Abstract

This study aims to review the practical process and try to obtain an overview of the problems that arise in the practice of students guiding aircraft in the Aerodrome Control Tower lab by making observations. The research method used is a qualitative method. The research instrument uses interviews and direct observation to observe the phenomena that occur and find out the problems faced when carrying out the practice and trying to find solutions. The results showed that there were several problems found, such as the incompatibility of cadets' understanding of the material provided by each lecturer and from the guidebook itself. The need for further research for improvement in the future.

Abstract

The professionalism of the Air Traffic Controller is a standard for air traffic service so that a good process is needed at all stages, one of the stage is in the On-the-Job Training process, On-the-Job Training Instructor shall comply with required competencies through the gap analysis method by comparing international competences based on Document 9868 Procedures for Air Navigation Services Training with competencies on ATC On the Job Training Instructor training curriculum. The result is that there are 3 (three) international competencies that need to be inserted into the ATC On the Job Training Instructor training curriculum, namely mentoring skills competencies, Collaboration Skills, and Ethics and Integrity skills.

Abstract

The Perum LPPNPI Tanjung Pandan Sub-branch lacks personnel, but the strategic location of the airport causes many small planes to refuel, which affects the increase in traffic. This, of course, causes the workload to increase as well. The Controller's service schedule is not in accordance with PM No. 166 of 2020. This study aims to find out how much influence workload has on the performance of air traffic controllers at Perum LPPNPI Tanjung Pandan Sub-Branch. The research method used is a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. Collecting data using a questionnaire survey and documentation study. Data were analyzed with validity, reliability, normality, correlation, and simple linear regression tests. The research instrument used was the NASA TLX method, and with a result of 90.62%, it was concluded that the category of workload level and ATC performance at Perum LPPNPI Tanjung Pandan Sub-branch was classified as very high. The results showed that the workload had a strong and significant influence on ATC performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of international events on air traffic services. To what extent do spikes in traffic and international event activities affect service quality, and provide new insights. The study was conducted during the implementation of MotoGP and World Superbike International on Lombok Island, and data processing was carried out at AirNav Indonesia Lombok Branch. The analysis method used is a quantitative method. The population includes all air traffic control personnel on duty at Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport. This study uses a total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through observation studies, questionnaires, interviews and literature studies containing flight data both taking off and landing during the event. The questionnaire distributed focused on personnel services during this event. The results show that there is an influence of international events on air traffic services with a T-test value on the sample of 0.0001.

Abstract

Air traffic service (ATS) routes are essential to optimize flight efficiency, safety, security, and comfort. This study aims to improve safety, operational efficiency, air traffic management, and pilot comfort in the airspace managed by Perum LPPNPI Surabaya Branch by designing a new ATS route. The existing international ATS route from Surabaya to Singapore and Malaysia is limited to one path via RAMPY and SUMDI, which causes inefficiency, traffic conflict, and pilot discomfort. To address these issues, this study conducted an extensive analysis of air traffic data, conflict risk, and operational efficiency. Using a research and development methodology guided by the ICAO 9906 Document Quality Assurance framework, an alternative route named the conventional ATS route was developed based on the user preferred route (UPR) concept. This study used quantitative and qualitative methods, including simulation and data evaluation, to validate the new route. The findings show that the new ATS route significantly improves operational safety and efficiency, reduces traffic conflict, and improves pilot comfort. The new route provides greater flexibility for pilots and supports more effective air traffic management, which is a major improvement over the current route. These improvements are essential to accommodate the ever-increasing demand for air traffic while ensuring safety and comfort. Thus, conventional ATS routes not only address current challenges but also lay the foundation for future improvements in air traffic management and pilot operations, highlighting the importance of continued advancement in aviation infrastructure.
