Aviation safety is the business and responsibility of all parties, not only in theory but also in practice, through a continuous process of identifying hazards, managing risks, and performance expectations. Safety Management System training is mandatory training for all aviation personnel as stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia PM No. 62 of 2017 (Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Part 19) concerning Safety Management Systems. The increasingly fierce job competition requires every individual to have competence and knowledge as complete as possible, so with this training, it is hoped that graduates of PPI Curug in the field of Air Traffic Services can compete in the world of work and get one of the most important and mandatory training in the aviation world, namely the safety management system. Community Service Activities (PKM) Safety Management System Training for Air Traffic Services Personnel will be carried out online through the online meeting application, namely ZOOM. Participants are PPI Curug alumni in the ATS field who do not have SMS training certificates, totaling 37 people. It is hoped that the PKM PPI Curug activities will give the participants useful skills and training, as well as give both the participants and the teachers experience.

Abstract

This research evaluates how effectively the Apron Movement Control (AMC) Unit oversees adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) regarding ground handling operations and the use of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) at Kalimarau Airport. The study stems from frequent violations occurring in the apron area, which pose potential threats to aviation safety, with the goal of strengthening safety culture in airside operations. Using a qualitative method, data were obtained through field observations, comprehensive interviews, and document analysis. The study focused on identifying recurring violations and assessing the current supervision system, with PR 21 Year 2023 serving as the primary guideline. Findings reveal that AMC's oversight is still lacking, as shown by common breaches such as GSE operating over speed limits, parking equipment outside designated zones, unauthorized aircraft run-up activities, and failure to wear personal protective equipment (PPE). To overcome these problems, the study proposes improved surveillance using CCTV and GPS tracking, ongoing personnel training, and the implementation of a structured reward and sanction system to promote SOP adherence within the apron environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze passengers' understanding of prohibited items at Terminal 2 of Juanda International Airport and evaluate the effectiveness of information delivery strategies implemented to support aviation safety and security. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that most passengers, particularly elderly individuals, still do not have a clear understanding of the difference between items allowed in the cabin and those that must be placed in checked baggage. Information regarding prohibited items is only discovered when passengers reach the security check area (PSCP), which is considered too late, causing panic and discomfort among passengers. The main factor contributing to the low level of understanding is the unstrategic delivery of information and the lack of engaging communication media. Although information about prohibited items is available through posters and announcements, these methods do not effectively attract passengers' attention. Passengers often overlook the information placed in less visible or strategic locations. This indicates that the current information media have not been effective in providing significant impact on passengers' understanding. This study recommends several steps to improve passenger understanding. The placement of more effective information media, such as eye-catching educational banners and 3D video displays at the departure entrance area, is expected to attract more attention from passengers. Additionally, the use of digital platforms, such as airport apps or social media, could be an effective way to deliver information to passengers before they arrive at the airport. With these strategies, passengers can better prepare and avoid potential mistakes during security checks, thus supporting the smoothness and safety of their flights.

Abstract

Heliports play a vital role in supporting urban mobility and emergency medical services, necessitating accurate and standardized aeronautical information to maintain aviation safety. The heliport chart, as a specialized type of aeronautical chart, serves as the primary medium for disseminating this information. However, current official charts in Indonesia display significant inconsistencies and missing data, potentially leading to misinterpretation by pilots. This study assesses the adequacy of existing internal standards for heliport chart production and their alignment with the Ministry of Transportation Regulation (PR) No. 6 of 2023, which governs the depiction of aeronautical charts under MOS 175-01. A qualitative approach was employed, including comparative analysis of published heliport charts, direct observation, and semi-structured interviews with cartographic personnel at AIS units in Jakarta and Denpasar. The results reveal that the current standard operating procedures (SOPs) are overly generic, lack specific provisions for heliport facilities, and fail to fulfill regulatory requirements. These deficiencies result in inconsistent chart content, omission of critical operational information, and reduced production efficiency. To address these issues, it is recommended to develop a distinct and detailed standard dedicated to heliport chart production in compliance with PR 6 of 2023. Such standardization is crucial to ensure clarity, completeness, and consistency of heliport charts, ultimately enhancing both flight safety and cartographic workflow effectiveness.
