Abstract

Community health workers have had an increasing role in CVD prevention and control. Their knowledge and activity contributed to hypertension management in community. Hence, this study aimed to assess the knowledge of community health workers in community. This cross sectional study was conducted in 94 community health workers. All of the participants worked in primary geriatric community health service (posyandu lansia). Hypertension knowledge and management activity in the community was assessed by questionnaire. Most of the community health workers (57%) had high knowledge level. Participants with high knowledge had significant awareness of hypertension and higher knowledge on hypertension therapy, medication adherence, life style, diet, and hypertension complication compared to those of low knowledge level. Moreover, both groups had similar activities in community regarding hypertension management, such as blood pressure measurement, health education, and body mass index measurement. This study suggested that all health care workers shared similar activity in community hypertension management regardless their knowledge level.

Lung tuberculosis is still a government concern as an infectious disease that causesdeath. The prevalence of lung tuberculosis is still increasing, one of the causes is the highrate of transmission. Families caring for lung tuberculosis patients have a higher risk oftransmitted because of the high intensity of interactions. Families must understand andbe aware of how lung tuberculosis is transmitted and how to prevents it. The researchobjective was to determine the effectiveness of education through video regarding lungtuberculosis transmission towards increasing knowledge and attitudes in using masks infamilies with lung tuberculosis patients. The research design was pre-experimental withone group pre-post test design. The instrument used was a questionnaire to measureknowledge and attitudes, and an educational video with a duration of 15 minutes.Respondents in this study are one of the family members who are the main responsiblefor tuberculosis patients, totaling 23 people. The results showed the mean pre-testfor knowledge was 71.00 ± 8,954 and attitudes were 21.65 ± 4.074. Meanwhile, afterproviding education, the results showed the mean of knowledge is 94.70 ± 6.931 and theattitude is 25.96 ± 3140. There was a significant effect of providing lung tuberculosistransmission educational videos on increasing knowledge and attitudes in using masksin families with lung tuberculosis patients. The use of educational video media canbe better developed as an alternative strategy in efforts to prevent lung tuberculosistransmission, both in hospitals and in the community

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease with hyperglycemia because of abnormalities of insulin. Prevalence of DM increases from year to year and is predicted by 2030 to increase to 366 million. One of the efforts that can be done to reduce the high number of patients with DM is a group of calories counseling to solve the diet problems so that they can control the blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of calorie counseling on increasing knowledge, attitude, and behavior of patient dietary with DM in Semanding, Puskesmas Dau, Kabupaten Malang. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental design, a non-randomized pre-posttest control group. The samples were selected into two groups, that is the "intervention" group (n=20), and the "control" group (n=20). The method of data analysis used an independent t-test. The results showed a relationship between the calories counseling and the knowledge of dietary with p-value = 0,000, a relationship between the calories counseling and the behavior of dietary with p-value = 0,152. The research concluded that calories counseling increases the knowledge and behavior of dietary to patient DM in Semanding Dau, Kabupaten Malang.

Abstract

Introduction: Missed nursing care is caring aspect needed for patients who have intentionally or not been eliminated or significantly postponed. One of the factors that can affect missed nursing care is the work environment of the nurse. This study aims to examine the correlation of nurse’s work environment with missed nursing care in a regional general hospital in Indonesia. Method: This research study is used correlational analysis and a cross sectional design approach which was carried out on 56 nurses as respondents using two instruments: Misscare survey and Practice environment scale- nursing work index (PES-NWI) questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistics tests were applied. The level of significancy was set at p value = <0.05. Results: Nurse work environment data including staffing and resources; quality of basic nursing care; nurse-doctor relationship; nurse participation in hospital affairs; nurse manager abilities, leadership, and nurse support. The statistical test showed study using Spearman Rank test showed that there was a significant relationship between the work environment of nurses and missed nursing care (ρ <0.05). Conclusions: Professional nursing environments determine the quality of care and patient outcomes. Assessing the quality of environments is essential to improve and obtain better health outcomes. Simplifying and shortening the way to evaluate environments reliably is also essential to help nurses better understand the strengths and weaknesses of their work. Identifying elements of nursing environments would allow the construction of better health services as a whole.
