Abstract

Many researchers found that students have difficulties in understanding area measurement. Students mostly focus on applying formula to find the area of certain shapes without knowing what the area is and why the formula works. It is important for the students to know what attribute being measured and to construct the unit for area measurement. Therefore, the aim of this research is to develop activities that support students to know the attribute of area and the notion of measurement unit in learning area measurement. For this purpose, design research is chosen for achieving the research goal. Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) underlies the design of context and activities. A teacher and students in grade 3 in elementary school (SDN 21) in Palembang Indonesia will be involved in this research.Keywords: Area measurement, unit, design research, RME

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul berbasis inkuiri pada mata kuliah persamaan diferensial biasa yang valid dan praktis. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesulitan mahasiswa dalam mempelajari materi persamaan diferensial biasa disebabkan karena buku teks yang digunakan belum mampu menarik perhatian mahasiswa untuk mempelajari sendiri materi sehingga menyebabkan mahasiswa kurang termotivasi untuk belajar. Oleh karena itu perlu dirancang sebuah modul yang dapat membantu mahasiswa dan memberikan kesempatan untuk menemukan sendiri konsep dan berbagai cara menemukan solusi dari berbagai bentuk persamaan diferensial. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan dengan rancangan penelitian yang terdiri atas 3 tahap yaitu tahap define (pendefenisian), tahap design (perancangan), tahap develop (pengembangan). Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar validasi untuk mengukur validitas modul, dan angket respon untuk mengukur kepraktisan modul. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul berbasis inkuiri pada mata kuliah persamaan diferensial biasa 1) sangat valid dalam aspek kelayakan isi, penyajian, kebahasaan dan kegrafikan, 2) sangat praktis dalam aspek mudah digunakan, menarik dan efisien.

Abstract

The results of the preliminary study show that the System of Linear Equations in Two Variables learning process in junior high schools tends to use direct mathematical models and presents material that is not related to daily life experiences, thereby decreasing students' motivation towards mathematics. This is the basis for designing learning trajectory in the form of activities based on students' experiences. This research is design research with the Plomp model. In the first phase, preliminary research was carried out consisting of needs analysis, curriculum analysis, concept analysis, characteristics analysis and literature review. In the second phase, the prototyping phase was carried out with a series of formative evaluations: self-evaluation, expert validation, one-to-one evaluation and small group. The trial was carried out at Al Islah private junior high school in Bukittinggi city. Based on the results of the implementation of RME-based etnomathematics learning design in class VIII SMP/MTs, it has effectively had an impact on learning outcomes. This result can be seen from the percentage of completeness obtained by students using student books with RME-based ethnomathematics where 86.7% of students were able to complete the post test at the field test stage.

Abstract

The national mathematics science olympiads in junior high schools in the mathematics branch have an important role in the world of education by providing students with the ability to understand, apply and appreciate mathematical concepts in a scientific context. This includes developing a deeper understanding of mathematics, understanding of the scientific method, the ability to think logically, effective communication skills, and the ability to solve problems. This discussion details how the national science Olympiad helps students become individuals who are experts in mathematics and ready to play a role in science, technology and society.

Abstract

Penelitiani ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan computational Thinking peserta diidk kelas VII di SMPN 3 Pariangan dalam pembelajaran matematika. Hal ini terlihat dari kesulitan peserta didik dalam Menyusun algoritma penyelesaian, menganalisis informasi, serta mengenali pola dalam menyelesaikan soal non rutin. Pendekatan STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) dianggap sebagai salah satu solusi inovatif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan abad ke-21, khususnya kemampuan computational thinking yang meliputi dekomposisi, pengenalan pola, abstraksi, dan algoritma Oleh karena itu tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan computational thinking peserta didik yang menggunakan pendekatan STEAM lebih baik daripada menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional dikelas VII SMPN 3 Pariangan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperiment dengan rancangan penelitian Randomized Control Grup Only Design. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh peserta didik kelas VII SMPN 3 Pariangan tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik simple random sampling. Data diperoleh dari hasil pemberian soal tes kemampuan computational thinking peserta didik dan dianalisis menggunakan uji-t. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa kemampuan computational thinking peserta didik yang menggunakan pendekatan STEAM lebih baik dari pada menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional hal ini ditandai dengan thitung>ttabel atau 2,45449 > 2,00855 maka H0 ditolak, artinya pada taraf signifikan 5% dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan computational thinking peserta didik dengan menggunakan pendekatan STEAM lebih baik dari pada kemampuan computational thinking pembelajaran konvensional dikelas VII SMPN 3 Pariangan.
