Abstract

Central Java is a province with one of the largest labor forces in Indonesia, however, the minimum wage level established in this region remains relatively low compared to other provinces on the island of Java. This condition is further compounded by the reality that the majority of the labor force in Central Java possesses only a low educational background, namely junior high school graduates or below. On the other hand, Central Java holds considerable economic potential, as evidenced by its steadily growing Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and the presence of several strategic industrial zones that attract flows of both domestic and foreign investment. This study aims to analyze the effect of the District/City Minimum Wage (UMK), GRDP, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Domestic Direct Investment (DDI), and Labor Force on the absorption of low-educated workers in Central Java Province during the period 2019–2024.This study employs panel data comprising cross-sectional data from districts/cities in Central Java and time-series data spanning the years 2019 to 2024. The analytical method used is panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results indicate that UMK has a partial negative and significant effect on the absorption of low-educated workers; GRDP has a partial positive and significant effect on the absorption of low-educated workers; FDI, DDI, and the Labor Force has no significant partial effect on the absorption of low-educated workers. Simultaneously, UMK, GRDP, FDI, DDI, and Labor Force have a significant effect on the absorption of low-educated workers.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has increased accessibility to online gambling and has transformed it into a serious socio-economic issue. Muslim university students in Jakarta are considered a relevant group, as they represented a population with high internet penetration while simultaneously being guided by Islamic teachings that prohibit gambling practices. This study aims to analyze the effect of self-control, Islamic financial literacy, income, and peer pressure on the prevention of online gambling behaviour among Muslims university students in Jakarta. This research adopt a quantitative approach with survey method involving 100 respondents. The results indicate that, simultaneously, self control, Islamic financial literact, income, and peer pressure have a significant effect on the prevention of online gambling behaviour. Partially, self control, income, and peer pressure show a significant and negative effect, while Islamic financial literacy does not demonstrate a significant effect. These findings suggest that the prevention of online gambling behaviour is influenced not only by internal factors but also by economic condition and social environment. This study emphasizes the importance of multidimensional preventive approach that incorporates both the strengthening of a healthy social environment and enhancement of individual awareness.

Abstract

Abstract

More university students are showing a tendency to spend money freely as digital culture continues to develop, social media, and social environmental pressures indicates a gap between their educational background in Islamic economics and the consumption practices applied in daily life. This research looks into how a hedonistic lifestyle, knowledge about Islamic finance, and the social surroundings influence the spending habits of undergraduate students in the Islamic Economics Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method by distributing questionnaires to students enrolled during the 2021–2024 academic years. The sample was determined using purposive random sampling, and the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques with SPSS software. The findings indicate that a hedonistic lifestyle and the social environment have a positive and significant partial effect on students’ consumptive behavior, while Islamic financial literacy has a negative but insignificant effect on consumptive behavior. Meanwhile, hedonistic lifestyle, Islamic financial literacy, and the social environment simultaneously have a significant effect on students’ consumptive behavior. These findings suggest that social pressure and lifestyle tendencies are dominant factors in shaping students’ consumptive behavior, despite their background in Islamic economics education. Keywords: Hedonistic Lifestyle; Islamic Financial Literacy; Social Environment; Consumptive Behavior;
