Abstract

Salai Jin is a dance that is believed to have magical powers and is used by the community as a ritual to connect the human realm with the Jinn realm. This dance which contains mystical rituals is performed to ask for help from the Jinn, such as; healing the sick, repelling the plague, or as a form of benefit if the ritual succeeds in healing the sick. This research uses descriptive-qualitative analysis with the Ethnographic Communication approach. Data collection is done directly by the researcher. This technique is carried out using question and answer interaction with or without using interview guidelines with traditional leaders, ritual implementers, and researchers who have conducted Salai Jin studies. Salai Jin or the genie dance is a ritual communication process carried out by the Tidore Islands community with the aim of being able to establish relationships with the jinn nation which is called the embodiment of the ancestors or Papa se Tete so that the Jinn can provide assistance to heal one of the residents of the disease suffered. In general, this ritual procession takes place inside and outside the room led by Sowohi or traditional elders.

Abstract

Muncul gerakan keagamaan yang radikal, tidak moderat, adalah refleksi dari ketidakpuasan atas keadaaan kebangsaan kita. Radikal tentu dilatari banyak hal, faktor utamanya adalah ketidakadilan, termasuk idiologi yang dipahami berlebihan. Pentingnya memahami moderasi beragama bagi masyarakat desa Susupu, hal ini diperlukan untuk menghindari konflik dan meningkatkan harmoni sosial, mencegah penyebaran radikalisme dan ekstremisme, meningkatkan ketahanan mental terhadap informasi hoax. Metode pelaksanaannya yaitu metode ceramah dengan memberikan materi tentang moderasi beragama. Pelaksanan kegiatan ini dilakukan secara tiga tahap, yaitu tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap evaluasi. Keterangan informan di atas memberikan indikasi bahwa menanamkan pengetahuan tentang moderasi beragama hendaknya dilakukan secara terus menerus dengan melibatkan dua komunitas berbeda agama. Hal ini dimaksudkan guna menanamkan dan atau membentuk pengetahuan yang berimplikasi pada sikap masyarakat dalam kehidupan sosial, budaya dan keagamaa. Kesadaran untuk tidak berkonflik adalah tujuan yang paling mulia. membangun kesadaran beragama adalah tujuan dari moderasi beragama. Moderasi mengajarkan setiap orang bersikap moderat, tidak mengedepankan perbedaan, tetapi menjunjung tinggi perbedaan. dapat disimpulkan bahwa upaya desa Susupu membangun moderasi beragama menunjukkan komitmen masyarakat untuk menciptakan kerukunan dan menghargai perbedaan agama.

Abstract

Abstract This article is the result of research that discusses the process of acculturation between the traditional culture of the Ternate Sultanate community and the Islamic religion. This research aims to explore the ritual communication activities of the Jere pilgrimage by the Ternate indigenous community from an Islamic perspective. This ritual is believed by the Ternate community to be in accordance with the Islamic perspective, as Islam is the majority religion and the official religion in the Sultanate of Ternate. The research approach used is descriptive-qualitative, involving the analysis of interviews with religious and traditional figures in the Sultanate of Ternate. The results of this research explain that the Jere pilgrimage is a form of ritual communication for the indigenous community of Ternate to visit the mausoleums of saints and influential figures in the spread of Islam. This research found the construction of Islamic values in the implementation of the Zere ritual and its impact on social and religious dynamics. The integration of traditional customs and Islamic teachings forms a unique pattern of ritual communication, enriching our understanding of cultural diversity and Islam in Ternate. The research provides a profound insight into the reverence of the indigenous community of Ternate towards figures and individuals regarded as saints who have made significant contributions to the spread of Islam. Furthermore, this research also found that the interaction between Islam and culture has shaped the identity of the Ternate community. This research is expected to contribute to the understanding of the social and religious context as well as cultural dynamics within the Islamic community in Ternate. Abstract

Aruwaha merupakan ritual kematian yang diadakan oleh masyarakat Islam di Kota Ternate. Pelaksanaan ritual kematian aruwaha tidak hanya didasarkan pada norma budaya, tetapi juga harus sesuai dengan ajaran Islam. Aruwaha menjadi contoh yang menunjukkan hubungan yang harmonis antara agama dan budaya, di saat banyak pandangan yang meragukan kemungkinan menyatukan agama dan budaya. Penelitian ini membahas pelaksanaan ritual aruwaha yang menjadi ruang perjumpaan antara agama dan budaya. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mengeksplorasi peristiwa komunikasi dalam ritual aruwaha serta nilai-nilai yang terkonstruksi di dalamnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara mengamati secara langsung subyek penelitian, melakukan wawancara mendalam, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa aruwaha adalah komunikasi ritual kematian yang dilaksanakan berdasarkan ketentuan agama dan budaya. Proses ritual kematian aruwaha dilakukan dengan melibatkan aspek komunikasi vertikal antara manusia dengan Allah Swt serta aspek horizontal yakni kerja sama yang dilakukan dalam masyarakat. Melalui aruwaha masyarakat Islam di Kota Ternate dapat mengungkapkan rasa duka cita, meningkatkan keyakinan agama, memberikan penghormatan kepada orang yang meninggal, dan memperkuat ikatan sosial di antara keluarga dan masyarakat. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang aruwaha sebagai sebuah proses komunikasi ritual kematian yang masih dipraktikkan oleh masyarakat Islam di Kota Ternate. Selain itu, hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi cerminan tentang adanya hubungan yang harmoni antara agama dan budaya dalam kehidupan masyarakat.

Abstract

This research examines the strategic role of Ahmadiyah in education and da'wah in the modern Western world. The main issue addressed is how Ahmadiyah, often facing social and theological challenges, plays a significant role in promoting moderate and peaceful Islam in the West. The study aims to fill the gap in academic literature, which has rarely discussed Ahmadiyah's role in education and dawah. Using a library research approach, data were collected from relevant books, journals, and scientific articles. The research findings show that Ahmadiyah has established several educational institutions in Western countries, such as the UK and Canada, and uses modern media like MTA International to spread its message. Ahmadiyah also promotes interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence in pluralistic societies. The Tahrik Jadid movement, initiated by the second Khalifah, Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad, supports the construction of mosques and global education programs. In conclusion, Ahmadiyah has played an important role in strengthening the image of Islam as a peaceful religion in the West despite various challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to probe and comprehend the dynamics of communication between The Bugis and Ternate people in the context of daily life in Ternate. Communication between strangers and host cultures often presents complex and interesting challenges in understanding different cultures, beliefs and social practices. This study used a qualitative approach using intimate interviews and participant observation to gain in-depth insight into the communication experiences between the Bugis and Ternate people. Research participants consisted of Bugis individuals living in Ternate and Ternate people who had direct interactions with them. The results of the research provides a better understanding of how The Bugis as strangers and Ternate people as host cultures communicate, the challenges they face in establishing intercultural relations, and the strategies and mechanisms used to overcome these differences. This research also found the importance of intercultural communication competence and the important role of language, nonverbal expression, and full understanding of certain cultural perceptions. The researcher trusts that the research will make an important contribution to cross-cultural understanding and intercultural communication, as well as provide practical suggestions for enhancing understanding and relations between the Bugis and Ternate people in Ternate. This research also can be a basis for further research on intercultural communication in Indonesia and involving other cultural groups.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the moral da'wah message on the TikTok @basyasman00 account by focusing on three categories of morals, namely morality to Allah, morality towards fellow creatures, and morality towards the environment. This study uses a quantitative approach with Scott's content analysis method. The research data was in the form of 27 da'wah videos uploaded in the January-July 2022 period and analyzed through a coding sheet. The encoding process is carried out by three coder, while the inter-coder reliability is tested using Scott's Pi. The results of the reliability test showed a value of 0.52 which was in the moderate category. The findings of the study show that moral messages to Allah are the most dominant category with 11 videos or 41%, followed by moral messages towards fellow creatures as many as 10 videos or 37%, and moral messages towards the environment as many as 6 videos or 22%. These results show that moral da'wah on @basyasman00 account emphasizes strengthening human spiritual relationships with God, while social and ecological messages emerge as supporting themes. This research confirms that TikTok can be a space for the distribution of short video-based moral da'wah, but digital da'wah practices need to expand the balance of themes to include spiritual, social, and environmental dimensions in a more proportionate manner.
