Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a medical condition in which the blood pressure in arteries is persistently elevated. This condition can increase risk of cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, kidney failure, heart attack, and kidney damage. One of traditional treatment for hypertension is using celery leaves (Apium graveolens L) and bay leaves (Syzygium polyantum). Purpose: The aimed of this research is to determine the difference of blood pressure after the consumption of celery and bay leaves water in pre-elderly with hypertension at Cigugur Tengah Public Health Center. Method: The type of this research is the numerical comparative analytic with Quasi Experiment design with Non Equivalent Control Group Design. This research used purposive sampling technique using 22 respondens with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection was performed by measuring the blood pressure before and after the consumption of celery leaves and bay leaves boiled water that consume twice a day in one week. Result: The statistical result of T-independent test obtain p valueof 0,365 > α (0,05) for the systolic blood pressure and 0,574 > α (0,05) for diastolic blood pressure. The results of this study also concluded that there was an influence on blood pressure of the two intervention groups for patients with hypertension with a p value of each intervention group, a systolic p value of 0,000 and a diastolic of 0,000 with a significance level of p <α (0.05). Conclusion: Suggestion of this research is to consume boiled water of celery leaves and bay leaves for longer time as additional therapy for hypertension patient.

Abstract

Abstract

The problem of stunting in Indonesia is still a national concern, stunted children are at higher risk of developing degenerative diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, obesity and cognitive impairment. Analyzing the Effectiveness of Audio Visual Media and Flip Sheets in increasing the Knowledge, Attitudes and Skills of cadres in conducting child growth and development screening in the Cianjur Regency City Health Center area. Research design with a Quasi Experimental approach. The total sample size was 84, divided into 2 groups with a ratio of 1:1. The statistical analysis used is univariate, bivariate using the paired sample T test and Wilcoxon test, Multivariate using the multiple logistic regression test. The results showed significant difference in knowledge (p-value=0.001), attitude (p-value = 0,001) and skills (p-value = 0,001) before and after being given audiovisual media in the intervention group. And there is a significant difference in knowledge (p-value = 0.013); attitude (p-value = 0.026); and skills (p-value =0.001) in the intervention group and control group. The results of research using the multiple logistic regression test showed that there were confounding variables, namely age and education on attitudes and skills, while there were no confounding variables on knowledge. So it can be concluded that audiovisual media is effective in increasing the knowledge and skills of cadres. Therefore, audiovisual media can be used to increase cadres' knowledge and skills in screening children's growth and development.

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide, with a continuously increasing prevalence. In Indonesia, coronary heart disease (CHD) contributes substantially to cardiovascular-related deaths, highlighting the importance of effective secondary prevention strategies. Health promotion using appropriate educational media is essential to improve patients’ knowledge, attitudes, and self-care behaviors. This study aimed to examine the effect of audiovisual health promotion on knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to the prevention of recurrent chest pain among patients with coronary heart disease. A quantitative quasi-experimental study was conducted using a pretest–posttest control group design. Participants were patients diagnosed with coronary heart disease who were assigned to intervention and control groups. The intervention group received audiovisual-based health education, while the control group received standard care. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. Paired t-tests, independent t-tests, and Wilcoxon tests were used for bivariate analysis, and multiple logistic regression was applied for multivariate analysis. The results showed a significant improvement in knowledge (p = 0.001) and attitudes (p = 0.018) in the intervention group after exposure to audiovisual health promotion. However, no significant effect was observed on preventive behaviors related to recurrent chest pain (p = 0.084). In conclusion, audiovisual health promotion effectively improves knowledge and attitudes among patients with coronary heart disease but does not significantly influence preventive behaviors. These findings suggest that while audiovisual media are effective for cognitive and affective outcomes, additional or sustained interventions are required to promote behavioral change in the secondary prevention of coronary heart disease.
