ABSTRACT Cholesterol is a complex fat compound that is 80% produced by the liver from within the body and the remaining 20% is caused by food substances that are often consumed. High cholesterol levels cause serious health complications. The non-pharmacological preventive measures that can reduce cholesterol levels are consuming fruits, especially tomatoes, carrots and green apples. These fruits contain high fiber concentrations of antioxidants, such as carotenoids, flavonoids, licopens, vitamins, and minerals as an effort to stabilize blood cholesterol levels. This study aims to determine the effect of mixed-juice (tomatoes, carrots and green apples) on a decrease in blood cholesterol levels in the elderly. This study used a quasi experiment design with a Pretest-Posttest with Control Group Design. The population of this study was the elderly in Posbindu Desa Sukasari, Banjarsari District, Ciamis Regency as many as 325 elderly, with a number of samples of 60 people taken using total sampling techniques for the treatment group and cluster random sampling for the control group. The results showed that: 1) There was no significant difference between the cholesterol levels of the treatment and control group before the treatment group was given mixed-juice intervention (p-value = 0.890); 2) There was a significant difference between cholesterol levels of treatment and control groups after the treatment group was given mixed-juice intervention (p-value = 0,000); 3) There was a significant difference in the cholesterol levels of the treatment group, before and after being given mixed-juice intervention (p-value = 0,000); (4) There was no significant difference in the cholesterol levels of the control group, before and after the treatment group was given mixed-juice (p-value = 0,630). Non-pharmacological treatment using mixed-juice (tomatoes, carrots and green apples) can reduce blood cholesterol levels in the elderly.
