Abstract

Quinolones are heterocyclic compounds that are important in medicine and materials for DSSCs or OLEDs. One thing that is rarely studied is the ability to detect metal ions. Diazo groups have an important role in forming complexes with metal ions. This research aims to obtain initial information regarding the metal detection capabilities of diazo quinolinone compounds. The compound 7-[(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)diazenyl]-4-methyl-2-quinolinone is the test target. Tests were carried out with various metal ions in MeOH. Next, the wavelength of the complex was determined using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of complex analysis of Compound 2 with various metal ions show the potential to be an indication of the presence of metal ions.

Abstract

This research is intended to examine Attitude Towards Chemistry and student learning outcomes from the implementation of Discovery Learning model in Chemistry learning at Rex Mundi Catholic High School Manado. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of discovery learning model towards ATC and students' learning outcomes in chemistry learning. This research used pre-experiment research design, namely One group pretest-posttest. The research was conducted at Rex Mundi Catholic High School Manado in class X with a sample size of 30 students. Data collection was done by using ATC questionnaire and multiple choice test instrument and data analysis was done by using normality test as prerequisite test, t-test, and n-gain score. The results of data analysis for hypothesis testing showed a significant difference in ATC and student learning outcomes before and after learning with the discovery learning model. Based on statistical testing, the results of hypothesis testing of ATC and student chemistry learning outcomes were obtained, namely tcalculate, ATC =156.10 > ttable=1.699 Sig value. 0.00 and tcalculate,Posttest =63.96 > t table=1.699 Sig value. 0,00. So that from hypothesis testing it can be concluded that there are differences in ATC and student chemistry learning outcomes before and after chemistry teaching with the discovery learning model. The results of data analysis for the n-gain test showed that the average n-gain value of ATC was 61.82% and the n-gain of learning outcomes was 73.5%, including in the moderately effective category. So it can be stated that the implementation of the discovery learning model is effective.

Abstract

Effective learning requires an active, creative and fun approach, and provides space for students to channel their potential according to their interests and talents. In the context of chemistry education, which involves abstract concepts such as changes in matter at the atomic or molecular level, learning strategies are needed that support in-depth understanding. One relevant approach is the guided inquiry model, which provides direction to students to develop their analytical skills. This research aims to develop an interactive Student Worksheet (LKPD) based on guided inquiry on chemical reaction equations to improve the learning outcomes of class X SMA Negeri 1 Bolaang. Development was carried out using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model with validation by material and media experts, as well as product trials. Data collected includes product feasibility validation, student learning outcomes, and input from validators. The research results show that guided inquiry-based LKPD is valid, practical and effective for use as a learning medium. This product helps students not only understand concepts but also carry out scientific proofs, thereby improving critical thinking skills. The benefits of this research include contributions for students, teachers and researchers in developing innovative and interactive learning media in the field of chemistry education.

Abstract

This study aims to test the feasibility of Android-based learning media using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on elemental chemistry material at Karitas Tomohon Catholic High School. This research is motivated by the lack of use of technology as a learning media in schools making students less interested in learning that is still monotonous (conventional) and less interesting. The research method used is research and development (R&D) with reference to the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subjects of this research were chemistry teachers and students of class XII, especially class XII-A. Validation was conducted by media experts and material experts to ensure the feasibility and quality of the application. The results showed that the android-based learning media developed was very feasible with a percentage of 80% from media experts and 92% from material experts. The subject teacher's response gave a feasibility level with a percentage of 100% and student responses with a percentage of 87.78% so that it was declared very feasible as a learning media. The conclusion of this research is that android-based learning media with PBL model is effectively used in learning Chemistry Elements in high school. This media can be an innovative solution in utilizing technology to improve the quality of education.

Abstract

This study quantified and compared the ascorbic acid content in green and red bird's eye chili (Capsicum frutescens) using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The method was optimized by determining the maximum wavelength of ascorbic acid in an acid-stabilized solution, found to be 231 nm. A calibration curve was constructed with standard solutions (25-100 ppm), yielding a linear equation y = 0.0514x + 0.6032 (R² = 0.9361). Sample extracts were prepared and analysed in triplicate at this wavelength. The results demonstrated a significant difference in ascorbic acid concentration between the two varieties. The red chili exhibited a higher concentration of 34.39 ppm in the measured solution, corresponding to 0.90% (b/b) of the fresh weight. In contrast, the green chili contained 23.95 ppm (0.60% b/b). This indicates a 50% higher ascorbic acid content in the mature red fruit. The study concludes that ripening significantly enhances the vitamin C content in bird's eye chili, and the red variety is a nutritionally superior source. The validated method proved effective for the quantitative analysis of ascorbic acid in complex food matrices.
