Abstract

Abstract

In this study, a comparison of the attenuation value of single mode aerial cable with pigtail is made. Perform several types of connections using a 4 cm and 6 cm protection sleeve, with one and two connections and use a barrel adapter connector. How does the connection affect the installation of a 1:2 passive splitter device. The measuring instruments used for the measurement process are Optical Power Meter (OPM) and Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR). The attenuation value of aerial single mode optical cable is smaller than that of pigtail cable. The measurement results using OPM at a wavelength of 1310 nm, connection using a 4 cm protection sleeve, one connection, the attenuation value is 0.18525dB, this value is smaller than the pigtail cable, which is 1.2728 dB. In the installation of a passive splitter, the attenuation value on the aerial cable is smaller, namely 0.2081 dB compared to the pigtail cable, which is 4.3281. The measurement results using the OTDR obtained the connection loss value for the connection type using a 6 cm protection sleeve, one connection is smaller with a value of 0.155 dB, compared to the connection type using an adapter barrel with a value of 12,216 dB.

In this research, the design of a GPON FTTH network using Google Earth, AutoCAD, and Optisystem applications was conducted in Nagari Rangkiang Luluih, Solok Regency. Fiber To The Home (FTTH) is a fiber optic technology architecture that delivers information from the provider to the user. The method used in this research is the Network Development Life Cycle (NDLC). The feasibility parameters used are Bit Error Ratio, Q factor, and Link Power Budget. There are 2 proposals and 2 designs for each area. From the results of the design and calculations using software, the best results were obtained for the first proposal for Nagari Rangkiang Luluih design 1 and 2, with an average Bit Error Ratio value for Downlink of 10-19 and for Uplink of 10-36, meeting the standard BER of 10-9. The Q factor values are 8.6521 for Downlink and 13.3908 for Uplink, meeting the Q factor standard of 6. And the Link Power Budget values are -19.045 for Downlink and -16.967 for Uplink, below the receiver sensitivity standard (Rx) of -28 dBm. The software calculations show that the proposed design 1 has a good network quality, is feasible, and meets the ITU-T G.984 standard. The total number of Homepassed is 234 houses or 234 ONT, 1 OLT, 4 ODC, 20 ODP for design 1 and design 2.

Abstract

Mobile communications technology is evolving rapidly with the introduction of 5G networks, which offer high speeds, low latency, and greater network capacity. To support these services, antennas that can operate optimally in a wide frequency range are required. The objective of this research is to design and analyze a multi-band square-ring slot MIMO antenna operating at frequencies of 2.6 GHz, 3.6 GHz, and 5.25 GHz. The antenna design is performed using CST Studio Suite 2019 software, and the simulation results are compared with the measurement results after fabrication. The antenna structure utilizes a microstrip design with an FR-4 substrate, optimizing parameters such as slot dimensions, feed line positioning, and element spacing to achieve the desired performance. The results show that the designed antenna has a return loss of < -10 dB, VSWR values in the acceptable range (1 ≤ VSWR ≤ 2), mutual coupling isolation below -20 dB, and ECC < 0.05, indicating good MIMO performance. In addition, the antenna exhibits an omnidirectional radiation pattern, a gain of more than 4 dBi with a maximum of 5.25 dBi at 2.6 GHz, and a wide bandwidth suitable for 5G applications. Although there are differences between simulated and measured results due to environmental factors and manufacturing tolerances, the antenna performance remains within acceptable limits. This research proves that the multi-band MIMO design with a square-ring slot can be an effective and practical solution to enhance 5G service quality, offering advantages for future wireless communication systems.

Abstract

LoRa (Long Range) is a wireless communication technology that has gained significant attention in the Internet of Things (IoT) due to its wide coverage and low power consumption. However, its performance is often affected by environmental obstacles that cause signal attenuation and interference. In Indonesia, LoRa is regulated to operate in the 920–923 MHz band, whereas many commercial devices are designed for 915 MHz, leading to suboptimal antenna performance. Therefore, this research aims to design and simulate an antenna that can operate effectively across 900–923 MHz, covering both the commonly used 915 MHz band and the regulated 920–923 MHz band in Indonesia. The proposed design is a 1×2 Antipodal Vivaldi Array antenna using an FR-4 substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.3 and thickness of 1.6 mm. The simulation process was conducted using CST Studio Suite 2019, focusing on the optimization of key geometric parameters such as feedline width, inter-element spacing, flare structure, and ground plane. The simulated results show that the antenna achieves a return loss of –19.11 dB at 923 MHz, a bandwidth of 344.4 MHz, and a gain ranging from 5.103 dBi at 900 MHz to 5.162 dBi at 923 MHz. The radiation pattern is directional, which supports long-range communication requirements. These findings demonstrate that the proposed antenna design meets the specifications for LoRa communication and provides a wideband, directional solution that can enhance the reliability of IoT systems.
