Abstract

Abstract

The development of the financial sector, particularly the banking industry, has a significant impact on the economic growth of a country. Islamic banks, as part of the financial sector, play a crucial role in supporting economic growth and financial stability. This study aims to analyze the influence of bank health levels, assessed based on Risk Profile (Profil resiko), Good Corporate Governance (GCG), Earnings (Profitability), and Capital (Capital Adequacy), on profit growth in Sharia Banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2018-2022. Secondary data used were financial reports published by relevant Islamic banks or the Financial Services Authority (OJK) website with 4 companies as samples. Quantitative method was chosen for this paper. Limitation for this paper is only for sharia banks listed on Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI).  First, from the test on the Influence of Risk Profile (Non Performing Loan/NPL) on Profit Growth, the results show that NPL has an insignificant negative influence on profit growth. Second, in the test on the Influence of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) on Profit Growth, although the coefficient shows a positive influence, partially GCG does not have a significant influence on the company's profit growth. Third, the test on the Influence of Rentability (Return On Asset/ROA) on Profit Growth shows that ROA has a positive influence, but is not significant on the company's profit growth. Fourth, in the test on the Influence of Capital (Capital Adequacy Ratio/CAR) on Profit Growth, although the coefficient shows a positive influence, partially CAR does not have a significant influence on the company's profit growth. The results of this research are expected to provide a better understanding of the factors influencing the profit growth of Islamic banks and their implications for the stability and growth of the Islamic financial sector, for investor to get maximal capital gain. The weakness and limitation of the study the samples are only 4 companies.

Abstract

This study evaluates the application of circular economy principles in managing e-waste at Telkomcel Timor Leste, a leading telecommunications company in the country. Timor Leste is facing increasing challenges in e-waste management due to the growing use of technological devices, which contributes to the rising volume of electronic waste. Inadequate management of e-waste poses significant environmental and health risks, including pollution and the leaching of harmful substances into the soil and water. The study uses a mixed-methods approach, including secondary data analysis and in-depth interviews with key stakeholders at Telkomcel, involving 4 respondents from various stackholder related to waste management and sustainability. The analysis focuses on Telkomcel's strategies in implementing circular economy practices, such as device refurbishment, recycling programs, and internal policies. The findings reveal that while Telkomcel has taken significant steps toward adopting a circular economy model, challenges remain, including limited infrastructure, low public awareness, and insufficient recycling facilities. Notably, Telkomcel has initiated internal policies promoting e-waste collection, repair, and reuse of devices, yet the company faces barriers in scaling these efforts. The study highlights the importance of strengthening collaboration with third-party recycling partners, expanding the recycling infrastructure, and raising public awareness through education campaigns. This research is significant in the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), as it emphasizes the need for sustainable e-waste management practices to mitigate environmental impact and contribute to long-term resource efficiency. The study concludes with recommendations for Telkomcel to enhance its sustainability efforts by improving infrastructure, increasing public education on e-waste recycling, and advocating for stronger government regulations. These efforts are expected to support sustainable development in Timor Leste while minimizing the environmental consequences of improper e-waste disposal.

Abstract

The telecommunications industry in Indonesia faces numerous challenges in allocating resources for network development, including network complexity, technological changes, market competition, and customer expectations. To achieve optimal financial outcomes and customer satisfaction, investments must be well-managed, well-placed, and well-executed. This study analyses network investment portfolio selection outcomes at Telkomsel; Indonesia's largest cellular operator, comparing conventional scenarios (financial and network) with an optimized scenario using Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP). The research evaluates these scenarios based on total portfolio score, incremental revenue, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Financial indicators such as net present value (NPV), IRR, EBIT margin, incremental revenue, and network indicators such as capacity and customer satisfaction (download/upload throughput, latency, packet loss, jitter) assess investment feasibility. The MILP optimization scenario strongly correlates with incremental revenue, NPV, and IRR, indicating higher financial performance. Sites selected in the MILP optimization outperscenario formed others in total score (22% better than the financial scenario, 63% better than the network scenario), incremental revenue (3.5% better than the financial scenario, 90.2% better than the network scenario), and portfolio IRR (4% better than the financial scenario, 70% better than the network scenario).

Abstract

The rise of sustainable finance is in accordance with the increasing emphasis on the need to implement sustainable development globally. However, inadequate research has been done on how sustainability finance practices impacts a company's financial performance. Through sustainability reports and the issuance of green bonds, this research aims to comprehend how sustainable finance practices affect financial performance. Return on Equity (ROE) serves as an indicator for financial performance in this research.  The 19 financial services companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange comprised the research's population. Path analysis was used to perform the analysis. The findings show that the issuance of green bonds is positively and significantly impacted by the caliber of sustainability reports. However, the financial performance of Indonesian financial service companies is not significantly impacted by the quality of sustainability reports or the issuance of green bonds. The impact of sustainability report quality on the financial performance of Indonesian financial service companies is positively mediated by the issuance of green bonds. The importance of utilizing green bond issuance as a strategic tool to improve the financial results linked to sustainable reporting practices is highlighted by this finding, which offers useful insights for Indonesian financial service institutions.
