Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the effect of humic acid, N, P, and K fertilizer and the interaction of the two treatments on the growth and production of sweet corn. The field experiment was carried out on August 02 – October 12, 2021 in Tembalang Sub-district, Semarang City and at the Ecology and Plant Production Laboratory, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Diponegoro University, Semarang (7o03’17” S dan 110o26’28” E). The factorial experiment with a 3 x 3 randomized block design with 3 replications was used in the study. The first factor was consisted of 20, 25, and 30 kg of humic acid/ha, respectively for M1, M2 and M3.The second factor was the dose of fertilizer N, P, and K which consisted of 100%, 75%; and 50% of the recommended dose, for P1, P2 and P3 respectively.The 100% of recommended dose was200 kg N/ha, 154 kg P2O5/ha, 125 kg K2O/ha. Parameters observed consisted of plant height, number of leaves, number of cobs, and weight of cobs. The data obtained were analyzed by using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan's test at 5% was used for further analysis. The results showed that the dose of humic acid had a significant effect on the parameters of plant height and number of leaves.  Keywords: dose, humic acid, sweet corn

Abstract

This study was aimed to examine the effect of nitrogen-based fertilizers based on coffee grounds and types of planting media on the growth and yield of mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.). The research was carried out on October 03, 2021 – March 20, 2022, at the Green House and at the Ecology and Plant Production Laboratory, Faculty of Animal and Agricultual Sciences, Diponegoro University, Semarang. The factorial experiment with a 4 x 3 completely randomized design with 3 replication was used in the study. The first factor (P) consist of 4 levels of nitrogen dose based on coffee grounds organic fertilizer (CGOF) , namely P0 = control, P1 = 150 kg N/ha equivalent to 10,5 tons CGOF/ha, P2 = 170 kg N/ha equivalent to 11,9 tons CGOF/ha and P3 = 190 kg N/ha equivalent to 13,3 tons CGOF/ha. The second factor (M) consists of several kinds of planting media, namely M1 = soil, M2 = soil + husk charcoal (3:1) and M3 = soil + cocopeat (3:1). The recommended dose of nitrogen used in the study was 170 kg N/ha. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, plant dry weight, harvest index and root crown ratio. The data obtained were tested using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the results that significantly affected the observed parameters were then further tested using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the level 5%.Keywords: dose, nitrogen, coffee grounds, mustard greens.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of nitrogen doses based on water hyacinth compost and the fermentation time on the growth and production of pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.). The research was carried out from March 24 to May 29, 2021 at the Greenhouse, Ecology and Plant Production Laboratory, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences. A 5 x 3 factorial experiment based on a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 replications was used in this study. The first factor was the dose of nitrogen-based water hyacinth compost (WHC) 0 kg N/ha, K0; 69 kg N/ha equivalent to 4.1 tons of WHC/ha, K1; 138 kg N/ha equivalent to 8.2 tons of WHC/ha, K2; 207 kg N/ ha is equivalent to 12.3 tons of WHC/ha, K3; and 276 kg N/ha is equivalent to 16.4 tons of WHC/ha, K4. The second factor was the fermentation time during the composting process which consists of 21, 28 and 35 days, respectively. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, chlorophyll content, shoot and root fresh weight, harvest index. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and tested further using Duncan's test at 5% level. Based on the research results, it may be concluded that the best performance of pakcoy was achieved at a WHC-based nitrogen dose of 276 kgN/ha and at 35 days. Keywords : nitrogen dose, ripening time, pakcoy
