Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between teacher motivation and student learning behavior at MI Ar-Roudloh, Indonesia. The decline in student participation in learning is suspected to be related to variations in teacher motivation. Using a quantitative method with an ex post facto correlational design, the study involved 20 teachers and 40 students as samples. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation of student learning outcomes, then analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed a positive and significant effect of teacher motivation on student learning activities (r = 0.712, p < 0.05). These findings support Self-Determination Theory (SDT), which emphasizes the role of intrinsic teacher motivation in creating a learning environment that fosters student engagement. Practically, these results can serve as a basis for madrasahs to enhance teacher motivation to improve the quality of learning.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the Qiraati method in early childhood Qur'anic learning through the lens of community perceptions and power relations at TPQ Manisqu, Desa Wonojati. The research addresses two main questions: the construction of community perceptions regarding the method's effectiveness and how these perceptions mediate the relationship between implementation and observed learning outcomes, as well as the power relations among three key actors in defining and negotiating the meaning of success. A qualitative case study design was employed, with data collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Participants included the head of TPQ, three teachers (ustadz/ustadah), ten parents, and early childhood students, selected through purposive and snowball sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis facilitated by NVivo 12 Pro software, with findings validated through source and method triangulation, member checking, and audit trail procedures. The findings reveal four primary themes: holistic perception of effectiveness encompassing cognitive, affective, behavioral, and spiritual dimensions; behavioral transformation as evidence of success; teacher competence as a mediating factor; and parental involvement as a critical determinant. The power relations analysis identifies the interplay of institutional authority, pedagogical expertise, and parental influence in coconstructing definitions of success. This study contributes theoretically by extending the literature on Qur'anic pedagogy through a sociocultural and relational lens, and practically by providing guidance for educators, institutional leaders, and policymakers in enhancing early childhood Qur'anic education. Further research across diverse contexts and employing mixed-methods approaches is recommended to deepen understanding of Qur'anic learning effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the construction of students’ social empathy meaning through the habituation of ta’awun (mutual cooperation) values based on QS Al-Maidah verse 2 in Jumat Berkah activities. The research addresses the issue of strengthening students’ social character through religious-based educational practices, particularly how Islamic values are understood, internalized, and transformed into empathetic social behavior. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design to examine the phenomenon within its natural educational context. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving students, teachers, and school representatives selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis supported by NVivo to identify patterns, categories, and emerging themes from the research data. The findings reveal three main themes. First, the internalization of ta’awun values occurs through a process of understanding, experiencing, and practicing mutual assistance, where students construct the meaning of helping others as part of their religious and social responsibility. Second, the habituation of Jumat Berkah activities contributes to changes in students’ empathetic behavior, including increased awareness, willingness to share, cooperation, and sensitivity toward others. Third, the activity creates short-term impacts on the school social climate by strengthening peer relationships, solidarity, and positive interaction among students. This study contributes theoretically by emphasizing that Islamic values are socially constructed through meaningful experiences and continuous practices. Practically, the findings suggest that value-based habituation programs can serve as effective strategies for developing students’ social empathy and character. Further research is recommended to examine the long-term influence of ta’awun-based educational practices across different institutional and cultural contexts. Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of Islamic singing methods in stimulating children’s memorization of rukun iman and rukun Islam at SPS Rambutan 78 Panti Jember. The study was conducted based on the phenomenon that early childhood Islamic learning requires creative and meaningful approaches that are appropriate to children’s developmental characteristics. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participatory observations, and documentation involving teachers, school administrators, and supporting informants selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis supported by NVivo software to identify patterns, categories, and relationships among emerging themes. The findings reveal that Islamic singing methods function as an effective pedagogical strategy in introducing and stimulating children’s memorization of fundamental Islamic concepts. Three main themes emerged from the analysis: (1) Islamic singing as an enjoyable learning strategy that increases children’s engagement, (2) the role of teachers in transforming abstract Islamic concepts into child-friendly learning experiences, and (3) the contribution of repetition and emotional involvement in strengthening children’s religious memory. The NVivo analysis showed interconnected relationships among teacher strategies, learning activities, children’s participation, and Islamic value development. This study contributes to the field of Islamic early childhood education by demonstrating that creative learning approaches can bridge religious knowledge and children’s developmental needs. Practically, the findings suggest that Islamic singing methods can be utilized by early childhood educators as an alternative strategy for strengthening religious learning. Further research is recommended to examine the long-term influence of Islamic singing methods on children’s religious behavior and character development.

Abstract

Education has been a fundamental concern and a top priority since the earliest stages of human life. In Islam, the importance of education is deeply rooted, as reflected in the prophetic tradition emphasizing lifelong learning from the womb to the grave. This study aims to compare the educational perspectives of two prominent Muslim scholars, Al-Ghazali and Zakiah Daradjat, particularly regarding the ideal characteristics of a teacher. The research seeks to identify similarities and differences in their views and evaluate their relevance as references for contemporary educators. This qualitative study employs historical and philosophical approaches, utilizing inductive-deductive, comparative, and descriptive methods of analysis. The findings reveal that both Al-Ghazali and Zakiah Daradjat have made significant intellectual contributions to the conceptualization of the teacher's role. While sharing many foundational principles, their perspectives also exhibit distinct differences shaped by their respective historical and cultural contexts. Operationally, their concepts remain applicable and offer valuable insights for modern educators, provided they are adapted to current pedagogical frameworks and enriched through contemporary educational strategies.
