Abstract

Initiation of mostly the cattle farmer groups in the Village of Gelangsar, the Sub-district of Gunung Sari Sub-district, District of West Lombok was started from the joint practices of keeping their cattle safe in a certain location through Kandang Kolektif. Up to currently, they have an understanding that 'kandang kolektif' is only a keeping place technically for cattle rather than as an institutional for farmers. Indeed, kandang kolektif can be developed as an institutional model to mobilize potentials of cattle-farmers in improving their business productivity. This community service aims to increase knowledge and understanding of cattle farmers, especially Kelompok Muda Mandiri (Independent Young Group) on kandang kolektif-based institutional management including economic analysis of cattle farming through implementation of multiple methods as follows: field observations, in-depth interviews, discussions, and practice. The stages of activities that have been carried out for 12 weeks (3 months) are: analysis of ground problems by observations and interviews with target cattle-farmers; design of problem solving methods; in-class training; technical assistance; and evaluation. The deliverable-results of this community service are: the strengthening of cooperative ties among cattle-farmers; increasing knowledge of cattle-farmers on institutional benefits; they understood the basic concepts of cost-income and was able to calculate the profit-loss of their cattle farming.

Abstract

The research is entitled " Social Construction of Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone ". Sengkol Village is one of the disaster-prone villages, especially in the hamlets of Gerupuk 1, Gerupuk 2, Ebangah which is located in the coastal area. The Village Disaster Preparedness Team (TSBD) was formed as a communitybased disaster risk reduction. This study uses the social construction theory of Peter L. Berger and Luckmann. This research uses a qualitative case study method. Research informants from the management of the Village Disaster Preparedness Team, the CONSEPSI field staff of the Caritas Germany program, and the village head of Sengkol, Central Lombok. Data collection techniques used structured interview techniques, field observations, and documentation results. The data analysis technique used is an interactive model from Milles and Habberman in three (3) ways, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity technique uses extended observations and triangulation methods to check the level of confidence. The results showed that based on the results of the analysis using social construction theory, Berger and Luckman Social construction are formed through 3 (three) dialectical processes, namely, first, externalization is reflected in the existence of local wisdom in the tsunami early warning system with the appearance of Layur fish on the beach, indicating that a disaster will occur. Second, the objectification process, through the rules for implementing disaster management and philosophical values so that it successfully legitimizes the existence of community-based disaster risk reduction. Third, the internalization process through primary socialization using the TSBD institution to mobilize the community in community-based disaster risk reduction. This becomes the capital in reducing disaster risk in Sengkol Village.

Abstract

Initially, goat farmers in the village of Segala Anyar, sub-district of Pujut, district of Central raised goats individually as in the general model of goat farming in rural areas. Then, the goat has been kept in groups since the government introduced the Peranakan Ettawa (PE) goat with a dual purpose in 2012. However, the progression of goat-farmers groups tends to be slow and their existence in supporting goat productivity improvement is less effective. This community service aims to provide knowledge and understanding to goat-farmer groups regarding: organizational development, collaboration, leadership, and communication. In addition, this activity is also directed to provide assistance in designing a model for developing institutional management of local potential livestock resources. It is expected that targeted-goat farmers will have knowledge and understanding about key aspects in strengthening group capacity towards optimizing institutional roles. Problem-solving was identified by a participatory approach by involving goat farmers intensively, especially recognizing their potential and the problems encountered. The extension methods that have been implemented are lectures, interactive-constructive discussions, and preparation of a 'potential-problem analysis' matrix. After in-class, group monitoring and assistance through field visits were carried out routinely and periodically. The results of this community service are goat farmers gain additional knowledge and understanding about important aspects in order to increase the capacity of their group as well as they already have routine activities, such as regular meetings, strengthening awig-awig, and cooperation with other parties (especially the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, University of Mataram) to strengthen their group.

Abstract

Community service activities aim to socialize kitchen organic waste management that can be done at the household level. This socialization activity was carried out at the request of a village youth leader who hoped to solve the problem of the accumulation of vegetable and fruit waste in Sembalun Timba Gading Village. The targets of community service activities are youth leaders, community leaders, and village officials. The socialization of organic waste management begins with dissemination of sorting kitchen organic waste (s.o.d) and continues with socialization on processing s.o.d. using the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot. This processing technology will solve the problem of household waste and unsold vegetable and fruit waste and increase people's income by producing products in the form of commercial maggot and used maggot (kasgot). Maggot products can be used as poultry and fish feed, while cassava can be used as organic fertilizer for rice fields, plantations and horticultural crops. The socialization activity was enthusiastically attended by village administrators and youth of Sembalun Timba Galih Village (about 25 people). Service participants will follow up on this activity by making a proposal for a training program for organic waste processing using BSF maggot in order to create environmental cleanliness in tourist areas such as Sembalun Timba Gading Village. Community service activities resulted in an increase in knowledge, attitudes, and enthusiasm for the administrators and youth of Sembalun Timba Gading Village in solving waste problems and committed to working together synergistically with academics to carry out organic waste management training in the next Sembalun Timba Gading Village.

Abstract

The MSME group in Setiling Village is in Central Lombok Regency. This group focuses on the processing and marketing of traditional herbal products, chayote chips, ant sugar and fern chips. So far, MSMEs in Setiling Village are still carrying out marketing activities in a conventional way targeting community buyers in the village. As a result, these marketing activities have not been optimal and have not been supported by the use of technology regarding the importance of producing good product photos. This service aims to improve marketing strategies for MSMEs in Setiling Village, Central Lombok Regency through product photo training. This product photo activity was carried out using the participant's smartphone. The main target in this activity is MSME actors who have received training and assistance in 2022. The method used in this community service activity is interactive participatory. Service is divided into three stages, namely planning and preparation, implementation and evaluation. Participants in the service activity consisted of 14 MSME actors and three students. At the beginning of the activity, participants were given material regarding the importance of product photos in marketing. Participants were also given an understanding of product photography techniques and product photo examples as a reference. After the material delivery activity, the participants then directly practiced the knowledge gained using their smartphones. During practical activities participants can use the property brought by the service team. Based on the activities that have been carried out, participants already have an understanding of product photo techniques and are able to produce product photos using their smartphone. Thus, there was an increase in participants' understanding of marketing strategies. Another result is that participants managed to upload product photos to their e-commerce accounts.
