating,      colonize and eating and beside fruit aroma is able to influence the fruit flies. However the information about the combination of petrogenol and Averrhoa carambola extract on feeding strategy of fruit flies Bactrocera dorsalis is still limited. Based on these problem so have to be made the research about the combination petrogenol influence and Starfruit extract ( Averrhoa carambola L. ) on feeding strategy of fruit flies Bactrocera dorsalis Hend. This research is  experimental research used Y tube method, with 10 treatment pairs. The research had been done  from June to August  in the Laboratory of Zoology Department of Biology, State University of Padang. Feeding strategy observed included searching, grounding and gathering. The observational dates can be analyzed by using Chi - square ( X² ) and compared them with a significance level of 5%. The research result was showed that fastest time of 792.62 seconds on searching is in combination treatment and petrogenol starfruit extract, grounding activities had longest time was 450.85 seconds on petrogenol, and gathering activities had longest time 617.45 seconds on treatment starfruit extracts. X² analysis result for each parameter of  feeding strategy of fruitflies attitude were found there were significant differences between extracts Averrhoa carambola, extract Averrhoa carambola combination and petrogenol  with petrogenol. It can be concluded that the combination of Averrhoa carambola extract and petrogenol is the best attractant for  feeding strategy of fruit flies activities Bactrocera dorsalis in terms of searching, while the petrogenol is the best attractant in terms of grounding and star fruit extract in terms of gathering is the best attractant.

Abstract

ABSTRACT            Ladybird is refers to plant disease found in solanaceae it was able to make big population in short time and damaged the plant for all growing phase. This research purposes to know the effect of Angsana bark Exstract toward feeding stategy of ladybird. This research was using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 4 treatment and 10 replication. The treatment which gave that was control, the treatment with 2,5 %, 5 %, and 7,5 % concentrated. The data was analyzed by ANOVA and continued by BNT. This research was done in Zoologi Laboratorium of Biologi Department UNP at August 2013. The result of analysis was found that in treatment 2,5 % searching activity koksi of bumblebee needed the fast time was compared with onthers, of grounding activity was found in control for fastest time meanwhile in gathering activity treatment with 5 % concentrated was more effective to bloked the concumn of koksi bumblebee. It ean be conwded that the effect of Angsana Skin Extract 5 % can use as Antifidant and Atractan.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Well water used residents to still questionable quality as the distanced between saptic tanks, livestock barns, wells river with less than 10 maters and the well being around the environment that a lot of junk. Well water is very susceptible to bacterial contamination and an bacterial contamination and an issue that needs attention because residents use well water as a source of drinking water. Bacterial contamination can cause various diseases, one if which diare. According   to   the   Keputusan   Menteri   Kesehatan   (KepMenKes)   RI   No.492/Menkes/PER/IV/2010 about drinking water quality requirements have value MPN E. coli sel/100 mL. This study aims to determine the water quality of wells in  Kelurahan  Batuang Taba Nan  XX Kecamatan  Lubuk  Begalung of Padang States  from  the  aspects  of  baketriologis.  This  study  conducted  from  July  to August 2013 held the Laboratory of Basic Biology STKIP PGRI West Sumatera. This research is descriptive study sampling is Proposive Sampling of 8 wells based on the distance of less than 10 maters of pollution sources. This study uses the   Most   Probable   Number   (NPM)   using   two-stage   trial   the   prediction (Presumtive Test) and test or certainty (Confirmative Test) with a combination of3:3:3. Based on the research conducted showed that the well water contaminatedwith Escherichia coli positive citizens with amounts ranging from 1100 to >2400 sel/100 mL, the water category, including poor water quality, does not meet clean water standards and is not suitable for consumption as drinking water.

ABSTRACT   This research is a research development, and the final outcome of this research is a product handout.  Handout  is  a  education  media  that  contains  of  learning  materials  which  arranged  in  a systematic, operasional and directed. Beside it that also comes with the picture completed with concept mapping. By using biology student worksheets it will facilitate students in understanding the material. This picture   handout with completed with concept   mapping facilitate students in understanding the theory. This research has four stages, namely definition, design, development and dessiminate . Based on the result obtained, it can be concluded that the handout has developed valid and practical, therefore handout can already be used at the time of learning.Keyword :

Abstract

ABSTRACT Quill eggs are food materials that have many potential because it is very helpful to supple nutrition for societies, especially to supple animals protein. One way of conservations is used salting preservation because it can hamper and kills bacteria in eggs. Due to have been done the research to know the influence of Salt Concentration on protein content and Organoleptic Quality Salted Quail Eggs. This research was conducted at the Regional Sicincin, Pariaman at September 2013 and determines the protein content of  salted  quail eggs done  in  the Laboratory of  Integrated  Koperties X Padang.  The purpose of this research is to know the influence of salt concentration on protein content and organoleptic quality in salted quail eggs. This research used a completely randomize design (RAL) with 5 treatments and 5 replications. Such treatment A (without salt), B (salt 2%), C (salt 4%) and E (salt 8%) were performed for three days. The result shows that the treatment with various concentrations 8% higher protein content compared to other salt concentration. In the organoleptic test with different concentrations of salt texture and aroma values of salt quails eggs obtained results were not significant. Value salty scent of quail’s eggs is highest at 8% concentration of salt and salt quail’s eggs texture values are highest in concentration 2%, while the value of the flavor and color of the salt quail eggs are highly significant. Color values salt quail eggs contained the highest concentration of salt in 8% and the value of quail eggs taste salty at the highest salt concentration 4%.
